  • Take a glimpse into the process of making a simple ring! If you've ever wondered what goes into that silver ring you love, or the ring you're dying to have, this will give you a brief peek into my studio. Subtitles will guide you through the video and explain why certain actions are taken. If you have any questions about certain steps or about the tools I'm using, stop by the comments; I'm more than happy responding to questions and feedback.

The way you solder is so different from what I’ve seen it seems so much easier than cutting small snippets and put it in the area.

Hi Leah! A few people have said this. I actually alternate methods depending on the application. For instance, if I need the bezel to be placed a little more precisely, I will cut up little pieces and line the bezel. Sometimes when I'm using the wire method, touching the bezel with the solder moves it just slightly and could throw off the design, especially if you were making a piece with two stones that you wanted to line up in a particular way!

Thanks Rob! And I know! it kinda has a triforce vibe to it. Maybe I'll start making some jewelry inspired by the Hylian Royal Family haha

Great question! For me, it's just an added security to keep the stone snug in the bezel. With a little bit of glue beneath the sawdust and on top of the sawdust, it's almost like the stone has an additional backing. It was also how the guy I learned from did it haha so there's that.
