- "Ethiopia hoy dess ibalish" (O Ethiopia to be happy) was the first national anthem of Ethiopian history. Composed in 1925 or 1926 by Kevork Nalbandian, an Armenian immigrant in Ethiopia, it is interpreted for the first time November 2, 1930, the day of the crowning of Tafari Makonnen as Negusse Negest under the name of Haile Selassie. However, the anthem celebrated the "Negus" (title held by Haile Selassie before its coronation) and not the "Negusse Negest" (equivalent of Emperor). The anthem will be replaced in 1975, following the overthrow of the monarchy by the Derg 12 September 1974. The new anthem will "Ityopya, Ityopya, Ityopya, qidä mi".
The recording on video, is the first interpretation of 1930, interpreted by the Armenian Band and directed by the composer Kevork Nalbandian.

La monarquía casi feudal terminó en la revolución etíope de 1974 por sus múltiples causas: Autoritarismo, impopularidad y descontento social con el negus Haile Selassie, hambruna masiva por la sequía, separatismos, discriminación étnica, decadencia del sistema político y más. Fue sucedido por Mengistu Haile Mariam como jefe de estado en caracter comunista hasta principios de los 90
La hambruna fue en el 72 y la monarquía no cayó por eso.
