So I started out with pocket operators, and a behringer td-3. From there I bought an original circuit and fell in love. Nothing I ever held in my hand at that point allowed me to make electronic music so quickly and efficiently. The layout, and interface people call intuitive, and I for one can agree... I opened it up and had a jam started in minutes... so a few months later after I saw people bashing the circuit in many groups including the circuit one I decided to step it up and I bought an elektron model samples and roland MC-101...
I was more stoked about the 101... only after awhile of using both I still found myself constantly reaching for the circuit. Neither seemed very user friendly to me... however I did get used to the model samples and am way better at operating it... you know what I am still not good at using?the MC-101!!! I personally just don't get along with it well... I hate the clips and no drum mutes, I hate the amount of buttons you have to push to do the simplest of shit, but you know... out of all I have and that is constantly expanding like i have akai stuff, arturia, whatever....the roland is like my best sounding groovebox....that i barely use because of how you have to use it. It's like it looked at how easy and fun the circuit was and said "aye I'm going to sound way better than that for a little bit of money, give you more tonal options, effects, everything is better... except the one thing that people like about my main competitor in a groovebox at this price point" ...
I find it tedious and annoying. It's great sounding box, but shit.. if you check my channel it's all circuit and model samples and two videos of the mc101.... and there is a good reason for that

You’re spot on ! The Circuit and Model Samples are my favourite boxes , they are both easy and fun to use. The Mc101 sounds great , but it’s not much fun at all. I’ll check your channel out , sounds like you’ve done some cool vids .👍

@@Loopingstar it's not much really. For every cool jam I did there are like 3 mediocre to bad ones. I am really a guitarist or multi instrumentalist and did lofi surfy indie stuff before the pandemic which made me feel more inclined to make electronic music. I am still learning and not always comfortable with the music I make with grooveboxes. Sometimes that shows.

@@tigmil8116 interesting, yea loads of people rave about the Circuit that it's really intuitive. I used to have a Roland MC-303 back in the day so i guess I have some leaning towards Roland and thinking about getting a 101, but it seems the Circuit tracks has many advantages not least the intuitive interface. Just wish it could do more synth tracks though. 2!! :-s that said it can midi other gear well, so pros and cons to both i guess

@@GregDixson the 101 takes a little getting used to, but afterwards, its actually quite easy, and the amount of sounds on board can't really be beaten.

the mc 101 has drum mutes now, maybe they added it in an update. you have to press the track and have it on notes i believe , while at the same time pressing the drum sounds u want to mute

love your honesty in this video - how are you getting on with them both? I've put a few tracks on TH-cam after using it for a couple of weeks. Keep the videos up, good job.

Looks like a good match. I'm kind of split on which of these two to get (until I can get both :) ) Good to know in advance the mc101 sequencer is a ball-ache! lol.
