Good to see the "Dancer" out doing her thing, and its always nice to have friends along, especially when out on your boat for the first sail in a long time. Hope to see more of you out gliding over the waves. Take care and be safe.

Maybe that's in ep-3 i hav'nt seen that yet. She must look amazing with the sails up and mizzen flying. Great to see you back on the water again. CHEERS AND FAIR WINDS Steve h.

Hey I wanted to tell you about my experience with diesel heaters. Well the forced air type at least. Most of the people I know that have had the forced air diesel heaters eventually get the combustion chamber all gunked up. Seeing where your diesel heater is, I don't want you to go through the "Tear down, and rebuild, process." Now your system may perform differently, because it is in fact a hydronic heater. The thing is, I suspect it may do much the same. Why? Well honestly it may be the dye in the fuel, or fuel quality. My belief is that poor quality diesel, with dye, is responsible for mucking up the combustion chamber with soot. I've seen that some manufacturers of forced air units suggest a cleaning every 1000 hours...which is just crazy. In my experience they muck up every 1000-2500 hours. Since I have one which does this I've been running a small kerosene tank with two shut off valves close to the pump. Now you may have a pump that is far away from the actual unit. This makes what I am suggesting just undoable. I run the kerosene for thirty minutes before shutdown, and on high...to burn off any soot. I also run it on startup for thirty minutes to warm up the combustion chamber to a proper temperature. That way the kerosene helps the chamber stay clean. Diesel heaters rely on the chamber temperature to continue combustion and before it gets really hot the burn is really inefficient. Also I only burn the clear Kerosene. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you about what you might expect....but I might say you do NOT want to pull that out to clean the combustion chamber. I don't even know if your unit can take Kerosene, but Diesel and Kerosene used to be the same product. Several sailing channels have all had problems...Ran, MJ Sailing, Panda. A month or two of heavy use seems to produce a rebuild.
