If you sit down and do some math you can have a good 4.8 setup just cant throw anything at it amd expect power. 4.8 is a good boost motor. And for ppl crying about low end tq, what do you think a high stall converter is for. What do you think 4.10 or 4.30 or 4.56 gears are for. Every motor has a purpose. The 4.8 could also be a good nitrous motor, small and high revving. Spend money on internals and heads, get a cam spec'd for the job and throw a 300 shot at it and eat 6.0s all day. If you got a good build and a good tuner you can run a bigger shot than 300 its all in what you know.

Not too bad for an engine that was originally introduced back in 1967 and had slowly been choked out by shitty emissions systems. I believe it actually made about 15-20 more lbs-ft of torque than the first year of the 5.3

It actually is bad. At 45mph he is tacking 2800. At 70mph it will be way up there and get shit gas milage. No point in putting any money into a 4.8 just sell it and buy a 327 or stroke the 4.8 to a 327 which is whatba 327 is in the first place. It has no low end at all in that

Mine is on from pulling the fuse, hated the abs system in these trucks. Check fuse, or maybe your e brake is slight pressed down. I have had that before too, try fully engaging it then releasing again.
The ABS modules in the early NBS trucks are garbage. To have a shop fix it, it’ll be $1200 just for the module. I found a place I plan on buying a reman abs module from for like $200. They do good work bought a trans module from them for my Mazda 3. However, in the meantime black electrical tape over the lights keeps them from annoying tf out of me.
Basically lets you get up higher in the rpms before your transmission engages and puts power to the wheels. Bigger the stall the more rpm you get. @2800 you could probably footbrake to 2400 rpm or so before your wheels start spinning were as a 3800 you could likely hold to 3300 or so there for launching harder. Works similar when driving down the road and you stomp it, you will flash close to the rpm of the stall then it goes. Best way I can explain it, im sure there are videos that will explain it better for you haha.
might be a dumb question but I have a 4.8 looking to do a gear swap. Did the 4.56's fit with the stock housing and cover? like you didn't have to modify the rear in any way to do the swap.
ya it all fits, i did a true trac locker to. depending on your tire size i would get a driveshaft built before i went through the gears, with my setup the stock sh is only good for 100 mph and then it splits in half

I really needed to rev out to 7200 maybe more and i was only at 6500. Depends what your end game goal for the truck is, make a choice off of that
I had 456 gears install on 2008 Silverado with 35s and now after 2 months it bounces out of gear between 3 and 4 at 35 mph to 50 in the low 1200 to 1500 rpm range of your cruising around . I was told later you have to dial in the new gear and tell the truck computer you have 35 tires , I'm like what the fuck didn't they do it at 4x4 shop ? Now I here speed sensor tells the tran l460e when to shift , now there saying at 4x4 that's not true ? WTF?
Truck weighs 4700 lbs with me in it, every 100 lbs is a tenth. Depends on your stall to, bigger stall gonna make your time quicker, everythings different man. If your close to the same setup as me it should work good in a lighter car, low low 13 id think
Francisco Huerta never ran it with 4.56s, ran a 14.5 on a shitty tune with the 3.73s, prob coulda shaved a couple tenths off on a good tune. shift points were scattered. never been on a dyno , should be around 330ish whp
Its just a bigger converter in the tranny, stock is 1700 rpm or something. The bigger you go with your stall, the more rpm you can build before the tranny actually engages and puts the power to the wheels. Hope that makes sense
Tune was not great in this video but i ran into the driveshaft issue then took my tranny out so i never bothered getting a retune, a lot has changed since this video
Ya id do at least 3k, i love my 3800, have a 2800 in it now and it feels stock haha. Like i said though you are alot lighter so dont need the stall as much to get up and go. Would be a little more casual on the street to.
Actually his speed and RPM's are pretty much right on. I run 75 MPH with 3:48's at 2,000 RPM. I am really impressed at his set up. May run 17-18 MPG.
For all those doubting it, i had it recalibrated and retuned. Might not be perfect but its pretty damn close

That cluster had me confused for a second, i have 4:10s and @65mph im already above 2k rpms.
400ex king that shit is in km/h, took me a minute to figure out. At 65km/h which is roughly about 45mph he is at about 1800rpm.
