Our Venice costs breakdown,
3 nights at camping venezia village - 24 euros a night in off season (72 euros)
Bus to Venice - 1.50 euros per person each way (6 euros)
Venice boat - all day pass 20 euros (40 euros)
Pizza lunch and drink - 13 euros
Ice cream and a milkshake - 8 euros
Restaurant dinner - 46 euros
So this week, after driving our self converted camper van all the way through France and across to North Eastern Italy we find ourselves in Venice! As we were passing it would have been rude not to attempt to see if you can visit Venice in a campervan or motorhome!
We have heard so much about this city, its too expensive, one big tourist trap, it's a rip off, it smells and it's just too busy, BUT, we just couldn't ignore the potential beauty, culture, vibrance, architecture and the obvious, food! So we just had to stop so we could take you on a city tour of venice, and we even show you around at night!
We find one of the best campsites in venice, perfectly located to visit what is arguably one of the best things to do in italy, and often referred to as the best city in the world, and, it's perfectly located to give you one of the easiest ways to get in as well!
So if you want to know if it's worth visiting Venice, if it is really that expensive, and is it possible in a campervan then hopefully we answer all of that in this weeks European travel vlog!
Hopefully you are enjoying this European travel series as much as we are and we are managing to show you just some of the stunning landscapes that Italt has to offer in this Italian travel vlog.

I love Venice. Best time is early morning before the tourists arrive, and late afternoon when they have left. There are some very good inexpensive places to eat in the eastern side of the city, away from the touristy part. I played the piano in St Marks square. The pianist was playing dreary classical that interested no one. I knocked out a couple of boogies and drew a massive crowd so the manager asked me to go because the entrance to his restaurant was blocked by the crowd, great fun.

Venice on a budget is a doddle, just get off the tourist trail once you’ve ogled the must see bits and delve into the real magic of the city. Works for any city really 😊

Venice is beautiful. Tourist's Taxes are outrageous everywhere. Gotta say, if I was there, I would have bought those Fanny gloves for you, Lou.❤

Ladies, check out next time: Lido di Jesolo, a land bridge straight across the lagoon - you have to drive a big bow and then enjoy huge camp site facilities. A short walk to the vaporetto station, buy an (expensive but worth while) 48 h ticket for the vaporetto and - enjoy island hopping and walks in venice to your hearts' content. Like Torcello, Murano, Burano etc. etc.
Do not miss to travel by night back to the Lido di Jesolo and enjoy quiet nights on the camp site. ;)

We went to Venice a few months before you, stayed in a campsite on the far side of the lagoon and caught the ferry over every day, easy peasy.

If you sit down at the Caffe’ Florian in St Marks Square that is really nice old fashioned service. Before you order anything it is 10€ per person. It’s a once in a lifetime experience, lovely when the band is playing.

Last time we went was 2006 on way to Croatia. We caught boat from Sottomarina that went to an island where we caught a bus .That went to other end of the island the bus went on a ferry took us to Lido then caught another boat into St Marks Square. Hope to go again if we do Croatia trip again. Xx

The campsite info was really useful for me, just converting a Ducato at the moment. I nearly went to Venice this Summer, but I get bad allergies if a room is damp- and I could imagine that’s highly likely in Venice. It was so expensive, too. You really got a lot for comparatively little money. And I was smiling so much again. Really pleased I‘ve found your channel. Thanks, in case you ever see this!

Thanks you two for this video even tho I found it a bit late, was lucky enough to live just outside Venice for just over five years, can't tell you how many times we paid Venice a visit, and it didn't matter how many times we went, each time we walked into St.Marcos Sq it took my breath away.. absolutely LOVED living there
A very pretty place indeed
These blinds look great and are likely really good for privacy, insulation, and stealth. But I am skeptical about the performance in direct sunlight to keep out the heat. The black outer material will absorb lots more heat than reflective silver material. Good at stealth and good at keeping it cool unfortunately require quite the opposite outer material
Reflective material on the outside will be better in keeping it cool than on the inside. So some thin reflective cover you can put on the outside in the summer is likely a good complement to that blinds. Because the windscreen cover can behold in place with the doors and windscreen wiper outside reflective blinds can be thin and still easy to put up.
It is a myth that black attracts the heat, I found this out whilst I was in Oman when u saw all the women in black, I was so surprised and was like they must be over heating and in fact it keeps them cool. It is true we have not had super hot weather but we have had hot days and they have been amazing for keeping it cool in the front, we are looking forward to testing them a lot more in the future 🙂👍
@@campervibe Black materials do not attract heat, what they do is absorb more light. That is why they are black, material with another color will reflect back that color of light, white will reflect back all colors of light. The reflecting back of the light is why they have a color. Black material will reflect some light and white will absorb some material.
The reason black clothes can keep you cool in a desert is that black fabric will let very little light through. That way you can keep the light from heating up the clothes you have below, they can quite tick so the rate heat is conducted to the inside is low. The clothes are also loose fitting so you can have air circulation behind them. The result is different if you for example paint a metal sheet black or white and leave it out in the sun, the black metal sheet will heat up faster and get warmer than the white metal sheet.
With window blinds are on the inside of the window there is no airflow in between them and what you like to keep cool, What you do have is a window that will trap air that is heated up on the inside, so not exactly the same as desert clothes. As a comparison, black outer clothes in a desert are more like an awning or blinds outside of a camper van, one that absorbs all light will be more effective than one that lets some light through in keeping the van cool.
I did not mean to say that they do not keep the inside cooler compared to if there is no blind, they will certainly do that. What I meant to say is that reflective material will keep it cooler. So a simple reflective layer outside of the windscreen in addition to the blind on the inside will keep it even cooler.

Emily, go to Bulgaria, they have biscuit shops and mini biscuit warehouses over there. You buy mixed bags of the stuff for 5 Lev which equates to £2.50, or you can just stick up on a box, I kid you not, of your favourite brand.

If you're using internal blinds, as Emily mentioned, you can't avoid condensation. If you haven't got one a Karcher window vac, or equivalent, will make short work of drying the windows in the morning.
I wouldn't be without mine.

What you can buy is anti condensation bags which are filled with those granules that absorb water

I have a simple plan when I visit busy places like Venice. Rucksack, Bottle of wine, Cheese & biscuits. You can usually find something to sit on and watch the world queue to be served overpriced poor quality food.
For me it's not about saving money. (Good side benefit though!) I like to eat good quality food, when I want without waiting or queueing.
Keep up the good work girls, looking forward to seeing next weeks show.

Many moons ago we took a day trip to Venice from our hotel about 20mile outside Venice,Included in the trip price was a voucher for a cake (we had to pay for coffee)from the cafe at St Marks Square, So we ordered our coffee then handed the voucher for the cake,Well the waiters face ,he looked at us as if we had just crawled out of the lagoon, The cake came and it was one of those individual wrapped cakes you get from Aldi 6 for 20p ones 😀

Brought back happy memories of our last holiday abroad before lockdown. We found some really nice cheap places to eat off the beaten track and a fantastic pub called 'The Devils Forest'. Spent most evenings in there the locals are lovely.
We have found pretty much everyone has been friendly wherever we have been, it's been really nice. Glad you guys had a great time there

Had a day trip from the Italian lakes back in 1995. The tour guide pointed out the major sights but then said just take the side alleys and explore and get lost, when you want to return just follow the signposts back to st marks sq.
She also warned us of the prices in the sq but there was a great atmosphere with a wedding party and quartets playing at each restaurant trying to outdo each other so we decided to order coffees anyway. When the bill came it was itemised as coffees and music 🎶
