    LYRICS:
I played a Fleecemane Lion and priority was passed
I sac’d my Ember Hauler put the trigger on the stack
I paid five for monstrosity to make it proof from hex
I Vial’d in Palace Jailer then to make myself the best
I made a Jailer copy with my Faerie Artisans
But what if I Tragically Slip?
And what if I Doomedly Fall?
    Then am I the monarch?
    Just let me know
And what if I Powerdly Sink?
And what if I Mindedly Break it?
    Then am I the monarch?
    Just let me know
I played my Palace Jailer first and I was in control
I got my copy second, second to resolve
No, the effect goes on the stack, the last is first to go
Well if you really wanna know-
    What if I Tragically Slip?
    What if I Doomedly Fall?
    Then am I the monarch?
    Just let me know
And what if I Powerdly Sink?
And what if I Mindedly Break it?
    Then am I the monarch?
    Just let me know

In case anyone is wondering what is actually happening, and since I'm not getting this song out of my head:
Assuming Player A) is the active Player / its Player A’s turn, since we don’t see any flash-outlets and he plays a creature:
    1) [Fleecemane Lion] is cast and resolves => [Fleecemane Lion] is on the battlefield
    2) [Ember Hauler] is sacrificed => 2 Damage to [Fleecemane Lion] are on the stack (Stack: [Ember Hauler])
    3) Monstrosity is payed (Stack: Monstrosity > [Ember Hauler])
    4) Aether Vial is activated to put [Palace Jailer] into play. [Palace Jailer] has two triggers: 1. You become the monarch 2. Exile target creature an opponent controls until an opponent becomes the monarch. Additionally, [Faerie Artisan]s trigger. Now, the active player (Player A) puts his trigger ([Faerie Artisan]s) on the Stack first, (Stack: Player B becomes monarch > Player B [Palace Jailer] > [Faerie Artisan]s trigger > Monstrosity > [Ember Hauler]). Now, player B could either target [Faerie Artisan]s with his Jailer or [Fleecemane Lion]. Since he tries to [Tragic Slip] [Fleecemane Lion] I’ll assume he wants his Jailer to target [Faerie Artisan]s)
    5) Player B casts [Tragic Slip] targeting [Fleecemane Lion] (Stack: [Tragic Slip] > Player B becomes monarch > Player B Palace Jailor > [Faerie Artisan]s trigger > Monstrosity > [Ember Hauler]). Since Player A next casts [Doomfall], which is a sorcery and the stack needs to be empty for player A to cast a sorcery we now need to let the stack resolve. Let’s see
    Stack Resolve:
    1) [Tragic Slip] targeting fleecmane Lion: [Fleecemane Lion] gets -13/-13 (morbid cause of the sacced creature) and becomes a -10/-10 / Dies
    2) Player B becomes the monarch
    3) Player B’s [Palace Jailer] exiles [Faerie Artisan]s
    4) [Faerie Artisan]s still trigger and put a [Palace Jailer] Token into play under Player A’s control (Two new triggers on the stack: Player A becomes the monarch, and player A exiles a creature) - Stack: Player A becomes monarch > Player A [Palace Jailer] > [Faerie Artisan]s trigger > Monstrosity > [Ember Hauler]
    5) Player A becomes the monarch. This will fulfill the “until an opponent becomes the monarch” condition of Player B’s [Palace Jailer] and [Faerie Artisan]s will return to the battlefield
    6) Player A exiles a creature with his [Palace Jailer] => Player B’s [Palace Jailer]
    7) Monstrosity fizzles, since fleecemane lion is not there anymore.
    8) [[Ember Hauler]] fizzles, since it has no more valid targets ([Fleecemane Lion] is dead => [[Ember Hauler]] can’t target it anymore)
Now player A casts [Doomfall]… since Player B has no more creatures (his palace Jailor is in exile) Player A will probably choose the "exile a nonland card from opponents hand" mode and exiles a nonland card from Player B’s hand. Next Player A casts [Powersink]… since the only other spell on the stack at this moment is [Doomfall], he targets his own spell for [Reasons] (Decksperado?). Player B chooses to cast [Mindbreak Trap] (for free btw, Player A cast 3 spells this turn: [Fleecemane Lion], [Powersink] and [Doomfall], altho only two of them are currently on the stack) and can now choose to exile any number of spells from the stack ([Doomfall] & [Powersink]) and will probably do so for [Doomfall] or both.
To answer the question: No it is not a monster, but dead and Player A is the monarch.
    Summary:
    - [Fleecemane Lion] is dead > not a monster
    - Player A’s [Palace Jailer] Token exist
    - Player A’s [Faerie Artisan]s exist
    - Player B’s [Palace Jailer] is in exile, due to Player A’s [Palace Jailer] Token’s effect.
    - Player A countered his own [Doomfall] and player B countered Player A’s [Doomfall] and Player A’s [Power Sink].
Now there are a few other assumptions to be made:
=> What if they missplayed [Doomfall] as an instant and put it on the stack?
[Mindbreak Trap] would have exiled [Doomfall] and powersink (which would probably have been targeting [Tragic Slip] in this case) => Exact same results (All the other stuff happening were abilities, not spells, so [Mindbreak Trap] can't interact with them) (Also: Judge would probably rewind the game to the moment [Doomfall] was played and let the stack resolve first?)
=> What if Player B’s [Palace Jailer] targeted [Fleecemane Lion]? Nothing, since its dead when the effect resolves
=> If player B would be the active player (player B's turn) and player A has flash outlets for Creatures AND sorceries that we don't see the Player B [Palace Jailer] / Player A [Faerie Artisan]s trigger would be reversed ([Faerie Artisans] > Player B Monarch > Player B [Palace Jailer]) which would lead to: [Fleecemane Lion] is still dead. Player B is now the monarch, instead of Player A and the [Faerie Artisan]s would be in exile, instead of Player B's [Palace Jailer]. In that case it would not be a Monster and Player B would be the monarch.
Correct me if I'm wrong somewhere :D
I had to edit this because I forgot that saccing a creature triggers morbid, thanks @Rovesul

After having to redo my answer multiple times, I have to point this out in your summary:
Because of the sacrifice cost in Ember Haulers activated ability the Tragic Slips Morbid effect is active meaning it will give the Fleecemane Lion -13/-13 instead, thus making it not a monster and just dead.
Otherwise, really great and exactly the kinda stuff I would do too xD

Okay, so... Blue sweater Remy played Fleecemane Lion. Then Red Shirt Remy sacrificed his Ember Hauler targeting the Fleecemane Lion. In response, Blue Sweater activated Monstrosity. In response to that, Red Shirt activated Vial putting Palace Jailer into play, this put both Palace Jailer's ETB triggers on the stack. (He did not declare a target for the second half of Palace jailer so we are going to ignore it.) When Palace jailer came into play Blue Sweater's Faerie Artisans triggered making a copy of the Jailer into play putting his ETB triggers on the stack.(He also did not declare a target for the Jailers second trigger.) Red Shirt then cast Tragic Slip in response, targeting the fleecemane lion. (who is still not monstrous because the ability has not resolved yet.) Blue Sweater then cast doomfall on Red Shirt's Jailer. (Blue Sweater cast a sorcery at instant speed but we will allow it.) Blue Sweater then cast Power Sink. (I am assuming he is targeting the Tragic Slip.) In response, Red Shirt cast Mindbreak Trap on the Power Sink and Doomfall. So, The Power Sink and Doomfall would get countered by the MindBreak. Tragic Slip would then resolve, killing the Lion. The copy of Jailer would trigger first making Blue sweater the Monarch. Then Red Shirt's Jailer's trigger would resolve making him the Monarch. In the end Remy is the Monarch. Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

For those who really want to know:
Blue Remy seems to be the active player, because he played the Fleecemane Lion, a creature.
Fleecemane Lion is put on the stack and resolves.
Red Remy activates Ember Hauler's ability, targeting Fleecemane Lion (notably, this is not a triggered ability per the lyrics).
Blue Remy responds by activating Fleecemane Lion's monstrous ability. The stack now looks like this:
[(B) and (R) represent ownership by blue and red shirt Remys, respectively]
    Fleecemane Lion's monstrous ability (B)
Ember Hauler's activated damage ability (R)
Next, red Remy activates his Aether Vial's activated ability. We'll assume blue Remy immediately passes priority and allows the Vial ability to resolve. Red Remy puts a Palace Jailer onto the battlefield. Red Remy's Palace Jailer's abilities trigger, and Blue Remy's Faerie Artisans' ability triggers. The triggers are put onto the stack in active player, then non-active player order, so now the stack looks like this:
    R's Palace Jailer's monarch triggered ability (R)
R's Palace Jailer's exile triggered ability (presumably targeting Fleecemane Lion) (R)
Faerie Artisans' triggered ability copying Palace Jailer (B)
    Fleecemane Lion's monstrous ability (B)
Ember Hauler's activated damage ability (R)
Here's where things get messy, because it seems like the Remy's may not be properly resolving abilities and passing priority to one another after this point. The next thing we see is blue Remy putting the token copy of Palace Jailer into play, so that means that red Remy's Palace Jailer's abilities must have resolved. Blue Remy's token copy of Palace Jailer's abilities trigger, and the game and the stack look like this:
    The game:
    Red Remy is the monarch
    Fleecemane Lion has been exiled
    The stack:
B's Palace Jailer token's monarch triggered ability (B)
B's Palace Jailer token's exile triggered ability (presumably targeting R's Palace Jailer) (B)
    Fleecemane Lion's monstrous ability (B)
    (now orphaned)
Ember Hauler's activated damage ability (R) (now missing a target)
Next, we see red Remy casting Tragic Slip targeting Fleecemane Lion. What must have happened is that Blue Remy's Palace Jailer token's triggers must have resolved, making blue Remy the Monarch, and exiling red Remy's Palace Jailer. That would leave us here:
    The game:
    Blue Remy is the Monarch
R's Palace Jailer's one-shot effect from it's exiling ability has ended, so Fleecemane Lion is back on the battlefield
    The stack:
    Fleecemane Lion's monstrous ability (B)
    (now orphaned)
Ember Hauler's activated damage ability (R) (now missing a target)
Now Red Remy can cast the Tragic Slip targeting Fleecemane Lion (with morbid activated from the Ember Hauler that was sacrificed earlier).
    The game:
    Blue Remy is the Monarch
Fleecemane Lion is back on the battlefield
    The stack:
Tragic Slip targeting B's Fleecemane Lion (R)
    Fleecemane Lion's monstrous ability (B)
    (now orphaned)
Ember Hauler's activated damage ability (R) (still missing a target, as B's newly returned Fleecemane Lion is a new object)
Next comes the first apparent rules violation: Blue Remy seems to cast Doomfall in response to Tragic Slip, even though it's a sorcery. He must think it's an instant, because he next tries to Power Sink red Remy's Tragic Slip, which means that Tragic slip must still be on the stack at this point. Red Remy responds by casting Mindbreak Trap (with the trap cost enabled by blue Remy's Fleecemane Lion, Doomfall, and Power Sink) targeting blue Remy's Power Sink, leaving the stack like this:
R's Mindbreak Trap targeting B's Power Sink
B's Power Sink targeting R's Tragic Slip
B's Doomfall (inappropriately casted) targeting R
R's Tragic Slip targeting B's Fleecemane Lion
B's Fleecemane Lion's monstrous ability (now orphaned)
R's Ember Hauler's activated ability targeting B's Fleecemane Lion (missing a target)
It seems like the conflict here stems from confusion about the order in which the Palace Jailer triggers resolved. The Remy's agree that red Remy got his Palace Jailer first, and blue Remy got his second, but due to active player, then non-active player trigger ordering, Red Remy's triggers will resolve first, and blue Remy's second. The bit about the removal spells is more or less irrelevant (Doomfall timing aside) because Palace's Jailer's exile ability only cares about who's the monarch, not whether or not Palace Jailer is still in play.
To clean up the situation, a Judge might decide to back up to the point where blue Remy inappropriately casted the Doomfall, or might decide to leave the stack as is, because a couple of hidden counterspells have been revealed. In either case, Blue Remy is the Monarch, and Fleecemane Lion is not monstrous.

Nice answer! One correction- Palace Jailer's trigger creates a one-shot effect, and then a second one-shot effect when the opponent becomes the monarch. There are no state triggers here.
You could also interpret all actions in the song as legal, in which case Doomfall was cast after everything resolved, and blue Remy is Power Sinking their own Doomfall. (They never indicate in the video what it's targeting.)

Conclusion: the player with the non-monsterous lion is the Monarch.
    1. Two damage on lion
    2. First jailer enters (Monarch) Presumably targeting the lion. This card's effects must fully resolve for Faerie Artisan to trigger.
    3. Faerie Artisan trigger on stack.
    4. Tragic Slip on stack. The lion is in exile and so an invalid target. This is probably a bad play but Faerie Artisan is a valid target.
    5. The stack must resolve before downfall can be played. Faerie Artisan gets 13 -1/-1 counters and is sent to the graveyard by state based effects.
    6. Jailer token enters making a new Monarch and presumably targeting the nontoken jailer. The order of triggers will determine the order but the lion returns & the nontoken jailer is exiled.
    8. Doomfall was played presumably forcing the old Monarch to sacrifice a creature but he doesn't appear to have a creature so it does nothing.
Extra Conclusion: these players should have called a judge when the jailer was copied before it had resolved.

Resolving the stack: mindbreak trap exiles power sink and doomfall (which shouldn't be castable unless there is a leyline of anticipation or similar effect), then tragic slip will resolve and give fleecemane lion -13/-13 (since ember hauler died this turn) and die due to having less than 0 toughness, then (and it gets complicated, I messed this up the first time I tried to comment this) the real palace jailer's ETBs will resolve, the exile effect will have no valid targets and be removed and hat Remy will become the monarch, then faerie artisans' trigger will resolve (artisans and palace jailer trigger from the same event, so active player's effects go on the stack first, which would be no-hat Remy's faerie artisans) and create a palace jailer token, the token's ETBs go on the stack, palace jailer will be exiled and no-hat Remy will become the monarch, then fleecemane lion's monstrous ability will resolve and do nothing, then ember hauler's ability will have no legal targets and be removed and the stack is clear.
This assumes that it is no-hat Remy's turn, however since he played a sorcery at instant speed it could be hat Remy's turn in which case it will be different, let's have a look.
Everything is the same until after fleecemane dies, then faerie artisans' trigger resolves and creates a palace jailer token and its ETBs go on the stack, palace jailer is exiled and no-hat Remy becomes the monarch, then the original palace jailer' ETBs resolve, the exile effect will have no valid targets and be removed and hat Remy becomes the monarch, the original palace jailer will be returned to the battlefield and its ETBs will trigger, hat Remy will exile either faerie artisans or the jailer token and will become the monarch again, then the rest of the stack is the same as above.
TLDR; fleecemane dies no matter what and, depending on whose turn it is, either no-hat Remy gets absolutely blown out with no crown or no-hat Remy has a decent board advantage and the crown.

    • @Arcticsharpshooter
      @Arcticsharpshooter 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

After reading through your analysis, I would like to point out three things that you missed out.
      1) HR tells the judge he "Mindedly breaks IT", it being the Power Sink. We can assume that Mindbreak Trap counters only Power Sink.
      2) In the first scenario, where it is NHR's turn, you forgot the Faerie Artisans which can be targeted by Palace Jailer's trigger.
      3) In the current state of the battlefield, NHR's Palace Jailer token is already on the battlefield! It was put there on resolution of his Faerie Artisans, which, as you correctly remarked, was put onto the stack at the same time as the two triggers of HR's Palace Jailer. So, in the scenario where it is NHR's turn, HR is already a Monarch when we start taking down the top of the stack.

    • @dazaran714
      @dazaran714 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@Arcticsharpshooter 1) That is true, but I assumed that HR exiled doomfall because there is no reason not to and it leads to a worse board state in every permutation of stack resolution (It was probably a incorrect play anyway since it is a sorcery AND he played another instant afterwards without announcing that he was holding priority).
      2) Another assumption from me was that if someone vials in palace jailer in response to someone giving a creature hexproof that they will be targeting that creature. Otherwise they should have targeted faerie artisans with the ember hauler trigger (especially because it can't kill fleecemane lion regardless).
      3) A lot of the visual stuff in this reenactment is wrong because it is a parody music video. If it is NHR's turn and the stack resolved enough for the token to come out, then fleecemane lion would have been exiled by the time tragic slip was played.

I am fairly certain that hat remy is the monarch because going down the stack mind break gets rid of power sink and doomfall leaving the stack with artisan creating a token which if that resolves then we get a no hat remy becomes monarch trigger and then an exile trigger which would then resolve (note that the original jailer exile never resolved) that gets rid of the original palace jailer but then hat remy gets his palace jailer back which then adds another exile and another monarch trigger. Going up the stack we have ember hauler, monstrosity, the trip card (that does not have morbid b/c exile is not killing a creature), original jailer exile, original jailer exile again, hat remy gets monarch (he already is monarch but the affect is still there). The second exile can target either the artisan or the copy and the first exile was targeted at the lion which would then fizzle ember hauler, the trip card (forgot the exact name), and monstrous and the final board state would be hat remy: vial at 4, palace jailer, monarch, lands were not specified. No hat remy: artisan/jailer depending on who hat remy targeted, lands were not specified. So no hat remy is the monarch and no hat remy's lion is infact not "a monster".
(Let me know if there is anything wrong. Also the is almost certainly typos)

    B: plays fleecemane lion

R: sac ember hauler: deal two damage to fleecemane
B: make fleecemane monstrous, giving it hexproof and indestructible
R: tap aether vial: put palace jailer onto the battlefield
Jailer enters, exiling fleecemane and becoming monarch
B: makes copy of jailer with faerie artisans that is also an artifact
Jailer copy enters, targeting the original, exiling it, and becoming the monarch, thereby having fleecemane return, untargeted by any prior actions
Ember hauler ability and fleecemane monstrosity fizzle, due to not existing/having legal targets
R: tragic slip, with morbid, from ember hauler saccing, targeting fleecemane
B: doomfall, targeting the original palace jailer? Which is weird, because the original palace jailer was exiled by its copy
    R: power sink, targeting doomfall
B: mind break trap, targeting (presumably) power sink and tragic slip.
Mind break resolves, exiling tragic slip and power sink
    Doomfall fizzles, targeting nothing.
Blue is left with: faerie artisans, not monstrous fleecemane lion, and palace jailer copy, having exiled original palace jailer, as well as the monarchy
Palace jailer copy will cease to exist once R has another nontoken creature etb
Red will get palace jailer back once they become the monarch again
    Red is left with: nothing

    For those wondering:

-Ember Hauler Trigger Goes On The Stack
    -Monstrosity Is Activated In Response
-Palace Jailer Vials In, His trigger and Faerie Artisans Go On The Stack
-APNAP, Player 1's Turn, Faerie Artisans Trigger Goes On The Stack First, So Palace Jailer Resolves, Exiling Fleecemane Lion And Making P2 The Monarch
-Palace Jailer Token Enters The Battlefield, Exiling Palace Jailer And Making P1 The Monarch
-Fleecemane Lion Returns To The Battlefield Because P1 Is The Monarch, No Longer Monstrous Because It Is Considered A Separate Instance Of The Creature
-Tragic Slip Goes On The Stack With Morbid, As The Ember Hauler Was Sacrificed Earlier That Turn
-Doomfall Is Both Unable To Be Cast, As It Is A Sorcery, And Is Also Unnecessary As P2's Palace Jailer Is Already Exiled
-Power Sink Goes On The Stack To Counter Tragic Slip (Assuming P2 Can't Pay For It)
-Mindbreak Trap Goes On The Stack, Exiling Power Sink
    -Power Sink Is Exiled
-Tragic Slip Resolves, Killing Fleecemane Lion,
-At The End, P2 Just Has A Vial, P1 Has A Palace Jailer Token, Has Fairy Artisans, And Is The Monarch.

  • @TheGoldenHorncall

So I'm not a judge but this is my best guess at what's happening.
    1. Remy 1 plays a 3/3 Fleecemane Lion
    2. Remy 2 sacs Ember Hauler to deal 2 damage to the Lion (for some reason it would live anyway wouldn't it?)
    3. Remy 1 Monstrosities Fleecemane to give it hexproof
    4. Remy 2 flashes in Palace Jailer
At this point the stack starts resolving, no one had any effects after the Jailer was cast. Now Jailer enters the battlefield and it's ETB goes on the stack.
    5. This is the first real question of what's going on. My understanding is that at this point Remy 2's Fairy Artisan's trigger goes on the stack on top of the original Jailer ETB and subsequently the copy of Jailer's ETB goes to the top of the stack.
    6. Remy 1 then asks about casting Tragic Slip in response, so we can say this is on the stack now as well
    7. Remy 2 asks about Doomfall here, but that's a sorcery so that can't be cast until the stack is empty and it's his turn, so it's irrelevant to this situation.
Anyway the way the stack will resolve results in Remy 1 being the Monarch because his Jailer's ETB will resolve last since it was put on the stack first. Tragic Slip doesn't affect this outcome at all one way or the other. Have a great day everyone

My favourite by far is still Land down under because I also love the original song but every single one of em is good, keep it up my man!

Remy, you really need more credit for videos like this. I wish I had some money to become a Patreon, you genuinely deserve it.
