Thank you for including TUH in this reaction video. A few commented on my channel that they discovered me through your channel. It’s really fun to watch u guys react to these rock/punk rock covers. 🤘🏼❤️
been an avid fan since your early days man TUH! still a fan! @Waleska Herrera and Efra how about a rock/punk cover part 2 with comparison to original non rock songs.. i think that slaps!!!
Back in the ‘80s, rock is the bread and butter of a lot of bands. Catering to foreign audiences, yes, we have gotten really good covering foreign music. Although, you can’t deny that OPM Rock has its own flair too!
Thank you Waleska Herrera for always supporting Filipino Artist the Filipino Community appreciates it very much and I hope you much much more Success & Happiness
when my husband joined the singing contest in the company he works for his workmates didn't participate because they said they already knew who will win... his voice is like a rockstar.
At this point guys… we need to get you to the Philippines 🇵🇭 so you could experience this live.. it hits different. Cover bands are freakin’ 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 in the Philippines. It shocked me that they weren’t the original singers of the songs I heard at the shows I’ve been at because they were that good! I think I will need to start a GO FUND ME page 🤣🤣🤣 to get you both (with your mama and papa) on the first flight to the Philippines. ✈️
Rock music has always been a staple scene and genre in the Philippines since the 1970's, Juan Delacruz pioneered it and it created a whole generation and culture/subzculture since then. There was even a time where Pinoy Rock spearheaded OPM music during the whole 1990's-early 2000's. We even had 2 radio stations dedicated to playing 24/7 rock music. LA 105.9 & NU 107.5(which now Wish 107.5)
Since 1960's till now the entertainers in hotels, Cruise ships , restaurants in East Asia, South East Asia and other parts of the world were Filipinos. Filipinos have distinct voice among Asians because most of us have little Spanish, Chinese, American and Malay blood . One of the most emotional singers in the world were Spanish. There was once an Asian singing competition in East Asia and they did not invite a Filipino singer and you know why ,like lets give others a chance. In Malaysia and Indonesia they have good singers also.
That first guy is Jerome Abalos. He used to play for a Technical/Thrash band called Death By Stereo. He also composed and sang a timeless Filipino classic ballad called "Larawang Kupas". The band he's playing with right now, playing covers, is composed of his kids and some friends of his.
I think the reason why Filipinos are good with covers is because most of us do mimic the original singers singing style by instinct. We can sing with very messed up lyrics but you might not notice because they sound the same. Ordinary people dont attend voice lessons but they'll sound almost like the original after too much karaoke practice. 😂😅
There are thousands of cover bands here in the Philippines. You'll see them in every bar, restaurant, beach resort, corporate event, all sorts of parties, etc. You'll see them also all over the world. If there's a resto or bar with a live band in any corner of the world, that band is probably a Pinoy band. All cruise ships also have a Pinoy band on-board. Their dream is to go mainstream but yeah, mainstream music companies here is another long story. One guy you know who made it is Mitoy Yonting, he is actually from a very popular cover band before he became mainstream. Another is Aegis, they were a cover band playing in Japan beforw they eventually penetrated the mainstream scene.
There are so MANY talented vocalists and bands in the Philippines that not all of them can be signed by recording companies because the competition is very TOUGH.they usually end up unsigned and work in bars and hotels, local and overseas.
Growing up in the Philippines, a lot of bands everywhere in the 90's. Just a bunch of guys or classmates in high school forming a band and just jamming. They were everywhere. And it's all over the country. There are events like Battle of the Bands in every city or town it seems like. Commonplace.
The band doing “Livin’ On A Prayer” is The Solabros, a family band of blood brothers featuring their dad, Jerome Abalos on vocals. You should react to their recent “live” covers of “Eruption/Jump” by Van Halen and “18 and Life” by Skid Row. They will blow you away!
Skychurch, P.O.T.(they're more funk rock, but the band slaps), Greyhoundz, Wolfgang, Razorback, Kjwan, Slapshock, Wilabaliw, Cheese(formerly known as Queso) and Saydie. Leaning into alternative, there are some notable bands as well - Franco, Urbandub, Bamboo, Kamikazee, Sandwich, The Dawn, Chicosci, Sugarfree, Tanya Markova, Mayonnaise(the band who covered Paramore in this video), and Parokya ni Edgar.
Grew up in the Philippines not in the big city but in the barrios, listening to rock cover in neighborhood parties and my cousins chilling during “inuman” sessions.🎉
When something is 'weird' or hard, we like to challenge that by emulating that. We try to see if we can do it, then we try to see if we can 'bend' it to something else.
Cover Bands are basically one of the Philippines Export, aside from Nurses. And all of them have roots in classic rock since it is what's popular here and outside the Philippines.

The origin of Filipino Cover band awesomeness is becausze we have US Bases in Central Luzon for decades before they left in the 90s..The streets of Angeles City, Pampanga is full bars that had cover bands covering Top 40 stuff and hard rock..and rarely Hair Band covers too..
International cruise ships, big chain hotels, overseas clubs everywhere around the world.....they all employ Filipino cover bands that run the gamut of every genre you can think of because they are that good. These bands are so perfectionists that they can cover a song note for note just as it was originally recorded.
Filipinos are good at mimicking or copying. It is a talent on its own. The phenomenon of Filipinos being adept at covering Western songs but facing challenges in producing globally recognized original music is a fascinating subject to explore. Filipinos put a lot of emphasis on vocal talent over songwriting, and maybe the language barrier doesn't help either.
Mitoy and the Draybers Band is one of the best Filipino rock cover bands I've seen. But they focus on 80s-early 90s rock. They used to do street performances with a standee of Ellen Degeneres to try to catch her attention and get themselves invited to her show. Mitoy went on to join and win the first season of The Voice Philippines. You've reacted to him a few times.
youtube says this was a 10mins long vid. it feels like a 2 min videos for me. what just happened? one minute I was watching, the next minute it was over.
when you go to the philippines, i would reccommend you guys to go to clubs/bars with live bands wherever in the philippines... i promise you guys! you'll enjoy it ..
if you want to jump in the rabbit hole of rock in the PH you can start with Rakista Radio, they are a youtube channel that bands upload their cover that is in a rock format. Then the other main stream rock band names like slapshock, etc. they come in all shape and form as we also have heavy metal rock enthusiasts.
TUH been doing covers for years now but didn't get much push by TH-cam algo. I've been listening to him since i heard one of his cover (forgot the title) wayback. Since then his covers where part of my go to playlists. Glad you took notice of him waleska and efra 😁.
That is why specific people here prefer some songs and not others it suits their voice more than other songs... the one singing creed is one perfect example.
We have also the bigest event ...PULP SUMMER SLAM..The festival consisted of local and international rock and metal bands with the occasional line-up of hip hop, ska, reggae, pop rock, and other genres. The event was held in Manila, 1.Franco 2. Slapshock 3.greyhoundz 4.Urbandub 5.siakol
I thought they will react also to Salarin Salarin (Bini parody cover) and Wag To (Gento parody cover) Wag To is fire🔥🔥🔥🎵🎵 Wag To, Gin To, Kumain ka na lang ng Bingo Bingo🎵
There's a lot you have to see yet in Philippine Rock/Alternative Bands. Slapshock, Wolfgang, Razorback are some the hardcores. Kamikazee, Teeth, The Dawn. Chicosci are some of the mediumcores. Then there's a lot of alternative rock bands like Rivermaya, Eraserheads, Bamboo, Parokya ni Edgar. You may also add 6 Cycle Mind, Orange and Lemons, Hale, Cueshe, Spongecola, Itchyworms, Rocksteddy, Callalily, and many more, You can google them all and listen to them. Most of them have songs that are mostly in English.
Suggest watching the cover of TUH more... The singer is the only one recreating the covers from all the instruments and stuff. Unbelievable but great and true
