I have bought the V3-31. I was hoyt/bowtec for years. Had serious problems with the hoyt got no help from them. Finally bought the Mathews. I can say, it is the smoothest quietest most accurate bow I have ever owned. I will never go back.
I have the VXR 28 with 28" draw length at 70 lbs. Great shooting and very accurate bow. My only dislike is the extra effort needed to get it over the backwall thru the draw cycle. So today I just bought the V3 27 with 28" draw at 70lbs. Smooth as silk draw cycle all the way thru. And shoots a little better than the VXR at the shops 20 yard indoor range. It went home with me and I kept the VXR. I also have the Z7 and an LX. As an experienced long time bowhunter and shooter, I can say that there is enough difference between the VXR and the V3 to justify buying it. I am glad I did.

I just purchased the VXR 31.5 this year and I absolutely love it. The V3 seems to be the exact same bow except for the cable guard. My only concern is the thinner limbs and smaller limb pockets seem to flex a whole lot more than the VXR. That might not be a big issue but I don’t know until one has been shot and out through the paces. I kinda prefer the stronger limbs and tougher limb pockets, but I’m still new to Archery.
@@byronnlangley the vxr is a good bow but putting that cable guard in the true cent makes a HUGE difference in timing of the cams, thus more accurate. I saw a slow motion video of it and their was a difference. I did like the smoother draw of the V3 or the VXR and both were longer bows.
@@commonsenseapproach101 that is a big plus but the weaker limb and limb pockets I’m not exited over, I draw at 75# so I need the stronger limbs it’s a compromise for me but I do like the center roller guide no doubt
been shooting my triax for 2 going on 3 hunting seasons now its been the best mathews bow I’ve had so far coming from a lx and z9 also a bowtech. i can hold and shoot 7 arrows in a row without getting too wobbly @70# and its really smooth and quiet
I just don’t know why everyone bashes these companies, Hoyt and Mathews bows are top tier but that doesn’t mean they are finished making fine adjustments to make them even better.
I just chronoed my v3 31 it ran a 485 grain arrow 296,296,297... im happy with it seeing as I'm just getting back into bow hunting after being out of it for 10+years
The roller guard is an excellent upgrade for big fletching. This year I’ll stay with my traverse. Unless I could put my hands on a v3 31 and see if it feels better than my traverse.
They shortened the bow by at least 3" and its still heavy as a brick. I don't know why these company's can't make a light weight bow. Who wants to lug around a 6+ lb bow
Mike you’re clueless. I’m not buying this bow because they made it too thin and shaved off too much weight. Never should have made the limbs thinner. I’ve had too many splintered limbs with the VXR. And they made the limb pockets too short on this bow. The limbs need that stability.

Only one super huge problem. 6 inch brace height is absurd for any hunting. Ive worked with the countrys best bow tech for years and the 7 inch brace height is absolutely perfect or much more forgiving. Beautiful bow just stop worrying about speed and remember a quiet bow kills, not a fast bow. Ps I saw a pro shooting this 29 inch draw 400 grain arrow at 289 fps. That's plenty fast.

I just received the 27" V3 as a Christmas gift. The bow is set at 70lbs with the limb bolts cranked all the way down. Can you change the draw weight by changing some part of the cam modules rather than backing out the limb bolts? I'd like to take it down to 60lbs.
Lol.....I like mathews but let's get something straight. They've hardly changed anything in the lineup since the halon series of bows came out. There are other bow companies out there with far advanced technology. Tuning a mathews with their tophat system is in the stone ages. Kinda surprised they didn't work on that issue. I don't see how a bent down cable rod is gonna make that much of a difference.
Waited for Mathews new 33 axel to axel bow NOT. So it will save a trip to Lancaster Archery. I can buy another brand local. I would give Mathews a three out of ten for looking forward and taking care of their customers.

Correct, new year, new flagship. Usually companies continue the current flagship in the "second tier" you will usually see minor tweeks for a couple years (like this compared to the VXR) then after a few years a totally new bow.
Eastern tree stand hunting doesnt matter if youre around a 30” draw...i only hunt out of a climber and saddle in New England and still dont want any sharper of a string angle than a 32 or less ATA. Wish i got a Traverse when i could have. Im looking into 34 ATA for my next bow...companies arent changing much nowadays. Even tho they’re “new” models. The cable roller design seems to be onto something though

I have a hoyt rx-1 now and i love it but the cams are a bit aggressive at 75# and 29.5” draw. I wanna try a PSE evo 33 or something similar with 33/35 ATA. What draw length are you at man?
@Rusty Shackleford yeahh very true. I never even shot one truth be told but i know the draw cycle and flatness of the bow were money. Im actually at a 30” draw but we set it a touch over 29.5 for hunting clothing and layers. Im very curious about the prime and pse bows also. Not sure about the prime but i know the cam systems on the PSE now are super smooth. The carbon riser is nice and all but honestly i think an aluminum riser especially longer ata would shoot flatter and definitely more dead in hand.

Theres only a few minor tweaks with Dudleys model because they had such short time to work together on it before the model came out...i love dudley tho and everything he does. I have and hunt with his releases. And im curious what they do with this years models after a full year under their belts. Yes the grips have always been moneyy but i put an ultra view grip on my hoyt and its even better now. Better grip angle and slightly slimmer but still that great shape and feel. Good luck rest of season. Im in RI btw. Hunt mostly all public unfortunately lol

Riser length helps with aiming. In the past, if you wanted a longer riser, you had to get a bow with a longer ATA. Mathews is making it so that guys with a longer draw length can shoot these shorter ATA bows because the riser is so long.
Nope. Physics says otherwise. It’s only a different pivot point, plus with less limb area flexing under load that directly makes up for any loss of efficiency from the more compact limb angle. Tests have already proven the Mathews are just as fast as every other flagship out there if not faster even at heavier arrow weights.

technology can be appealing to some, if not deceiving, but it all comes down to the right bow that fits best for the shooter.

Vxr28 too short for anything but hunting really. I like mine too but being 6 ft 3 string angle can be little much

Guess I'm sticking with my Halon 32. Draw length is too short since the VXR.
I had a Halon 32 and they are nice, but it is not the VXR 31.5 that I have now. It feels like they took my Halon 32 and fixed it perfectly.

You can either twist the limb bolts out or you can get new Switchweight modules to make it a 50-60 pound bow

It will not. 😢. I just was at the shop setting mine up and it won’t fit. Vapor Trail is working on a solution, but nothing imminent apparently.

So now the vxr has a aggression at the end of the draw but before it was buttery smooth

Very disappointed with how much they didn’t do. I sold the Vxr I thought it was that bad and way to heavy when loaded with all my stuff.
Heavy bows shoot better🤷🏼♂️
