I love the work of Chrissy and the boys. I'll give cred to Mark McEntee too, because he was her partner/collaborator. Deep respect for their catalogue.
Hi Saeed, It's great to see you checking out Divinyls. I attended their first gig in 1980, and took very early pictures of the band. Their original bass player was Jeremy Paul from Air Supply. Chrissy and the boys would play in Kings Cross (Sydney's red light district) in the early 80's and were quite frightening. Chrissy would jump into a punch up between guys at her gig and had no problem throwing her own. She and her bassplayer (Rick Grossman) pissed me off at one time, but that's a story for another Divinyls video - if you're interested. Check out ''Boys In Town'', ''Divinyls - Only Lonely (Desperate New York version)'', ''Divinyls - Science Fiction (Desperate New York video) (HD video for reaction channels)''... Use the best sources. Cheers!
@@SaeedReacts. I got loads of experiences. I was sneaking into the venues in Kings Cross to see Cold Chisel before they got signed back in '77. I was about 14. Luckily, I had older mates that looked out for me. Some early photos I took of INXS in 1978/79 have surfaced on the internet, and I don't know how it happened. Oh well... Keep up the good work!
Divinyls were a really great band. Chrissy Amphlett was an amazing performer. They've got lots of great songs Sleeping Beauty, Science Fiction, Boys in Town. They were a scrappy post-punk/rocking band.
They're just about my favourite of the Aussie bands. Not all their songs are favourites, but this one sure is, and some of the others are my favourite indy style Australian music.
RIP Chrissie Amphlett. The song 🎵 kind of predicted her death 💀 Scary 😱 Billy Joel wrote Only the Good Die Young. Different song but same idea 💡. Written by her, Mark Entee and Gary Langan. Their most popular song was 'I touch myself', worth a listen if you haven't heard it. Very irreverent for back around 1990 but tame by today's standards. Even after all these years it's in my playlists. Another good Aussie group from back in the day.
Science Fiction and Only Lonely were their hits before that album came out and eclipsed all their prior work, I kinda prefer both of those songs to "I touch myself" but that whole album was pretty good!
@@theoverunderthinker I think it was less the song than it was a snapshot in time. The song captured an element of 1991. So, it's more about the memories that it brings than the song itself. Fun times. Doesn't hurt that she was smokin' hot in the vid.

Thanks for letting me know. Pronounciations are hard, because i look at them with a Flemish/Dutch mind and speak in English. Good review buddy…you’re so authentic…like your style…if u get a chance check out more of them…I always say she was Australia’s rock Debbie Harry…her own style 👌
Divinyls are my favorite Australian band. Chrissy wrote great lyrics. She was a great singer.
Chrissy was wild onstage, great entertainer. RIP.

Divinyls' first album Desperate is one of the best debut albums you will ever hear, bar none.
R.I.P. Chrissy Amphlett. She was a force of nature. 💔 A lot of amazing songs
