It might be better to soak it in a mild detergent for a few hours to loosen the embedded dirt (the longer, the better) before washing. Then, gently brush it before putting in the machine (add some vinegar to the machine). Once dried, then spray with protective spray before use.
The company claims their bags are durable but yet don't want them put in the washing machine. I think it's because there's a bees wax coating on the bag that they don't want washed away. But it can always be reapplied. I haven't put my kanken in the washing machine yet because I don't want it ruined, but I also don't want to have a dirty bag on my back either so I will give it try.
Putting your bag in the washing machine is a risk even if nothing seems wrong the first time. The best way us to hand wash it with mild soap. In the machine it looses its texture on the fabric and can ruin the shape. It might not happen the first time but it will be a regretful decision. Hand wash your backpack....no matter what other people say
I love the way you speak, reflects your calm and cool character. I cannot imagine u getting mad!! Btw; i think u look like cameron diaz! Love from Singapore🇸🇬
The material of the Kånken is PVA, so it should only be surface cleaned! Soaking and machine washing ruins the fabric and makes it deteriorate faster. I had my previous Kånken for almost 20 years and it was mended several times until the zipper broke. These are very durable bags with proper care and definitely worth their price! :)
Try Tuff Stuff cleaner. It’s a BIG yellow can of foaming cleaned. It’s in with the car stuff. It’s meant for car upholstery but I’ve used it on clothes, backpacks, even Coach & Donney purses. :)
I really hate how every instruction for washing this backpack is the same I don't know if they're dumb or what but if you accidentally stained your Kunken backpack you can be scrubbing for so long you're ruined the fabric that way
I agree very over priced...I would definitely have washed it.....Freddie is very sweet with her little sister...You have two beautiful daughters...You must be so proud of xxx
My cat peed on my daughter’s so I had to machine wash it. I will say that I feel like it might have sped the process because there’s a small rip on the front of it, and she’s only had it 2 years. - everyday heavy use though, so I can’t be sure.
Why don't you fill a bucket with Persil and soak the Kanken for a while? Seriously, your use of detergent is appalling. I've washed my Kanken several times at 30 degrees and it has gradually changed the fabric...the fabric edges at the bottom of the straps are fraying now and the fabric of the entire bag is no longer waterproof at all. Handwashing in a sink is probably the best way to go, gently brushing the dirty spots with a toothbrush.
I love your kitchen! The brass faucet is 😍😱 Your dress is also gorgeous!
You can also place delicate items it in a large pillow case before you wash them. This will protect the item from damage.

That sounds like a better idea, thanks
I absolutely adore your kitchen xx

How would you recommend sanitizing a second hand one? :)

Beautiful laundry room

Ahh thankyou, yes I am x
Perhaps you could have soaked the bag in soap, and water first, and also taken a scrub brush to the bottom before the washer.
Yes I should! I will do that next time.
I think you left the hand sanitizer or little hanging thing on the strap when you put it in the washer.
Why not use soap suds? Powder?
Spray with Spray and Wash or Shout. Before washing.
My kind of TH-cam!!! Xxx
She forgot to remove the hand sanitizer clip on the bag
£60?! I bought my bag for £150 🙄 however they are very durable and you can fit in so much in the bag
I always wash my kanken in my washing machine!
How long have you had it? And do you see any difference?

your house is so cool!
Oh thank you
Ok but can I get a tour of your laundry room pls! 😍😍
Can I get update coz im ready throw mine in washer
Did you wash it??? I’m thinking of washing mine but the internet said not to use a washing machine
Did Coco notice it was cleaner?
She saw it hanging on the washing line when she got home from school so yes she did know I'd washed it and was really pleased with the result
You see it's better that it's expensive. You washed instead of throwing away!
Fjallraven kanken say do not put it in the washing machine they made it why listen to a random stranger. Bad job
