35:14 - to me, concentration is one of the best passives in the game revealed thus far, simply because it is, simultaneously, a well-scaling damage buff and also a defensive buff. It seems too reward consistent damage on enemies, especially strong enemies, because having a 1.3 times damage multiplier and having the enemy's powerful skills charge up 50% slower, it seems to be something that will scale forever, and especially be effective against the Uber bosses. The potential issue of the concentration stacks falling off over time might be able to be solved with damage over time, effects, minions, or multiple consistent hits. This seems to be an excellent boss killing ascendancy.
It also feels like he is understanding it differently from me. The way I read it, the damage buff scales as the enemy loses concentration. So after dealing 20% of enemy life, you have a 15% more damage bonus. So you don't need to break concentration before you get value. And it's likely the boss's big attacks are cooldown based, so losing concentration will make them perform their attacks only half as often.
@@cartuniverse2728 Agreed, I don't think Rax fully understood how it works. Well, he definitely didn't as he missed the explanation of what Concentration does. But that aside the damage ramps up as you reduce concentration not only when they are reduced to 0 as he implied.
Yeah slight misunderstanding I think , if you replace the wording for concentration with something like “energy shield” it makes a lot more sense. (Or at least that’s how my brain interpreted it, without the defensive component of ES obv.) Enemies gain trait concentration, value of concentration is equal to 40% of their hp. Enemies lose concentration based on 100% of damage taken. Breaking concentration… blah blah blah. Something like that
Concentration makes the enemies cast spells less often by its own, scaling for as much of their concentration is broken i believe. Also Its good to mention that the trials are made 4 times but only once per level breakpoint gives 2 points Great video!
Thanks Rax for focusing on helping newer players. As a long term follower on TH-cam (pretty sure I have seen 90% of your videos at least) I appreciate that you always try to do that. Bought my SP last night and downloaded to PS5 so I'm all set to go on this journey with you!
For new players and everyone wanting to play the Acolyte of Chayula monk its is VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE: The node giving you instant mana leech requires you to leech mana in the first place! There seems to be little to no access of mana leech on the skill tree: aka 'leech #% of damage as mana' only 'leech % increased damage as mana' which doesn't do anything until your damage actually has a chance to leech mana.
There's a support gem you can use to leech 2% of an attack's physical damage as mana. You can only use it on 1 skill though. Very limited access from what we've seen.
Imagine going Hammer of the Gods with Hourglass support Chronomancer. With "Now and again" and "Unbound Encore" you could at minimum trigger the skill twice, and if you're really lucky, 4 times(1/3*1/3% chance)(or 44% chance to trigger 3 times)
For the altered flesh the chaos res is the important one. The elemental damage exchange is something you don't have to care too much about. the 20% phys to chaos is the kicker. Since hellhound makes you reroute 20% to it, with 20 % phys to chaos that you should mitigate 75% at worst and with CI it would be all of it. What means you receive 30% phys dmg reduction if geared properly at worst and 40% with CI. ( Witch is prime position on the tree to go CI starting in the see of ES nodes if the preview thing is something to go by and keystone is not going to be too far from her) I personally plan on going summoner with hellhound first, pyro pact second into altered flesh and Beidat's will. Pyro pact and flesh are interchangeable depending on the state of my chaos res. Ultimately switching either switching to CI beidat's will and grabing seeting body or taking Beidat's hand instead of pyro pact. I am planning to try most of summons and settle on the ones I enjoy the most. For now mostly looking forward to trying popcorn raging spirits.
As someone new to PoE the biggest concern for me is that I'll get well into the game without realising that I've picked a load of ineffectual skills with no clear indicator that I've done just that.
Good thing about poe2 is that you can repec for gold and it's cheaper at lower levels so if you aren't vibing with it you can change a lot easier than the first one.
Stop fearing and start experimenting. Get used to it and breakthrough to the part where you’re blissfully having fun. It’s time to stop letting yourself be an obstacle.
Quick correction at 29:30 regarding Demon Form. It grants a flat 16% cast speed. Conner corrected himself briefly after. Here's some more info below on Demon Form: Demonic possession --- -Revert to human form on reaching 1 life. -16% increased cast speed -+4 to all spell skills -lose 1% of life per second per Demonflame stack -Deal 10% spell damage per Demonflame stack -Gain 1 Demonflame stack per second
Wow ! Yes I play diablo games aswell and if you never tried minions on POE ONE compared to diablo 4 .....You actually "like" and feel sorry for some of your minions in POE haha. SOme spectres are really incredible ! I will start with sorc then minions after :)
For the Acolyte of Chayula, I'm not sure if anything has changed but my brother was showing me the talents. Chaos Innoculation (Max life becomes 1, immune to chaos damage), Eldritch Battery (Spend energy shield before mana for mana costs, energy shield protects mana instead of life), and Mind Over Matter (All damage is taken from mana before life, 50% less mana recovery rate) with Ravenous Doubts (mana leech is instant) and Consuming Questions (Cannot recharge energy shield, mana leech also effects energy shields) looks like it will go absolutely crazy because a lot of mana talents/nodes also boost energy shield. He's going to try this combo as his first class and I have a feeling once it gets online it will go crazy.
35:47 the reason people are happy with taking decimating strike is because it checks the life total as the enemy spawns. Mean if decimating hits for 30% and then my hit procs I’m probably already capped on concentration reduction. And all I gotta do is keep hitting him to make sure enemies never go above -50% cooldown. It basically works the exact opposite of culling. 37:08 when concentration is broken enemies have -50% cooldown meaning half as many big slams and boss mechanics 38:38 node 3 should(I believe )double dip with meta gems reducing reservation cost AND energy cost meaning more gems going off more often and node 7 basically removes the downside:)
37:24 answer for your concentration question is on the screen xD The lower the concentration the lower the cooldown recovery rate monsters have so they can use their skills less often.
Witchbane plus no mercy seems so good. I think they should be the first 2 choices. 30% more damage after you deal 40% of their life? That's more than half the fight it'll be up. And that's not including the defensiveness of them using their abilities half as often.
Great video, i will be going Gemling legonair Minions mainly because in the past of poe 1 having improved quality on youre minions and +1 to them Heavily boosts them to where if you were to look up a gem level 21 raise specter skill gem it went for decent of divine orbs because its just that good to have on them.

Didn’t see a lot of streams this week but from this video and other raxx stuff this week, you can tell how excited he is for this game. We ready. Goodbye friends. Family. Work. Eating. Sleeping. Even blinking. All exp losses.
Gonna be playing a Mercenary on a Legion Go as a twin stick shooter. Have not made up my mind on ascendancy, but this video definitely pushed me towards gemling!
About the same idea, but then on Steam Deck. Several other options fir that bill too, but Gemling could be a strong option. Given the fact that I've never come above level 94 before rage-ending my seasonals, most of my energy is going to go to the toon that dies the least, haha!
I've switched to playing PoE on my legion go since I bought it when it came out. Love the more casual playstyle and the performance is great. Planning on starting PoE 2 the same way. I might use my TV to play some couch co op with my oldest too. I'm apprehensive about the aiming as a twin stick with all the other buttons to press. Personally I'm leaning towards a poisoning ci Monk of Chayula or a blood witch with all damage bleeds setup. As is tradition I'll probably switch when I hit the character creation step.
@@IJustLikeBikes you've got a point. XYAB buttons are not accessible when aiming with the right thumb stick. But, Legion Space allows us to remap all buttons to whatever, including keyboard keys and key combinations. I'll make it work! :D
@@gumzster My idea with the Steam Input that is available on the Deck out of the box. All kinds of timings and key combinations are possible; if an active toon rpoves to be too much, I'll go minion army (as I did in D4 -- probably Blood Mage for now).

I agree with your thought processing and, as you said, we will need to play a little bit PoE2 to understand how it's gonna work. Thanks for bringing that content up.

Im a mana stacking main from POE 1. And Stormweaver just makes me want to cry with joy. It's perfect Unfortunately the problem with Elememtal Storm is it can't crit and it's 4 points to make it feel good. I think we all agree that Arcane Surge in its current form has to be taken. It's just too damn powerful. At that point doing you pick elemental storm over the other nodes Strike twice, Scouring Winds, or Heart of the Storm.

Shock is a huge damage multiple. I might even take it before the 2nd arcane surge point. - after that pick Scourign winds for more damage or Heart of the storm for more defense. I'm picking Heart of the Storm. 3. Nodes on the tree. -Mind over Matter (non- negotiatable) - Chaos Innoculation: Makes you immune to Choas Damage and bleeding. - Stack as much INT as possible. INT = MANA....MANA EQUALS DAMAGE AND SURVIVAL. - Get "Pure Power", "Arcane intensity", and every node that converts ES into Stun threshold. We've passed the 24h mark. Lets go. Yeah, connor is good. Mr 1 mana left. iirc Jonathan / Mark mentioned something about a unique giving you an extra mana flask. I guess that one kinda mandatory on Pathfinder.
I think a lot of Diablo casual players who are getting hyped about this game are going to be in for a rude awakening when they see how much more difficult and technical PoE 2 is.
it's not that deep dude, ppl are gonna be hooked at the start when they see how much fun it is, no one's gonna be paying attention to difficulty and such cause tbh you just need time to get over it, it's an rpg after all, remember?
Hey Rax just wanted to say thanks for the free PoE2 key the other night. your streams are a continuous source of information and I am looking forward to your PoE2 content.
Yes, concentration does things on its own (there is a tooltip for that in the corner where they showcase the ascendancy), it lowers the cooldown recovery rate for up to 50% at 0 concentration (so twice longer cooldown on monsters with 0 concentration. Probably can affect special abilities on certain monsters, i'm just guessing there)
Planning to go Stormweaver as my first play of Path of Exile of any kind wanted to keep it simple as possible. Also would love to see a video going over what best to spend your points on from RMTX. Like if you bought the 100 supporter pack and got 1000 points, i know smartest is storage, but what storage is best first for new people
Great video for us new to poe. Liked and subbed. I can't decide whether to go blood mage or hammer boy....maybe sorc....jesus, i don't have a clue but watching this has helped me narrow it down to 3 so thank you for that.
You chose very different points to me on each of these ascendancies. Often what you chose as the most important, I considered to be the least important nodes. I think thats really cool that there is such diversity, the ascendancies realllly make you think about what nodes you want. Unless its just pure damage you want then i guess its quite simple.
Check the concentration box on the ascendancy page. It makes monsters have longer cooldowns so bosses will do their abilities slower - it's huge for boss killing.
I have never ever play PoE, I'll jump in this adventure directly from D3 (didn't play D4 eather) so I will use Raxx's videos to guide my progress as I did back in the days for D3 :)
Great info as always, appreciate you putting this sheet together and talking through some good options. I've got paralysis by analysis and this helps, lol. They all seem fun.
Thank you for the video, I thought it was helpful. Along side my journey of learning PoE, regarding the curses/blood witch, I'm building a blood witch chaos build. There's a curse that debuffs for creatures to get -40% chaos resist which means a fuck ton more dmg I think. However it does cost alot of health/mana to spam if need be. The duration could be useful on stronger foes.
One more day and I still have no idea what to start with, this should help. I like the idea of picking based on leveling experience, especially for those of us that are new to this complex game. Having the most fun early on will help me get through the learning curve.
Interesting thoughts as always. The time going into all this is highly appreciated! Many people who feel a bit lost might be looking for some guidance, so it's always helpful to have that, even though pretty much all of it is of course unproven at this point, as you've pointed out. That being said, I will ignore all of it and go Chronomancer, because I just want to stop time :D. If it turns out to be terrible, I'll probably go for a Titan or Deadeye next - or maybe a Bloodmage. Sheesh, there's so many intetresting choices!
Thanks for the vid Rax, I've followed you when playing a couple of ARPGs before, never been into PoE previously as I didn't like the way you pretty much had to follow a build guide and no real freedom, so I'm going into this as a new player and just looking for advice on new player friendly classes. The info in this video is great, feel like I have a lot to learn already, and not even logged in yet. 😆
I think the reason for the culling strike "nerf" is actually it's interaction with decimating strike. Hypothetical example IF culling strike was like in poe 1: DS->hit->cull if the "hit" does enough damage to bring the target down from wherever the DS left it to the cull threshold.. but NOW because the thresholds are checked FIRST we need a second hit which could lead to situations where the cull just ends up being redundant.
Tomorrow can't come soon enough! What Class and Ascendancy are you going to start with?

@@cartuniverse2728 Yeah I think you are right, it seems like a really useful skill for sure!
(Or at least that’s how my brain interpreted it, without the defensive component of ES obv.)
Enemies gain trait concentration, value of concentration is equal to 40% of their hp. Enemies lose concentration based on 100% of damage taken. Breaking concentration… blah blah blah. Something like that
Concentration makes the enemies cast spells less often by its own, scaling for as much of their concentration is broken i believe.
Also Its good to mention that the trials are made 4 times but only once per level breakpoint gives 2 points
Great video!
I was just looking for a video like that Red Rax
Thanks Rax for focusing on helping newer players. As a long term follower on TH-cam (pretty sure I have seen 90% of your videos at least) I appreciate that you always try to do that. Bought my SP last night and downloaded to PS5 so I'm all set to go on this journey with you!
For new players and everyone wanting to play the Acolyte of Chayula monk its is VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
The node giving you instant mana leech requires you to leech mana in the first place!
Maybe items add it? I'm sure it will be in game, especially for Monks.
@@ThatOneKid755 yeah very scary prospect
@@alemayehusolomon941 i hope so otherwise this ascendancy is screwed.
Only melee skills can leech mana. They made it clear that they dont want leech on spells
That sounds dope as hell 😂🔥
Can’t wait until we’ve got Primal and Flail skills to play with. Casters gonna go crazy.
@brilobox2 what skills are those? First time hearing of em
Ignite on hammer of gods will be fun
@@hamedyari9370 Primal probably for the Druid skills and Flail for the Templar skills.
Yes please upload the 3:47 clear video. Thanks.
a 50 min Raxx video is dayyyyys of content for most creators. Appreciate it, big dawg.
Upload the 3:47:00 run!
Spells are generally between 7-12% base crit. Even if using a spell with 12% base, an extra 3% of base crit is a huge amount.
The blood mage looks like such a fun risk / reward playstyle. Definitely going to run this out of the gate.
I agree looks really cool
Came to TH-cam for this exact video. Thank you for your hard work, man. Your excitement for the launch is infectious too. Hype!
Honestly I just want to pick a character that FEELS fun and isn't overly complicated. I'm looking at Invoker, Blood Mage and Chronomancer.
The mechanics are all little more complicated than they look like.
Quick correction at 29:30 regarding Demon Form. It grants a flat 16% cast speed. Conner corrected himself briefly after. Here's some more info below on Demon Form:
Demonic possession ---
-Revert to human form on reaching 1 life.
-16% increased cast speed
-+4 to all spell skills
-lose 1% of life per second per Demonflame stack
-Deal 10% spell damage per Demonflame stack
-Gain 1 Demonflame stack per second
I hear a lot of people saying that reverting to human form at 1% basically gives you full hp, but as I read it your at 1%. Any confirmation on this?
Just one more day to go!!!!!!! I will begin with the Warrior and then play the Witch. I love controlling minions. Necromancer in D4 is so much fun
Absolutely phenomenal. Only content I've seen actually attempting to help people who know nothing.
Raxx is one of the very best out there when it comes to de-overwhelming the PoE noobs
Titan Hulking Form! LETS GO!
You brought me through Diablo 4 as a new player, you will bring me through POE2!!! You’re the best dude seriously!!
imma go warrior witchhunter, getting my Guts build going on.
Raxx makes the best guides for people who are brand new to the game.
never played any POE.....super hyped for this! honestly going in for what seems and feels like the most fun for me. I'm a dad of 2 young kids so my time is minimal I ain't got the time to really min max a character and grind super hard. fun and new is what I'm in for and a world to dive into

Some of the details in this game really appeal to me. Simple things like the names of the invoker tree making a sort of mantra is so cool.
Dude, been stalking every content creator to just dive into the theory a bit. And here you swing out, with content going above and beyond! Awesome! :)
Rax, I really really appreciate your effort trying to break down the game and make our lives easier, that is the type of content I keep looking for. I agree with your thought processing and, as you said, we will need to play a little bit PoE2 to understand how it's gonna work. Thanks for bringing that content up.
25:20 - About curses, there is a skill gem which convert curses to auras, and you reserve 30 spirit per curse you linked to that skill. You can have 5 curses at the same time around you if you can manage spirit cost :D
We don’t know it works that way yet. If it does then there is literally no reason for whispers of Doom to exist.
@@titanicjack6744 yeah my bad on that, still 2 curses aura is not bad at all,you are fine with like dispair and temporal chains for chaos builds, combined with hexblast you get a decent aoe build, but will have to see are numbers are decent enough.
@Rax thank you for these videos man as a newbie coming to this game. I really appreciate it. That helps so much. I’ll be looking forward to more videos in the future. Once the games are early access is open and you learn more. I need all the help I can get.
It doesn't matter what we choose, I think like most of us, we are going to make every class with every ascendancy, ultimately.
Not unless you have thousands of hours at hand.
Have you played PoE before?
This stuff takes a while, especially for new players
@darkdraconis it's 3 acts...
@@motodojo3899 it is said to take around 25hours to complete up until act 3...
You'd also have to spend at least a dozens hours more per ascendancy to actually get some skills and gear to get a feel for the ascendancy.
Ultimately, this little maneuvers going to cost us 51 years
A week ago, I had it narrowed down to 2 ascendancies I wanted to play for launch. By yesterday, I was up to 5. I can't wait to see how many it'll be after this...
If you would literally would look on the pic it says that Concentration increases the monsters Cooldowns meaning it takes them longer to do anything meaningful.
sorry that sounded way more rude then I wanted it too my bad.
As a new person to Poe, this was the most helpful video I've seen.
Red Rax cannot scare you.
Red Rax:
He switched over to bloods😂
When a video starts with a spreadsheet I’m absolutely sold already. Phenomenal work rax, as always!
Im a mana stacking main from POE 1. And Stormweaver just makes me want to cry with joy. It's perfect
Unfortunately the problem with Elememtal Storm is it can't crit and it's 4 points to make it feel good. I think we all agree that Arcane Surge in its current form has to be taken. It's just too damn powerful.
At that point doing you pick elemental storm over the other nodes Strike twice, Scouring Winds, or Heart of the Storm.
Hello, some kind of mana stacking i would like to play.
Im new player to PoE.What ascendancy points you would recommend to looking for? And more important , can we respect this points or are they fix like the ascendancy itself? Best Greetings
@@UntergrundElektronik 1. You can fully respect point within the class...you just can't change accendency at this point
2. -Full arcane surge 4 points (non negotiatable) without it you will run out of mana.
- For Me The next point is Strike twice. Shock is a huge damage multiple. I might even take it before the 2nd arcane surge point.
- after that pick Scourign winds for more damage or Heart of the storm for more defense. I'm picking Heart of the Storm.
3. Nodes on the tree.
-Mind over Matter (non- negotiatable)
- Chaos Innoculation: Makes you immune to Choas Damage and bleeding.
- Stack as much INT as possible. INT = MANA....MANA EQUALS DAMAGE AND SURVIVAL.
- Get "Pure Power", "Arcane intensity", and every node that converts ES into Stun threshold. Without it you will get stunned every time your hit.
- gems and skills are still up in the air...but your main Mets gem aura is Arcmage.
After that everything is a mystery to uncover.
Good Luck

Yeah, connor is good. Mr 1 mana left.
iirc Jonathan / Mark mentioned something about a unique giving you an extra mana flask. I guess that one kinda mandatory on Pathfinder.
I think a lot of Diablo casual players who are getting hyped about this game are going to be in for a rude awakening when they see how much more difficult and technical PoE 2 is.
Yup. They won't last.

I'm looking forward to all your PoE 2 videos. Thanks for the work you put in trying to make games better for gamers.
thank you for this!! loving the community for welcoming new players in and giving good advice
Probably can affect special abilities on certain monsters, i'm just guessing there)
Thanks Raxx for putting all the efforts in , we appreciate it , can't wait to see you online. Lets go !!
Planning to go Stormweaver as my first play of Path of Exile of any kind wanted to keep it simple as possible. Also would love to see a video going over what best to spend your points on from RMTX. Like if you bought the 100 supporter pack and got 1000 points, i know smartest is storage, but what storage is best first for new people
Yup, that’s gonna be my first play through too. That’s the class. I’m going with storm Weaver.
You can't go wrong with the basic currency specific tab.
Thank you Rax this will help me for sure. As a Diablo (2,3,4) casual gamer PoE2 is a really anticipated game. Best of luck to everyone 🍀 let’s enjoy 🎉
Raxx you'er the best watching you since D2R and can't wait to study PoE2 with you, Thanks man! You are awesome)
Great video for us new to poe. Liked and subbed. I can't decide whether to go blood mage or hammer boy....maybe sorc....jesus, i don't have a clue but watching this has helped me narrow it down to 3 so thank you for that.
Great candid content as always Rax. You're my go to guy when it comes to content creators.
Thanks Raxx! I really think early crafting is going to very important to support the ascendancy choices. Craft early, craft often!
Appreciate this content. Never played poe 1 and wanting to try to learn poe2. It’s so daunting but this helps a lot!
You chose very different points to me on each of these ascendancies. Often what you chose as the most important, I considered to be the least important nodes. I think thats really cool that there is such diversity, the ascendancies realllly make you think about what nodes you want. Unless its just pure damage you want then i guess its quite simple.
Raxx, one more night to go man, ONE! My excitement has been bubbling for so long, its ready to explode.
Thx Raxx, for getting me started like you did in D3. You're the best.
Check the concentration box on the ascendancy page. It makes monsters have longer cooldowns so bosses will do their abilities slower - it's huge for boss killing.
Thanks, Raxx! The PoE Community really appreciates you.
Raxx I’m sold!! I’ve never played PoE before I’m getting the old lawnmower 👍
I have never ever play PoE, I'll jump in this adventure directly from D3 (didn't play D4 eather) so I will use Raxx's videos to guide my progress as I did back in the days for D3 :)
Glad you found connor he is absolutely amazing!
Great info as always, appreciate you putting this sheet together and talking through some good options. I've got paralysis by analysis and this helps, lol. They all seem fun.
RED HOODIE! So hyped for POE 2 and following your journey through it.
Thx Rax for another easy to understand infomercial.
Hi rax, thanks for these videos , i'm not an avid arpg player so find your stuff very helpful.
I'm so hyped. Less than a day and a half left.
Connor makes great builds! I am actually looking forward to being wrong about everything and getting to start over without fomo
I agree, Hulking is so good it counts basically as 2x a node, AND you get 20 inventory slots.
WOOOOOOOO! love this. been following all week i cannot wait until release
Isn't a question if resistances can go below zero with exposure, it does. You're thinking of pen.
thank you for bringing us quality content raxx! i love the work you always bring!

Even tho I watch most of not all of the stream I rewatched this video just to support ! Keep us noobs safe in tia new world of Poe 2
cool vid, i liked the pac man note :D im going for invoker
I think the reason for the culling strike "nerf" is actually it's interaction with decimating strike. Hypothetical example IF culling strike was like in poe 1: DS->hit->cull if the "hit" does enough damage to bring the target down from wherever the DS left it to the cull threshold.. but NOW because the thresholds are checked FIRST we need a second hit which could lead to situations where the cull just ends up being redundant.
Great vid. Subbed. Hype is off the charts for this game!
Great video man, thanks for the clear info. Hyped for the game tomorrow!
