When I lived in Miami, I grew orchids exclusively. I was there when Andrew hit. Disastrous for the growers! So sad. I never joined the Aroid society, but the Orchid society instead. These groups are a lot of fun if you have one in your area. Thank you Sean! Another fine tour ❤
Thanks Sean! Beautiful as always and my Birkin is going white - got practical advice. Just chop it back, no need to restart from cuttings. Your tours are great, I like the insight into the business end and seeing how plants are grown all over the world.
Re: Hurricane Andrew - imagine with all the nurseries that were destroyed, and all their stock blown away… just imagine all those surviving plants growing wild beyond out in the wild! Thanks again for another great video. I love seeing these behind the scenes of all these great legendary growers.
For all plant enthusiasts, I think this conversation is stellar of all! Although,I personally did not understand all the nomenclatures mentioned,I found it so very interesting, educational, engaging, and fun to just listen! Bill’s knowledge of each plant history is so amazing! I also find him sincere and with integrity with his “ don’t bite the hand that feeds you” comment! So,I take it that he only sells to wholesalers? I am wondering because I have not seen his farm’s name in any of the big box stores in my area in Florida. Since you’ve seen his farm,do you think his rivals Costa farm in Florida? Everything here is by Costa. Just wondering what he thinks of Costa farm.
28:43 .... Thats a new species of Alocasia which is common in the Samar province of Philippines. It catches the attention of houseplant hobbyist during pandemic. . Alocasia sp. samar looks like cycleoplata . .and Alocasia sanderiana is endemic in Zamboanga peninsula , Philippines . Take note... Alocasia sanderiana without nobilis... hehehe
Sean I think whether you knew his connection to the IAS or unknowingly asked him a good question, "Do you have a booth?" In which he didn't simply answer no but there are vendors here selling some of our plants or no we're too busy organizing and helping make IAS an enjoyable event for all. He gave you and viewers more "about us" information and their part in organizing IAS and shared great reason why they don't have a booth. Silver Krome Garden sometimes you need to re-introduce yourself again and again to people living in a different continent or younger generations. 🌴
3:28 She was the president. Her real name is Corazon Aquino with "corry" as her nickname. This plant was poached heavily during the pandemic. It's everywhere in where I live now😭
By the way corazon means ❤ heart. I been pronouncing Alocasia Zebrina similar to the name Sebrina (Sebreena) but he pronounce Zebrina (Zebr👁na, ZebrIna). It's my firat time hearing that pronunciation.
Love to see variety of Filipino Alocasias ❤ but Corazon Aquino is Not a the president’ s wife but she was herself our 11th and first Woman President of the Philippines. ❤
I absolutely love your content about the origin stories of tropical houseplants, especially anthurium!

Dude, how does it feel to be back in the U.S.?
Amazing and surreal! Many things felt familiar but some things feel strange and updated!
Do they have any Colocasias growing?

Gene editing is playing God. Gene edited a plant today, tomorrow a human. Once they start there will be no stopping
🐕Now that's what I call getting some side-eye🦮🤪.
