Coach Bo still haven't learned his lesson. He gets ejected for the 3rd time. Meanwhile, Coach Tab, even after getting the first Technical at Q2 he didn't retaliated against the refs and maintained his composure as the head coach. Ateneo is just too good right now. That 26 point deficit says alot.
EX HOE-L: I agree , coach Tab an excellent coach. No comparison to local coaches. I'm sure lots of Filipino coaches need to learn from him to become a better coach. He's got what it takes to be called COACH and ATENEO players so talented not the "hyped" few popularized by media... but "ALL OF THEM". 26 points says a lot.
Ateneo will be very difficult to beat because of their system and chemistry. UP with all it's talent is not gonna be enough to beat this kind of team .

This game was similar to a typical China vs Philippines or Korea vs Philippines game. Individual talent and skill of players of the Philippines (UP) are undeniable. BUT SYSTEM, DISCIPLINE AND COACHING of China and Korea (Ateneo) are unmatched.

Bad calls will always be there. It's just that Coach Tab was able to move on and made a new play after that first quarter. A classic example of a good system with no go to guy, just everybody stepping up and scoring.

Ref dati ng uaap yung coach ko ng basketball and sa ilang taon kong lumalaro never nya binlame ang ref kahit talo na kami or lamang or wrong calls or no calls kasi alam nya yung hirap ng isang ref. May ups and downs talaga di naman lahat ng ref perfect. Tsaka pinag aaralan naman ulit nila yon if may mali sila.

Ateneo is really a team to beat this season. They’re monsters in the court. Their players and the kind of game they’re showing is too much for UP to handle.

admu-they have a very balanced team with strength power and precision TAB BALDWIN really do a great job making all of his players to be functionable because he tries to develop the skills that they have and continuesly pound some new ones to add some more spices to the game.
I think UP should draw plays for Javi GDL, guy is their most talented offensive player.

This is why Tab Baldwin should be handling Gilas and not PBA coaches. Team chemistry, defense and execution beats good talent all the time.
You can't learn chemistry overnight. Kaya dapat may national team tayo. As in doon lang nakafocus if we want to improve hindi yung kukunin sa pba 2 months or 1 month before.
Ronnie Benedicto for me I think he should stay in college..
That way he will instill playing in the system and change the perspective of play in the Philippines for the young players..

Passion and "hungry sa panalo" are all ethemeral things, walang basis puro emotion lang. Me passion and Pinoy bakit wala bang passion ang ibang bansa? Ang difference lang me passion na sila me practice, system at coaching pa.
Puwede naman na hindi talaga mananalo ang Gilas pero kung maayos yung system at practice nila hindi din sila matatambakan ng 20-40 pts almost every game.

UP coachin staffs didnt prepare its team well to compete against the defending champion.
They didnt recruit or develop a big man to play along side Akhueti who i think is too short to go against the long Kuame.
UP has Prado but he's a liability in offense. A big waste is Will Gozum who spend most of the time in the bench.
They didnt have deadly shooters after the graduation of Desiderio.
They didnt notice that Rivero will only be effective with a run and gun offense that is initiated via a full court pressing defense.
Rivero isnt a consistent outside shooter and his penetrations are ineffective against a half court defense anchored by a big import challenging his shots.
Paras cant defend in the perimiter.
His drives towards the basket are off balanced.
Juan DGL, cant orchestrate UPs offense w/o a deadly outside shooter.
I rather have UST playin Ateneo in the finals.

The only way to expose the talent of Paras and Rivero is by transition.
Rivero was very effective while with DLSU bcoz of the chaotic pressing of Coach Ayo.
With UP, aside from Manzo and Tungcab, i see no other player suitable for a full court pressing defense.
They dont even have a shot blocker as Akhuetic is too short and heavy to be running up and down the court.
Sa basketball kailangan ng 5 players to play the game not just one, team chemistry and team work is really a must. I'm not saying that UP doesn't have team work but ADMU is superb.
They (ADMU) have also talent not just system.
Try nyo paglaruin yung mga walang alam sa basketball pero may magandang system, i think hindi pa din sila mananalo. So kudos to the whole team of ADMU!

Ever since Bo Perasol was with Powerade mahina talaga mag coach. Look at UST they are not as talented as UP but they almost defeated ateneo. because Ayo is way better than Perasol, and Ayo winning that championship with Letran was a proof.
And hate me if you want but these are facts pero masyadong papogi maglaro si Juan, Paras at Ricci. Simpleng pasa nalang kailangan no look pa, simpleng layup kailangan niyoyo pa bola. Puro highlights ang gusto, if they can just stick to basic basketball like Thirdy Ravena.
Still 26 points behind Ateneo’s best.

In fairness to Kobe, namamasa siya and creating for teammates. Hope he improves more. This game shows the difference of Pinoy brand of basketball (UP) against Euro style of play (Ateneo). Creating open opportunities to teammates and passing to the open shooter is the key. This system is what GILAS needs.
