I'm actually doing a baby blanket using the waffle stitch..although i had done 6 rows i took it out as i thought it didn't look right with a 5 mm hook so was going to start it with a 4mm tomorrow..but now i think I'm going to use this stitch..still using the 4mm..the baby is a boy so it'll be his first 'man blankie' 😆🇬🇧💖👍

Just a suggestion: If a man feels funny about having a blanket made for him, it can always be called a "Car Blanket" and stored in the boot or back seat etc, for those really long trips or on cold days for passengers and/or caravan'ing.

    You are absolutely adorable. 🥺
I’ve been looking for a pick me up project that doesn’t require much thinking to help cheer me up and allow me to escape for a bit. I’ve been crocheting for years now, but sometimes having a simpler pattern/project sometimes is just…lovely. Needed. And coincidentally, Ive recently purchased a few large skeins (on super sale!!) that would make a lovely “man blanket”. I started to make my fiancé a cardigan with them and even though it was my own pattern that I was just kind of swingin’, it still felt exhausting. Then I came across this and it made me so happy. It’s perfect. Thank you 🤍

Thank you so much, Mel. Yes I agree sometimes simple and easy is a must, something we don't have to think about too much and can just crochet. I did this in variegated very bright red heart stripes for my Neace and it came out fab

I love what you made here. I have been struggling trying to find a stitch that looked masculine yet visually interesting and not boring… It was proving difficult and trying to pick a colour and texture of yarn, I was waffling back-and-forth on what to select. I just watch this video and I love everything you did from the type of yarn to the stitch and the color. I’m going to make this for my newly discovered brother I found through an ancestral dna website. Thank you! This was a very well done video you are quite easy to follow

Most of my throws go to my husband. Even the really ugly ones. He loves them all. I’m just a beginner I’ve been at this for a year or so now. I’ve made all my kids and grand kids a throw. I’m starting over on my list. I’m trying to learn new stitches. I find this very relaxing but a bit frustrating too.

Hi, I'm making about a 12" sample of this stitch and love it. I showed it to my husband and he really likes it - which he usually thinks what I make looks like something my mom would have made :D. So I will be buying yarn (in the US) to make a "Man Blanket" for either our living room or our enclosed porch room. Thanks for creating and sharing this stitch.

    Miss Russell,
I was looking for a new/different stitch for some upcoming projects and saw your video.
My Grandmother was English (and my Grandfather was a Scotsman), and taught me to crochet.
She did this stitch often for lap blankets and scarves, as well as table runners and placemats.
It is a very versatile stitch and can be used with different weight yarn and different size hooks.
She called it the "front and back" stitch.
It is quick and easy and turns out very nicely.
Along with the choice of stitch, she said colour was equally important when crocheting for a man.
You explain the stitch very well.
Your choice of yarns is wonderful.
I look forward to watching your other videos.
    Thank you!

Hello again, Alison! I was thinking about the Post Stitches used in the Man Blanket, and realized, with a giggle, that if the Front & Back Post Stitches weren't staggered, the blanket would be crocheted ribbing!! Lol lol. It would be very pretty with its texture, but, boy would it be stretchy!! Lol lol
Thoroughly enjoying creating the Man Blanket! Will probably make a scarf for myself using the same stitch pattern!! Thanks again!! Have a great week!! 🤓😊

All day I have been searching the web for a pattern exactly like this for my roommates husband as a gift I wanted to make for him.We all share a house ,my SO,the two of them and the other brother who is a few years younger ..but we are all over 40ish and the they're all angels! But they both guys are affected with a hereditary syndrome that affects muscle/bone functions They eat well and have great positivity but they are SO VERY thin and some think they have anorexia but don't ..And the wife, little bitty Marie,is 79 pounds and also has her battle going with Osteoporosis which they truly amaze me with their upbeat attitudes! Long story short here..they have to keep the house like a steambath all day because they stay cold through no fault of their own .and it's Winter and NOT often above 65-70 in early Feb here in W.Tx..SOO thank you!!!! This will be a perfect gift and the stitch is perfect too!

Thank you so much for this tutorial, I am a visual learner and it helps so much to see this done in real life instead of just following instructions. I make blankets for a Christian ministry that sends blankets to terminally I'll patients. I am always looking for a pattern that will look good for a man, like you said they aren't really keen on fancy patterns. I'm from Bristol, VA and I love your accent! You're very easy to follow so I have subscribed in order to see more of what you have to I offer. God bless you in all you do, have a blessed day!😊💖

I just love your Scottish accent. You are definitely right about not having more “Man Blankets” patterns. I mean, everyone has at least one man in their lives that deserves a beautiful, or shall I say handsome, blanket. This blanket is very easy to do & I love the way it’s turning out for me. It’s for my son for a Christmas gift.

Clever stitch. I love the results. I think it’s a very good stitch for anything for a man or a boy with appropriate colors. Most of the stitches I’ve use have been too pretty for a man/boy project.

Amen to the man blanket! I'm making blankets for Christmas for my two adult sons and other than cabled, everything tends to be feminine. Thank you for posting this.

You could use your swatch as a pocket for a remote on the man blanket 🙂
This would make a toasty warm sweater....
