  • Narita Airport Guide and Haneda Airport Guide. The must-know tips before leaving Japan. These Japan travel hacks are things Japan tourists and travelers need to know before going back to their home country from either Narita Airport or Haneda Airport, based on my experience. We will discuss luggage delivery service to the airport, returning your IC card such as a suica refund or pasmo refund, where to get souvenirs in a pinch, what do do with all your foreign currency, how to spend your final day in Tokyo and most importantly where to eat at the airport. I hope this Japan travel guide helps in your travel in Tokyo and makes your departure from Narita and Haneda much easier.

I m in love with your " day in a life of ..." series, they are my favourite because it s unique, you find videos of japanease food , onsen ... everywhere, but in my opinion, there is no better way to really know the culture, than to experience it through the locals themselves, really good job with those videos. Thank you for doing your best you and your lovely wife ^^ , lots of love from me and my husband from Morocco^^

I'd rather grind it out in Japan than here in the US. But hey, I think we all get tired of what we have grown up with and become infatuated with what we perceive as a life we wish we could live somewhere else.

I also used that service for luggage delivery from hotel to hotel. I just want to say how convenient it is, specially when you start accumulating items you are bringing back. The hotel desk can help you fill out the form. If staying at hostels you can contact them ahead of time to arrange it.

I like to stay at the airport the night before leaving, so I check in to a capsule hotel, like the 9 Hours at Narita terminal 2.
Then I just walking around and I always end up at the observation deck with some snacks and couple of beers from the konbini, aah, perfect way to say good bye to Japan.
And no stress the next morning.

Oh man, I really want to visit Japan. My brother went there a year ago and when he told me about his trip I asked him to visit places that I want to go, like Kyoto (Temples, shrines, etc), Hiroshima (Museums, ground zero, etc), Osaka, the bar life in Tokyo and also, as a MUST, the Gundam Unicorn statue in Odaiba (Huge Gundam fan myself). I think he saw some of your videos and when I recently discovered your channel and shared it with him, he told me he did saw some of them, which helped him A LOT!!!
Thank you so much for your time creating this for us, for sharing your experiences, your knowledge and also the time and dedication you and Maiko take to do all this for us. A huge hug from El Salvador in Central America.. =D

spending the last day at an onsen after you check out is an amazing idea! i wish i had thought of that when i was there last year. we had a 9pm flight so we paid extra to checkout at 1pm plus more to store our bags while we went out for lunch and shopping. i had even considered paying an extra night but our apartment wasn't available. it prob wouldve been cheaper and more relaxing to go to an onsen

Just got back from Tokyo and found your videos really useful for planning that trip, thanks! I ate at that Tsukemen restaurant and loved it as well. In terms of luggage, I used Sagawa to store and ship luggage from Tokyo station to Narita since we wanted a lighter load when we went to Kyoto for a couple of days. Very easy service to use even with the language barrier.
Also note, most travelers from the USA fully expect the airport food and drinks to be marked up 2x to 3x above normal price. Not so in Narita! The 7-11 in the secure area had normal prices for everything, including the awesome egg sandwich!
Also note that there's a new Suica card called "Welcome Suica" which doesn't have the 500 yen deposit but you can't return it and it expires after ~28 days. They sell it at the airports so it can get confusing which Suica you end up getting. Just don't load too much money on it and at the end of the trip, buy a bunch of egg sandwiches at the airport 7-11 with the remaining balance!

Thanks for this information! My friends and I have heeded your suggestions in the past and have found them helpful when traveling in Japan. That Mobal SIM Card referral was clutch 👊🏽. smh I completely forgot to return my Suica card for a refund the last time 😅, so I will be saving this vid to refer back to it before my next visit.

Important note: depending on what region of Japan you purchase your IC card, you may not be able to return it in a different Region.

Thanks for all the info, love your videos! I just found all my leftover Japanese yen so I’m glad I didn’t get rid of it since I’m going for another Tokyo trip in less than a week. I’ll need it for those late night Shibuya Don Quijote runs 😂

Hi Pablo, been watching all your videos lately and thanks for the hard work. I have a question about luggage services. Is there a place I can drop my luggage for 5-6 hours before a late night flight in Tokyo?

    Aloha Paolo!
I discovered your channel earlier this year and have enjoyed your insights on Japan. The question I have is about the food. Do you eat all that great food in a single day of recording or do you record the episodes over a few days and space out your meals? Mahalo from Oahu Hawaii! Rick

Great Video Paolo! Very useful, as a former airline staff I really enjoyed it! Full of very convenient and helpful informations to travel the easy way. I loved the change machine, what a great idea. Every Big International airpirt should at least have a couple of them. It was a great idea to mention it in your video. Thank you also for thinking of your Vegan Friends, it is not very common yet to find vegan food in airports! Thank you for mentioning it. It is always a pleausre to watch your vidéos!

Hey Paolo, could you make a video for fun places to play Pokemon Go in Japan? I love your videos by the way. I'll be in Japan for the first time in November. I just recently turned thirty last month, I've been dreaming of making it to Japan for the past 25 years. I'm SO excited to be going to Japan! Your Japan videos took the nervousness and angst I had of traveling to Japan away completely, I thank you very much for that!!

    Hi Paolo,
thanks for your great and helpful videos. We will have a round trip through Japan. Can you give me a hint who can transport the luggage from hotel to hotel and what it costs?
And a second question I have. Can you give me some helpful hints to eat Fugo? Where are the best area in Japan to eat it or do you know some restaurants for it?
Thanks a lot and best regards from Germany!

I wish I could watch this video before we came back from Japan at last night. (Damn! This video came out yesterday!) We stayed there (Tokyo, Kyoto and Okinawa) for one month. Originally I’m from Japan but had been in nyc for 20yrs so I don’t know so much about Japan anymore! I watched all your videos (every Friday night in nyc) and of course we watched some episodes again before leaving US and while we were staying in Japan too! Thanks for all of your hard work :) We will keep watching! Keep up your wonderful job!
