It would be great if you can just take one raga for a video, explain everything about it (complete) and at the end you can play some of your own tunes (improvisation) in that raga, so that the learners can know the raga and how to use it as well. Thanks for the videos by the way. They are awesome.
the best video to learn a raga on a guitar,countless videos on the net,but nobody explained the simple point,playing the major scale doesnt make a raga,connecting those notes as you said!!!wonderful!!

Hi Shyam monk, I am a beginner in guitar and have followed you for a long time now. I am still learning. There are many guitar videos which teach a song or a chord progression but not the connections behind that. So, It is very refreshing and really valuable to listen to this video. I am practicing and hope to learn the connections soon. I Urge you to upload videos in this format rather than teaching a song. It will help many of us to understand the basics and move further. Thank you. - Prabhu Palanichamy
Thanks Prabhu for letting me know. Thanks for spending your time on my videos. Good that you wrote to me now, so that I know who is using it, who is on the other side of youtube! :) I will keep uploading videos. See if they are useful. You can write more to me also using the contact form at musicianself.com. Thanks
Sure Shyam... I will write to you in your website. It's just that all the videos are on TH-cam and when i comment it directly posts here.. Prabhu, of course if TH-cam is easier, just post it here. Probably i will setup a small Forum (FOR U & Me) at musicianself. that way the content, questions and answers can be at one place. but then, of course continue with your questions. about guitar type, practice etc, i will post a video. i am not an expert at those things. i just find a good low priced guitar and play it. probably you could find stuff on the internet, we could compile what is useful and keep as a file. Thanks :)

Simple songs which you know can keep you motivated + help you develop the skill to move your fingers, muscles to be able to match the sound of the song, the one we hear in our head matched to what we play. But while learning songs, understanding the underlying scales is important. Also scale is good to practice because it is something simple enough at the same time being a basic element of music, to practise fingering, up down strokes, moving between strings, keeping the notes sustaining and not cutting off, etc...
Thq u sir. Now i realise that shankarabaranam is not major scale. Even though the notes are same. The representation of notes are different. Sir i had a question.. is there any raga similar to minor scale notes? like same as major scale and shankarabaranam? Plz reply to me ☺

but we also have melodic (c,d,e,f,g#,a,b)

Of course, some shapes/pentatonics are repeated
They differ only by a set of sounds(melody remains the same*)
I just do not know what exactly I discovered and how to use creatively
my discovery :D
* for example (d,e,g,a,c) and (a,b,d,e,g) - same melody
