He is such a wonderful player. I still have cassette-tapes of him I found during a trip to India in the late 80's. I think he grew up in Auroville - What a charmed musical life!
Yes, he's from Auroville. Met him today and was lucky to listen to his mastery over this incredible instrument, which he crafted himself. What a genius! 💜
This hi-breed is definitely a complete instrument for expressing Raga with better playing comfort than any other conventional Hindustani instrument. Modified steel guitar has entered into mainstream hindustani classical arena long before and now this one is also destined for same.
What a wonderful amalgam of Indian music with your own creative genius. I should like to know more about your "geetaar" and your playing it so innovatively to spell any audience. Thank you.
Marvellous. A kind of short form Raga fusion style. Well done sir. Brought a big smile to my face. Oh, and what a fantastic creation this instrument is. Beautifully made too.
A great innovation, very good music and a great design! Good presentation. Thank you for the wonderful piece of music. I wish to buy this kind of guitar. How do I buy one Sir?
Beautiful music, playing and the instrument. Can anyone tell me? : Are all Raga guitars that expensive 6 or 7 thousand dollars? Are there guitars of this type available to buy at a much more budget price? I know one can experiment with a normal acoustic, doing some little cheap tricks to obtain a similar sound. The bottom line is- it will never be even close to one like this, even much cheaper model. Any comments welcome.
the guitar engineering looked impressive. the sound didn't feel quite like Indian Ragas. Something major felt missing. It just sounded like guitar. The drone sound and table was in the right direction.
I agree. No westerners have the ability to recreate the true essence of Indian sitar. Best not meddle with the original. Sounds silly.☝️🤪 He hasn’t a clue how beautiful the sitar is and how you use it! It’s all in the hand and touch not the other way round.
808 Music it's not a Sitar yeah. Sitars can't imitate guitars either. Playing classical music of Europe on sitar would sound ridiculous too, I agree. Compared to sitar, this is inferior for Indian music, it's like if you tried to play a lute piece written by Bach with a sitar.
Los 'ragas' son como una especie de 'Teoría musical' en la India, pero, con un planteamiento más 'abstracto'. Supongo que alguien que ha estudiado 'Ragas' podría aplicarlas a otros instrumentos 'solistas' a parte del Sitar.
As a guitarist with a growing interest in Indian music and different tuning temperaments, just wow, what a beautiful instrument, it also sounds divine, thank you.
Around 03:45 Nadaka says, "In South of India .. we don't care as much about the time of the day for particular modes." On the contrary, i have found Indian music schools of music to be extremely fastidious about the modes played at specific times of the day, and even include considerations for the seasons and occasions apart from time of day. Maybe i misunderstood Sri Nadaka ji's context, but what i heard him say here didn't sound right.
*_I believe the ancient Hindustanis/'Indians' somehow figured-out or intuited - or were 'taught'..... - the pristine vibration frequencies of the 'super-strings' from which our particular Universe is built ... what you are hearing here - is the mesmerizing symphonic harmonies of the most fundamental constituents of space-time...._*
Thn whts the use of creating an instrument which can be used live....if he wanted to loop tanpura thn there are samples already on internet...think abt it
Hi Mark. I'm pretty sure Nadaka has a website, maybe even a TH-cam channel. I doubt he'll see your question here. But maybe someone else here can answer.
Nice music, but imo there needs to be a better way to activate the drone/Jivari string. To move one side of the body to the other side like that breaks the flow of technique and perhaps the visual too.
This is the instrument I have been looking for for all of my life.
Did you get it
Why have u not created it yourself ?
Me too, Martin. I’ve been looking for a more electric variant, but this make so much more sense. The sound speaks to the soul, huh?
Ditto. I need to try and make one... Somehow
ME TOO
Wonderful instrument, magically played.
The whole video just flown by!
Amazing work!

Hi, Amazing instrument and playing. Incredible sound. I'm a Portlander and new follower original from Puerto Rico.🇵🇷
The ragam is called Revathi in south Indian classical music ... Very rejuvenating ragam .. like the sound of the guitar. Divine!!...
You can tell he spent so much time in India as he lost his accent 😂❤️
It sounds kinda German to me.
@@cowboytsundere3013 he has a little south indian accent.

deeply resonates me, fully

Jeet Ray I agree, he should use a slide or utilize bends because he is missing the meend sound that is so characteristic of Indian music

Not in south, the time of day isnot given any importance

Fantastic...love it!...ty
Fabulous fusion harmony
Thanks for this. Very Interesting
Very nice and relaxing
Very similar to John McLaughlin's Shakti-era acoustic guitar, most likely this guitar is based on it.
He stands nowhere in comparison to McLaughlin.
Well, he has been influenced in early days from John and has played with Shakti band and has even released studio albums with members of shakti band
simply amazing!!!!! mesmerized !!!
This is the best explanation
Hi, does anyone know how are the six strings of the guitar part (min. 2:38) tuned? Thanks!
Sounds like open tuning
want this so bad haha. its all i want in an instrument
Does anyone know who the luthier is that built this and if they are available for sale?
Likes a bit of Phrygian dominant. Sounds nice
Where can one inquire about this style build Veena guitar?
D sharp harmonic minor - raag Bhairav I think, unless I am mistaken- very nice
Alrukitaf no its not.....harmonic minor is raag kirvani
Alrukitaf theres a taste of Revathi
Rather a natural minor with 2nd note flattened . It's actually a mode in western terms .
@@anandutsav3329 i think is revathi sounds like aigiri nadini song soundings
great Invention.., It's Really Good...,

On a base scale of B, the notes would be B,C, D, E, F#, G,A,B. This is Bhairavi. All minor notes on a 7 note scale.
On c# scale
C#, d, f, f#, G#, A, c, C#'
Superb feel like keep listening.
Can someone please through a link to purchase it. Thanks
~cool...greetings from 2 musicians (sitar & tanpura) from germany........(maria&harald,the nectar of the night)...~

This is probably expensive af but where could someone buy this?
I don't think you can. He built it himself.
Omg this is so good😳
Why not loop the tanpura?...
Thn whts the use of creating an instrument which can be used live....if he wanted to loop tanpura thn there are samples already on internet...think abt it
Excellent 👍
divine music. I was lost
I want to meditate to shiva on this music loved the bhairavi rag.
Is it a secret as to the notes of the swara tuning?
Hi Mark. I'm pretty sure Nadaka has a website, maybe even a TH-cam channel. I doubt he'll see your question here. But maybe someone else here can answer.
No its not a secret, but there are different ways of tuning an instrument in Indian Classical music.
Wow! What an instrument! Where do I place my order?
ragamantra.com.
really good , this instrument is an evolution of the shakti guitar of the great john mc laughlin !
No its not .yu cant compare this very bsic attempt at mimicing indian classical with john mc or shakti thats ridiculous
Nice music, but imo there needs to be a better way to activate the drone/Jivari string. To move one side of the body to the other side like that breaks the flow of technique and perhaps the visual too.
Is this in standard tuning
Without the slides and the pulls, how can this be a Raga? Sounds more like western music, rather than Indian. But amazing guitar :)
how would you tune that :/
difficult....lol....but worth it....if you can....LOL!
Superb invention
What is the name of this instrument? Can I buy it online???
Amazon
Beautiful.
What is the name of this instrument????
Nice, but are you sure that "geet taara" is the etymology of "guitar"? Most etymologies point to the Greek "kithara."
it is actually bhagavat gitar
Sanskrit is anscestor of all languages including Greek. Perhaps not all African and Aboriginal languages but im not sure.
Gita = Song (like the Bhagavad Gita) Tar = Strings = Singing strings
His compositions are great
Wow that's great 👍👍👍👍 😃😃😃
That Guitar sitar -- is it produced commercially? and where can I buy it?
Please inquire at www.ragamantra.com
How much to purchase one?
i want one!
WHERE CAN I BUY THIS ?
great music....
Sir, I want to know that wich classic indian raga connected this composition? I feel so close near raga Beragi bhairav, is it true?
Yes I think it is bhairagi bhairav too
@@platimus7984at the start he told that he has tuned to raga Bhairavi. the compositiwonmust be raga Bhairavi only.
