    I been using taramps for about exactly 2 years now. To smart 3k, and now the smart bass 5k. And they're coming out with a smart 8k soon they told me. You can swap the fans out with higher quality ones. I've never had a taramps amp go into protect or anything even once. Budget kings for sure! I'm ready for a Korean 8k tho.

    If my memory serves me correctly they are rated at standard vehicle voltage too and handle up to 16 volts. More volts means more power. They are dyno rated for 14 volt systems which gives you the 12.8 rated volts. You supply 16 volt system and you'll get more than their basic rating. I've been looking into these for my spl set up. I stick with Korean quality for sq for my daily.

      The 8000 md do around 103 volts ac to your subs on 16 volts DC with a clean signal (they don't like more than 2 volt input signal from source) . if you run 14.4 its around 73 volts ac to subs. Cmax 5.5ah lithium cells are the way to go I think, they come in ford hybrid packs. I have been looking into this also. If you are going to run more than one of the 8k's it makes sense to build a nice pack, you can add a few diodes to the sense wire on your alternators to get it to charge at 16v. I know a guy who had 4x 8k's on 4x15 inch subs and he did 160+ on music with a 6th order blow through. He could demo all day with the cmax pack with a break now and then to let things cool down and recharge. The setup was nasty.

      check out the Orion HCCA 3000.1 DSPLX. That amp is rated at 3000 watts, it has triple 1 ought power inputs. They have 6 transformers in them. They sell for around $650.00-$700.00 it does 3200 watts at 2 ohms at 1 percent thd. 1 ohm they do 4825 watts at 1 percent thd, dynamic over 7600 watts. It does 13231 watts at .5 ohms dynamic on an amp dyno at 13.23 volts DC. I was going to buy one..... I ended up with a Harmony Audio HA A1500.1 for which does 3619 watts at .8 ohms dynamic and 4311 at .67 ohms dynamic at 14.51 volts, not bad for a 1500 watt amp. it cost me $250.00. I would go with those 2 or a taramps smart amp for a budget amp.

  • @RodofAllTrades

    Have you ever clamped your subs with a test tone to see what kind of power you are getting to your subs? You might be surprised. You may discover that you're getting less than you think. Box rise can suck sometimes. I found out for myself with my system. Also remember, you need power to make power. If your amp is doing 8,000 rms, when it hits that level, it will be or will try to draw AROUND 666 amperes of current at 14.4v supply, assuming 80% efficiency. Getting your subs clamped will give you an idea if you need a second 8K or not. In my setup, I had a JL Audio 13w7 with dual 1.5 ohm coils wired in series on a SounDigital 5k. I clamped my sub to see what my box rise was and it was right around 1.8 ohms. Add that to the 3 ohm load of the coils in series and I am at nearly 5 ohms. The 2 ohm version of my 5K is rated at 3,375 watts RMS at 4 ohms, so at 5 ohms, I estimated that my RMS power would be 25% less than 3,375 watts, which is 2,531 watts. I was WAY off! It only did 1,500 watts on a test tone. I ended up getting a Down 4 Sound JP23 v2 and rewired my coils in parallel to .75 ohms and WOW! My sub got woke TF UP! I clamped 1,954 watts. I was doing much more than that, but I easily reached the mechanical limits of my sub and had to turn the gain DOWN! My SounDigital 5k was occasionally clipping, due to the lack of headroom and now with the JP23, it no longer happens. My JP is rated almost double the RMS of my sub, yet my sub seems to be happiest at two-thirds the capability of the amp. If you're not getting enough power with the amp you have, you may even try doing a 12K instead of two 8k's. Just some things to think about! By the looks of your interior, I bet it is slappin' like crazy in there! Let me know if you have any questions! I don't claim to know it all, but I have been doing car audio as a hobby for 32 years.

    • @brentsounds
      @brentsounds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate this, you are very knowledgeable. I think I am gonna test my impedance and box rise with a meter soon, then go with what i need to on my amp. I’m gonna clamp them hopefully i’m at least getting 4-5k on em but ima gonna go that route as well as sound deadening

    • @brentsounds
      @brentsounds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I probably am off quite a bit on the RMS just never metered it, I think after I do that I’ll have a good look at what i’m working with. Go from there the me tweaking and measurements. I think my subs are playing but I think they definitely have way more potential in them. After doing some research i’m definitely probably only getting half proper because of that box rise fighting back at me. Love the way they sound best subs i’ve had so I’m gonna go out the way to get them playing to the max mechanically or pretty close like you were saying. I really appreciate this info for real!

    I've been using taramps amps for almost 5 years. Only lost 1 in that time. An older model md8k 1 ohm. It was my fault. Wasn't watching my voltage during a demo. Voltage got to low. I repaired it myself. 86 bucks in parts. These are not for average people though. You have to provide them the power they need. I just got a taramps offshoot brand. A marts 8k 1 ohm. Very similar to the older style taramps md 8k with no clip indicator. Instead a bass know. I'm going to hook it up this weekend and start testing. My photo is ol blue. It's was 14k rms. I'm rebuilding with zvx subs. Going to 36k on subs and 4800 on mids and highs

    You can never depend on what the true wattage is on any amplifier. Looking at the box, the unit or the book. No matter if it says RMS or peek.
    The law in car Audio is very lax.
    It's really a shame. The ONLY way to know for sure is with an amplifier dyno. Just like the horse power and torque in your car.
    Certain shops that specialize in racing modifications will have a dyno for your car. There's one channel on TH-cam that actually does real tests on this equipment. Wilson Laboratories Mr Big D. He tests every single amplifier on every post he puts on TH-cam that's what he does. Unless you want to purchase one that's the next best thing.

      i got sundown x 12s the vfx play great, may would want to do a 5k because box rise it probably only gonna let you amp play around 60 - 70% but a 5k would bring it perfect

      Never used the Bass series, for what I needed in my system I didn’t see any real differences that mattered to me. The price is a little different but it depends what you are looking for.

    I can’t take the noise. The fans the humming through the speakers that all taramps have. and yes, I’m getting loud. I don’t want it to sound like a tin box like those do.
