🚗 Time for something a bit different! With all of the emails I get about looking for a used Range Rover, I thought it would be helpful to some people to see what process I would go through when buying a used Range Rover. Keep in mind, if you have something you think people should check when looking for a used Range Rover online, let them know in the comments! The entire goal is to show people how to find a good model, so we're starting with the online search. By no means can you find everything in pictures and some text, so next week, we'll go over what to do once you get to the dealership. I'll link that here when it's up!
Fabulous presentation! I'm thinking that the 2009 facelift model with the newer interior and a 308hp diesel engine could be my ideal combination. In the UK you can get them for £14k.
Great Video- I love your channel. Just so you know I own a 12 Supercharged SC and my key fob had the same issue. It was hanging off on both sides about to fall off. I took it to a local RR dealer and they offered to rebuild the key fob for me which meant it wouldn't require reprogramming. They just replaced front and back plastic parts keeping the central steel colored parts with Range Rover written on it and it not only looks like a brand new key fob now it is also made with much stronger and less rubbery material so it feels like I won't have the same issue again. Total cost- $38.00 !! I was flawed- I never expected such a great job for so little cost. Its like I have a new key fob that is way better build quality than it ever was originally. I know this is a common issue with them so I feel I should just let people know that this is not a problem that people should just live with because they don't feel the expected cost is worth it. Maybe just share my experience at your local dealer and you will be very happy with the results.
Good video. Another thing I would consider is to put the vehicle into off road mode and look underneath for obvious signs of leaks or things that may be broken and also check for generic replacement parts, those parts do not last long on these cars. Also instead of using the car fax for service information, I use it to identify who provided the service and contact them to ask what they actually did to the car. After being satisfied with all that information, then I will consider a pre purchase inspection. My approach is a little bit different because I service my own vehicle due to living in a rural/ distant environment.
You cant always go by service history, mine has never been to maintenance since I have owned it. But I do regular brake checks, oil change and lube. Plus just observing the vehical. Also alot of times the guy they have changing the oil they don't trust to work on them yet. If you dont have deep pockets you can still own a LR/RR you just have to keep up on maintenance yourself👍
Good video. I have owned a 2006 HSE Lux since early 2007 and it has ~160k. From my experience, Mcpherson struts are good for about 80k before replacement. $1,495 each at dealer, but find a good indy (usually they have someone who previously worked at the local dealer and wanted a better situation). Mcpherson makes a replacement for `$500 that rides perfectly. The back-up cameras are also a weakness, be sure to check before purchase. My preference is the 2006 and newer with the 4.4 Jaguar engine rather than previous BMW. The weatherstrip deterioration comment you made is spot on and have never seen one without it.
I'm the same with preference on model years. I think the Jaguar engine from 06 to 09 was a solid one as well as giving it time to sort out some of the electrical malfunctions. Although, I say "some" loosely. 😂
I just bought a 2009 range rover hse that was previously owned by CC Sabathia he kept it emaculate rides amazing so far just hope it holds up great video
I also like the landrover freelancer 2 less bigger jobs too worry about more sensible mpg still sit up high and has good off road ability if needed haha
I'm new to looking to buying a range rover sport supercharged. Idk much about them . People say like the lr3 or 4 and now idea what that means haha. I'm gonna probably buy a 14 range rover sport supercharged soon and wondered how reliable are they. I've had my Volvo s60 for 8years and so reliable. So nervous to buy new lol. Thanks and have a great day
Interesting. Been tempted to get one here in the UK, but looking at the entry level cars, just because they are so cheap and for the ownership experience. Would be great to see your experience of buying and owning a $5K L322.
I think it would be an interesting experience to see the difference in the two. I think an early generation one would be similar enough but also a completely different experience. I’ll probably get one around spring or early summer, so time shall tell what happens with it. 😂
Hey are you from Illinois? I was looking for my first rover like a 09 or 08 but I'm always thinking on the maintenance $$ dont know if I should stay with my 09 mdx ps which is better bmw x5 or range rover years 2008-2014

P38 or a D3/D4!!!
No BMW engines!!!!
I thought the BMW M57 engine was a good engine?
Why is that?
If you come up to Tinley Park let me know!!
Absolutely! I'd love to! I'll let you know if I'm ever up that way!
Can't wait for the new car :)
Pro tip: Look up a map of the 50 states by road salt usage. Don't buy from New England, Illinois, Wisconsin etc!
Go for a LR4
Get a lr3
Why another range rover for the channel, just curious?
These cars will bankrupt you. 5-7k for a timing chain??? Absolute joke. Terrible reliability, rust even these days, no economy, massive waste of time.
Had one 10 years. Still going strong. Going to buy another very soon
Have you ever owned one
