Would love to hear about contracts and how they are structured to keep everyone on the ball collectively.
That might not be a bad idea for an episode. There are things in the contract in regards to timeline however a lot of it has to do with the art project manager (
In this case myself ) keeping everyone on track.
Thank you so much! I've been trying to start an online slice of life comic strip for the longest time but unfortunately, I'm not gifted in sequential art. I'll definitely take a look at this Facebook group 😁
Thanks. There’s a lot of artists there doing a lot of different styles. I’m sure there ‘s someone perfect for your slice of life story.
This is helpful. Sometimes you have so many ideas, it's easier to have the other artist do the grunt work. If I had the money, that is what I would do. I would write and do character designs and then let someone else take it from there. I am an artist, and I am always looking for ways to make money with my skills.
Yeah, I’m definitely starting to change my mind about wanting to do everything by myself.
I just got my first comic book done on Fiverr! Paid the artist 120 a page- I'm on cloud 9!
Sounds like you had a good experience. I'm a little iffy about using Fiverr, But it sounds like it worked out for you.
Where can I see the work?
Thanks for the information. I tried to write a novel recently, but something didn’t feel right about it like it was missing something. I feel like my story would benefit from having stylish visuals as it would enhance the story and the world.
I’m great at coming up with ideas and stuff
That's a great skill to have!
I remember how a sci fi film maker wanted story boards.
I also have an idea of comic manga . What can I do have
Very informative, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!!!
You're welcome! I hope it helps!
I also have an idea comic Manga what a what can I do someone has listen to my story
Great video!
Thanks!
I’m looking for an artist right now, I have enough skill to create concept for the characters and certain aspects of the world but not enough skill to do an entire comic on my own. I could probably do the inking/coloring though. I’d probably want 2 artists.
I’ve found very good artist on the connecting comic writes and artist Facebook group. Assuming you have a budget to pay them.
One of the disappointing things about the comic industry is the notable transformation moving away from collaborative partnerships to more conventional employment relationships. This shift introduces a financial hurdle, as both writers and illustrators need to balance creative aspirations with economic realities. Unfortunately, this change has led to a significant decrease in true artistic collaboration, where the joint effort of storytelling and visual artistry creates something unique and valuable. The misconception that writers seek 'free' work overlooks the mutual investment and shared vision inherent in genuine collaboration. What's lost in this transactional approach is the potential for a single, focused project to elevate both writer and illustrator, providing recognition and artistic fulfillment. However, the prevailing industry trend favors short-term contracts, often missing the opportunity for deeper, more meaningful artistic endeavors.
I appreciate your take on the comic industry and as a whole I tend to agree with you in most regards. While I don't do a lot of collaborations and tend to write and draw my own work. I think is awesome when both a writer and artist believe enough in a project to make it a true collaboration, however as far as a mutual investment I'm not sure if the division of labor between writer and artist is 50/50. I know I could write multiple issues of 4 or 5 titles in the time it takes me to draw one. Just something to consider.
Hey Scott is TH-cam a good source to find artists and writers because I am solo comic book artist looking for a team
currently I am just taking your advice from your pitch bible video and just talking about concept but as a pro should I revealed more about the mythic universe I'm creating?
It depends on how much of your universe you are talking about revealing. If your trying to enroll others in your project I would keep it brief. If they are interested then you can reveal more.
@@ScottSerkland Thank you for the advice
I was wondering what Dane Cook had been up to.
I’ve had people say Jon Favreau and Mark Ruffalo but Dane Cook is a first.
Future Scott Cinematic Universe??
Maybe, I’ve always thought of my ideas as stand alone though.
I do have ideas I don't know how to draw a comic
I have a series on my channel called making comics 101. It’s a good place to start if your interested in making comics.
Building a team, like the idea. But think you don't have enough time for all your ideas, wellll, DeepMind's AI "Alphafold" broke the protein structure riddle last summer. That means a gigantic advancement in medicine is taking place right now and those same AI are looking to do the same with DNA. So far the advance treatments, (done on mice), can reverse cellular ageing, (not reduce but reverse), by 40 years. And there is every reason to believe that these treatments can be done at lest twice to over a hundred times. The reality is if you can live for the next 5 years, you can live for a thousand years. You no longer have an inherent expiration date. That's a long time to get your ideas out there.😎
Wow! That’s very cool and even a little scary. For all the problems it solves it probably raises five new ones. Unfortunately if that were to happen. It will probably only be available to the super wealthy. Most artist I know don’t fall into that category.
Listen to my story
Hi are you looking for an artist???
