Just be careful with the transmission, ivt or cvt ,same thing, are not very reliable. But if you're just planning to have this vehicle for less than 10 years and you don't drive aggressively, go ahead and buy it.
I got mine, neptune blue 2021 and I love it. My driveway is really hilly and gravel and slippery and a mile long. Everyday to work my fusion would slip out on the hill going out or on the hill coming back from loose gravel or scrape. Now with my seltos no problem at all, its so smooth. No problems so far!
it looks like the xc40 which , until I stumbled onto this car , was the only SUV I thought looked anywhere near decent.. aside from the mercedes glk which just isn't practical and also discontinued.
My husband and I just bought a Seltos S AWD (starbright yellow with a black top). We love it. It drives great. It feels so solid and smooth. We both love the looks and that it’s roomy. Great for adults in the rear seat. Happy with the long warranty.
My wife bought a 2021 Seltos EX the custom pearl white color with a sunroof 2 months ago and she loves it. It does not have turbo but still a peppy little SUV and it handles great. I'd say it's "zippy". It seems like its a solid well made vehicle for the price and does have some nice features. Overall we are very happy with it so far.
You kept your promise when you made that first review in Texas of the 2021 Kia Seltos, you have followed up on all of them them. I bought mine about a month ago (Kia Seltos SX AWD 1.6L 4cyl Turbo. Steel Gray) and you have been right on,you have been honest and really helped me in making the right choice for myself. I have always been a Jeep owner and will miss the Jeep family. I started out to get a Jeep Compass Limited for my retirement vehicle (since I don't go off-roading anymore). For what I payed for my new 2021 Kia sx turbo, I got (so so much) more than expected in value for the cost, I think I saved about six or seven thousand dollars from the Jeep Compass Limited and when I get in it I am thinking to my self it is something that I really love and did not just have to settle for, the torque and Power 0 to 60 around that 7 sec mark, the 60 to 0 braking, the tech, attention to detail, fit and finish, the ride and how it handles, fuel mileage, you were so helpful. Hi Ray.. I was looking into a Jeep Compass Limited edition two tone with panoramic sunroof online.. I like the look of the outside, but have never driven a Jeep.. I am looking for reliability and style, so may I ask if you think Kia is mechanically superior to Jeep products or at least the Compass model I'm interested in. And does Kia have a better warranty than Jeep?
@@christinewhite2414 Hi Christine, the Kia has a 10 year 100k mile power train warranty (engine, transmission, drive train) and a 5 year 60k mile basic (everything else that isn’t wearable). Jeep has a 5year 60k mile powertrain and 3 year 36k mile basic. So Kia has a MUCH better warranty. As for reliability Kia has been pretty good lately and Jeep has been going down for years. IF you are looking to lease drive both the Kia and Jeep and see what you like more and just go with whichever you like because reliability on a lease isn’t that important most cars don’t have issues until 4+ years.

Hi Joe. Your videos have a special meaning to me. Not only because of the detail of the vehicles you test drive and the valuable information you offer but because of something else. You see, I used to live in Clearwater, Nursery Rd and 19 and then Dunedin off of what was then county road 70 back in the '70's and being that I was in the glass business when Countryside Estates was being built I installed plenty of windows, mirrors, shower enclosures, etc. So much has changed over the decades that I hardly recognised the area until I saw 19 North and the bridge going over rt 60 which was being built back in '74. Came across this vehicle last week when shopping for a Sportage. Really stood out, started comparing and researching and while I am driving the SX Turbo Seltos tomorrow as well as ESX Sportage (about the same cost for me in Canada) I am really edging towards the Seltos. I did drive the EX Premium today and was really impressed but do want to try the Turbo with the extra power. I appreciate your candidness on reviews of both cars (and the Ford Escape which is now a non starter for me). I have a feeling I will be coming back with the Neptune Blue Seltos SX Turbo (They have the sunroofs here on that model as well as the HUD as standard) but not 2 tone sadly.

I went yesterday for a test drive and omg yeah loved it so much , the sound that it makes on the highway is fine with me idc ! Loved it and I want it in that color too.
Putting one’s arm on top of the door panel used to be a thing in the past, but last 2 decades, not much. Most times we have the widows rolled up, plus modern cars have high sills for safety. so why would you drive with your arms on top of the door panel?

Bought my Dark Ocean Blue SX 2 days ago and I absolutely LOVE it! I do wish it had some of the nicer features the Canadian version has (ventilated seats, rear heated seats, heated steering wheel, HUD, etc.), but it’s light years ahead of the old Dodge Caliber I was driving 😂 Your review was super helpful for me in my buying process, so thank you!!
A thing to note is that the turbo lag is nearly non-existent. The delay when getting on throttle from a dead stop is the transmission refusing to fry the clutch to satisfy your lead foot; peak torque comes in at around 1500RPM. Great overall review though, having purchased it myself, two things I can say have been a thorn in my side is the very active Lane Keep and I have gotten some glare off of the gloss black on the steering wheel itself.
I really loved this vehicle. Great review!! I prefer a lighter interior though, need to see if it comes in other colors vs just black. I like to have some contrast inside.
This is exactly the car I’ve been waiting for. I like the Kona, but it’s slightly too small and narrow for my liking. I also like the Subaru Crosstrek, but there’s nothing really unique about it. I love the look of the Kia Soul, but it’s not AWD. The Kia Seltos kind of combines elements from all three of those vehicles and is therefore absolutely perfect for me 😍
Great review Joe! I don't know why HMG always decontents cars for the US market. Even in Canada, the top model of this comes with ventilated seats, heated wheel and a HUD. This is a great little baby ute!
The US version is stunted big time in terms of options and features. Will list out what’s missing compared to Canadian and Asian market versions. 1. Cooled and Ventilated seats for the driver and passenger. 2. Heated rear passengers seats 3. Head up display 4. Parking proximity sensors front and rear 5. Electric tail gate open and close 6. Flat bottom steering in top end versions. Kia simply chose to ignore US customers. Surprised Raiti did not call these out!

Joe: Great review, as usual -- thanks! Some folks testing this transmission complain about abrupt gear changes in heavy, stop-and-go traffic. They also note that inching forward slowly under such conditions is also not advisable, as the transmission jerks and complains. Did you experience any of that?
Lavapop I would test drive both versions of the transmissions. It’s just that DCT transmissions do mimic a manual transmission from what I’ve heard. Don’t know if you saw the TFL comparison of a Kia Seltos versus a CX 30 taken offriad. And the DCT transmission overheated. Doesn’t look like it’s made for offloading at all. But that may be just fine for a regular on road every day use
Literally and figuratively. Some models are having engine fire problems but the cars that don't catch on fire seem to be quality, reliable and a fantastic value.

Just bought the SX T-GDI pearl white with the sunroof option thanks to videos like yours. Of course I drove most AWD SUV under 40k before I picked the Seltos.
I just bought one for my wife. I was a complete Chevy guy until I drove a Kia hamster car. Got home and traded my Tahoe for a sore to and have purchased 9 kias including your wife’s new seltos. I had an issue with my 2013 Kia Optima hybrid. I had an issue with the electrical system at around 78000 miles. Car was towed to my Kia dealer and they fixed it on warranty “ a little over $4000 to fix it. It was handled through the warranty “. The other issue happened when my daughter was driving it. The engine had a small fire that shut the engine off, and she hit a stopped car in the rear because she couldn’t stop. Turns out there was a recall on our engine and Kia is replacing the engine engine right now for me. This happened with a 115,000 miles. Once the imagine is in I plane to getting front end fixed. This is going to be a great first car for my younger daughter. I know we are talking about the seltos. So I wanted to give you a little background about my experience with Kias and I know our new Seltos will continue my family’s love for there cars. We got our cars from the Kia of West Chester located in PA.
@@TheQueensWish due to the pandemic I haven't taken any longer trips so can't speak to the long ride comfort of the seats. I am 9 months into ownership and just barely passed 6K miles. Hoping to visit farther away family this summer, but so far all of my driving as been local.
We just leased a Seltos and can bring up a full size digital speedometer on the center gauge . It is the S trim. I got it for my wife and now I want one. SX of course.
This car is probably one of my favorites to drive. My other favorite is a 2015 Subaru Outback (the car I drove in high school) and the Kia Seltos is the first car to really make me feel the same level of comfort I have in the Outback.
I like where Kia is going with their SUV'S for sure. Can't wait to see the new Sorento. That's the size of vehicle I need for work and it looks similar from the outside, but bigger of course. I think it will have a 2.5 L turbo with decent power.
I drove one a few days ago. Loved it. One minor problem. THE RIDE SUCKS! If you don’t mind feeling every tiny bump in the road. If you don’t mind having to scream at each other while on the freeway. Then this is your car. I drove just about everything in the category and ended up buying a Mazda CX-5 for just a tiny bit more money. The engine on the Seltos was outstanding
My daughter has a 2021 Seltos SX Turbo. The Canadian version has a HUD (heads up display) that sinks into the dash. Heated front and rear seats and front cooled seats. The 7 inch center cluster has several more options to set up the display including large speedometer numbers. Also it has body colored roof not 2 tone colors.
Just picked my Seltos SX turbo up. So far loving it. Mine has a sunroof and heads up display. I traded my 2015 Soul which I loved. Disappointed there is no place for my sunglasses and the mirrors are not electric. I liked my mirrors. Other than those 2 things I am still having to learn about all the gadgets in the SX Turbo series. Thumbs up on your videos. Thanks from Canada. 🇨🇦
I'm loving the Seltos,I'm thinking of getting the Ex Premium. I'm worried about maintenance though as I've heard horrible things about Kia. I guess you've never had issues with your Soul? Would love the SX,but worried about the Turbo engine,that will cost a fortune to fix in a few years...🤷♀️
David S except in reliability. I used to have a 2014 Impreza Sport Premium and the transmission had to be replaced twice at 90k miles. Traded it in on a brand new Golf GTI. Don’t trust what everybody says about Subaru reliability because in my case it wasn’t very good.
@@DS..69 I looked into it being a lemon but it didn’t have a single problem up until the CVT replacement at 90k miles. Than about 3 months after that, the CVT died again, requiring another replacement transmission. The only problem with the car was the transmission, other than that it was great. I read many forums of people that experienced premature CVT failure, but I’ve also heard of many Subaru owners who have had zero problems with their cars. I was never very hard on the car so I guess the CVT was just faulty.

Just bought the base model with all-wheel drive and I'm getting close to 30 MPG The car feels fantastic and for only $23,000 I could not complain. Just don't take the thing off-roading. Maybe some light trails yes but don't expect it to be a capable off-road machine. To my surprise my little base model seltos came with puddle lights which I was pleasantly surprised. Anyways for the price I would definitely recommend checking this car out if you need a small little SUV type vehicle with all-wheel drive.
Great review again. I was a little disappointed: since you're living with it, I expected to see what it looks like night-driving, a little horn, what was the claim mileage vs the real-world mileage, and real-world storage capability. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it_ duh, It's a Seltos!

David Duarte that transmission comes on the non turbo models. The SX trim comes with the DCT. I haven’t had any issues with this.

Really stood out, started comparing and researching and while I am driving the SX Turbo Seltos tomorrow as well as ESX Sportage (about the same cost for me in Canada) I am really edging towards the Seltos. I did drive the EX Premium today and was really impressed but do want to try the Turbo with the extra power. I appreciate your candidness on reviews of both cars (and the Ford Escape which is now a non starter for me). I have a feeling I will be coming back with the Neptune Blue Seltos SX Turbo (They have the sunroofs here on that model as well as the HUD as standard) but not 2 tone sadly.
I posted on your Kona review. I’m narrowed down to these 2 in 2021 when our current lease is up. I think the Seltos is the winner for us. Thanks for what you do. I love the fact that your reviews can save tons of time test driving all the vehicles is a catagory. Awesome. Thank you

X X I did not drive the other engines but compared to my last vehicle, 2012 Outlander, this car has way more get up and go. Lots of great features for the price tag of the car.

@@Zay13378 kia has an uvo app where you can remote lock/unlock, remote start, check tire pressure, schedule maintenance etc.
I went yesterday for a test drive and omg yeah loved it so much , the sound that it makes on the highway is fine with me idc ! Loved it and I want it in that color too.

Putting one’s arm on top of the door panel used to be a thing in the past, but last 2 decades, not much. Most times we have the widows rolled up, plus modern cars have high sills for safety. so why would you drive with your arms on top of the door panel?

Bought my Dark Ocean Blue SX 2 days ago and I absolutely LOVE it! I do wish it had some of the nicer features the Canadian version has (ventilated seats, rear heated seats, heated steering wheel, HUD, etc.), but it’s light years ahead of the old Dodge Caliber I was driving 😂

A thing to note is that the turbo lag is nearly non-existent. The delay when getting on throttle from a dead stop is the transmission refusing to fry the clutch to satisfy your lead foot; peak torque comes in at around 1500RPM.
Great overall review though, having purchased it myself, two things I can say have been a thorn in my side is the very active Lane Keep and I have gotten some glare off of the gloss black on the steering wheel itself.
I really loved this vehicle. Great review!! I prefer a lighter interior though, need to see if it comes in other colors vs just black. I like to have some contrast inside.

This is exactly the car I’ve been waiting for. I like the Kona, but it’s slightly too small and narrow for my liking. I also like the Subaru Crosstrek, but there’s nothing really unique about it. I love the look of the Kia Soul, but it’s not AWD. The Kia Seltos kind of combines elements from all three of those vehicles and is therefore absolutely perfect for me 😍
I really like this little Seltos Gem! It's a value SUV for drivers looking for a lot of fun for not a lot of money.
I'm from the UK and I live the way he compares the storage with candy bars.
Great review Joe! I don't know why HMG always decontents cars for the US market. Even in Canada, the top model of this comes with ventilated seats, heated wheel and a HUD. This is a great little baby ute!

The US version is stunted big time in terms of options and features. Will list out what’s missing compared to Canadian and Asian market versions.
1. Cooled and Ventilated seats for the driver and passenger.
2. Heated rear passengers seats
3. Head up display
4. Parking proximity sensors front and rear
5. Electric tail gate open and close
6. Flat bottom steering in top end versions.
Kia simply chose to ignore US customers.

They do come with a heads up display at least in canada we just bought this model it has the heads up display and heated steering wheel

Joe: Great review, as usual -- thanks! Some folks testing this transmission complain about abrupt gear changes in heavy, stop-and-go traffic. They also note that inching forward slowly under such conditions is also not advisable, as the transmission jerks and complains. Did you experience any of that?

Lavapop I would test drive both versions of the transmissions. It’s just that DCT transmissions do mimic a manual transmission from what I’ve heard. Don’t know if you saw the TFL comparison of a Kia Seltos versus a CX 30 taken offriad. And the DCT transmission overheated. Doesn’t look like it’s made for offloading at all. But that may be just fine for a regular on road every day use
Was all set to buy the Kio Sportage until I walked in and saw a Seltos on the showroom floor. Sat in it and I was hooked. Got a white SX w/ sunroof !
PS... The middle Twinkie Storage compartment is a Big Plus !

Exactly. All auto companies make their mistakes especially with how complex modern cars are. If you look past the fires, Kia's are fantastic cars. Just under Toyota and Honda IMO.
Just bought the SX T-GDI pearl white with the sunroof option thanks to videos like yours. Of course I drove most AWD SUV under 40k before I picked the Seltos.

I just bought one for my wife. I was a complete Chevy guy until I drove a Kia hamster car. Got home and traded my Tahoe for a sore to and have purchased 9 kias including your wife’s new seltos. I had an issue with my 2013 Kia Optima hybrid. I had an issue with the electrical system at around 78000 miles. Car was towed to my Kia dealer and they fixed it on warranty “ a little over $4000 to fix it. It was handled through the warranty “. The other issue happened when my daughter was driving it. The engine had a small fire that shut the engine off, and she hit a stopped car in the rear because she couldn’t stop. Turns out there was a recall on our engine and Kia is replacing the engine engine right now for me. This happened with a 115,000 miles. Once the imagine is in I plane to getting front end fixed. This is going to be a great first car for my younger daughter. I know we are talking about the seltos. So I wanted to give you a little background about my experience with Kias and I know our new Seltos will continue my family’s love for there cars. We got our cars from the Kia of West Chester located in PA.

@@TheQueensWish due to the pandemic I haven't taken any longer trips so can't speak to the long ride comfort of the seats. I am 9 months into ownership and just barely passed 6K miles. Hoping to visit farther away family this summer, but so far all of my driving as been local.

I'm leaning towards Kia because of the infotainment system TBH and how good it looks. I really don't like the front of the Mazda and how long it is.
We just leased a Seltos and can bring up a full size digital speedometer on the center gauge . It is the S trim. I got it for my wife and now I want one. SX of course.

This car is probably one of my favorites to drive. My other favorite is a 2015 Subaru Outback (the car I drove in high school) and the Kia Seltos is the first car to really make me feel the same level of comfort I have in the Outback.
I like where Kia is going with their SUV'S for sure. Can't wait to see the new Sorento. That's the size of vehicle I need for work and it looks similar from the outside, but bigger of course. I think it will have a 2.5 L turbo with decent power.

I drove one a few days ago. Loved it. One minor problem. THE RIDE SUCKS! If you don’t mind feeling every tiny bump in the road. If you don’t mind having to scream at each other while on the freeway. Then this is your car. I drove just about everything in the category and ended up buying a Mazda CX-5 for just a tiny bit more money. The engine on the Seltos was outstanding

My daughter has a 2021 Seltos SX Turbo. The Canadian version has a HUD (heads up display) that sinks into the dash. Heated front and rear seats and front cooled seats. The 7 inch center cluster has several more options to set up the display including large speedometer numbers. Also it has body colored roof not 2 tone colors.
I love this and the Telluride. I think Kia is killing it these days. I would choose this over I think maybe everything but the Crosstrek.

Just picked my Seltos SX turbo up. So far loving it. Mine has a sunroof and heads up display. I traded my 2015 Soul which I loved. Disappointed there is no place for my sunglasses and the mirrors are not electric. I liked my mirrors. Other than those 2 things I am still having to learn about all the gadgets in the SX Turbo series. Thumbs up on your videos. Thanks from Canada. 🇨🇦

David S except in reliability. I used to have a 2014 Impreza Sport Premium and the transmission had to be replaced twice at 90k miles. Traded it in on a brand new Golf GTI. Don’t trust what everybody says about Subaru reliability because in my case it wasn’t very good.

@@DS..69 I looked into it being a lemon but it didn’t have a single problem up until the CVT replacement at 90k miles. Than about 3 months after that, the CVT died again, requiring another replacement transmission. The only problem with the car was the transmission, other than that it was great. I read many forums of people that experienced premature CVT failure, but I’ve also heard of many Subaru owners who have had zero problems with their cars. I was never very hard on the car so I guess the CVT was just faulty.
I’ve seen a few around here. There’s a light that runs right under the lip of the grill towards the middle. It’s quite unique
loving that color.

Just bought the base model with all-wheel drive and I'm getting close to 30 MPG The car feels fantastic and for only $23,000 I could not complain. Just don't take the thing off-roading. Maybe some light trails yes but don't expect it to be a capable off-road machine. To my surprise my little base model seltos came with puddle lights which I was pleasantly surprised. Anyways for the price I would definitely recommend checking this car out if you need a small little SUV type vehicle with all-wheel drive.

Great review again. I was a little disappointed: since you're living with it, I expected to see what it looks like night-driving, a little horn, what was the claim mileage vs the real-world mileage, and real-world storage capability. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it_ duh, It's a Seltos!
