Right on. That's why I put up this clip. I would have had to scramble onto a longer route if I went next week because I had no idea until I saw the signs this week. You will probably just have to go around east and come back in at Bridgeport. It will add to your drive time but your trip can go on. Hope you have a great time.
Right on. I had no idea. I'll just wait now rather than tack on the extra drive time to go around it. Glad I went this week and saw those signs. I usually only check road conditions online once Winter weather sets in.
I had no idea. I'm going to wait to go south until this is over. Instead of adding an hour of driving to go somewhere that would normally take 4 hours to get to, I'll just drive somewhere that takes 5 hours to get to instead.
Caltrans - District 9 (Bishop) will always post any scheduled road work or road conditions on their website, Facebook, etc. Would be wise to check here when traversing US 395.
Typically, I check Caltrans online for Winter driving conditions. The 395 isn't completely shut down that often. The avalanche at Lee Vining a couple years back was another story entirely.
As far as I can tell, 108 will still be accessible coming from the north on 395 during this time. Is this correct? I’m trying to get out towards Leavitt meadows in a couple weeks coming from the north
I believe that is correct. I might be able to confirm that if I head that way Tuesday when I head out for my usual 48 hour content creation window for the week. Tune in when I get back Thursday but I think you are right.
It’s safe for everyone to assume the closure might run longer. We’re talking about CalTrans here. They’re the antithesis of efficiency. Hope it’s not the case this time. 🤞
Caltrans website has detour established, lots of specific information. And detailed map. Bridgeport will be busy! Topaz, Walker, and Colville open. Stock up and fuel up before heading into Nevada detour. 24/7 construction so be mindful of construction crews and equipment. Bay area to south eastern Sierra, 120 Tioga Pass through Yosemite! Make Yosemite entry before 5am to miss the crowd. Mind the speed limits!!! Have excellent driving lights because the wildlife is very active at night and dawn. We don't need more dead bears!
Right on. I'm going to avoid it until it's over. I've been working on a 48 hour content creation window, including drive time, so I'm not looking to add any more travel time. I got stuff I can do close to home and to the North and West. Once it opens it will be nice and cool in the Eastern Sierra and I'm looking forward to that.
Thanks Amani, here's an alternate route. Reno Nevada Get on I-80 E 2 min (0.6 mi) Follow I-80 E to NV-439/USA Pkwy. Take exit 32 from I-80 E 17 min (19.1 mi) Follow NV-439/USA Pkwy to California Emigrant Trail in Silver Springs 22 min (19.0 mi) Follow US-95 ALT S and US-95 S to NV-360 S in Mineral County 2 hr 7 min (131 mi) Turn right onto NV-360 S (signs for Nevada 360 S) 23 min (23.2 mi) Follow US-6 W to N Main St in Bishop 55 min (53.3 mi) Bishop California 93514
Thanks for the info. I am going up there Sep 11 to Sep 15
Right on. The Fall colors should be starting to pop in the Eastern Sierra around then.
Thanks for the update!
I figured not everyone would know. I sure didn't until I saw the sign.
Thank you. I have reservations at Lundy on September 15. Will have to try to figure out an alternative way to get there.

Appreciate the heads-up here. Thanks!
Right on. Something easier to get around when you know it's there. As for myself, I had no idea until I saw that sign earlier this week!
Love the fishing reports.
Love the traffic reports.
Ty ✌️

You saved me from some heartache! Thanks dude!
I had no idea either! I was going to Bishop Tuesday and I'm not looking to drive the long way around and come out at Bridgeport. Drive is long enough!
Thanks for the info🎣👊👍

At 108. Going from Topaz to Bridgeport is almost a shortcut via Wellington.
Right on.

You have a really good point there! Until you brought me back down to earth I was treating the sign as though it was an iron clad schedule!
Just take the Bypass through Nevada, brings you into the east side of Bridgeport... Easy peasy !!!!
Right on.
there for a wildlife under crossing FYI
Right on. That's what I'm gathering from the comments.

I thought I read it's for a animal crossing 🤔

lets go fishing at tahoe :D
With the road closure I will probably end up there this month. Next week, I'm hitting the road and heading 5 hours out.
