I recently looked around which concertgrands exist on the market and i found, the mentioned Steinway, Bechstein 8, Förster and Blüthner a real "skycraper" upright with anout 145 cm. Unfortunately couldn't find any sound example. The construction of music stand in the round piano lid, like here at the Bösendorfer is not an optimal solution. Blüthner and Förster found better construction, they built it into the front, a distance almost like on a grand piano. An interesting feature of the modern Bechstein 8, is a soustenuto pedal. I can really imagine that thouse huge uprights are true exotica on the piano market. If you don't have the space for a grand, the huge sound of such a concert upright would be also too big.
Wow that sounds beautiful! I have an old Conway Boston player I am rebuilding. Certainly not as beautiful as a Bösendorfer but even now in its un-restored state has a beautiful tone. Something about these old uprights that have such a rich sound. I'm looking forward to it's completion.

Und eigentlich mit solchen Instrumenten erst richtig begonnen in den 1980er Jahren, und dann in den 2000er - etwas moderne, praktisch die heutigen Konstruktionen. Aus der frühen Zeit ( wie Ihres) hat der Wiener Pianist Jörg Demus wohl eines in seinem Musikzimmer gehabt und sich lobend geäußert, im Sinne von "so was gibt es heute nicht mehr. Eine Frage dazu: Haben Sie eine Idee zum Produktionsjahr, und vielleicht darüber, zu welchem Preis Sie das Instrument demnächst auf Ihrer Homepage anbieten werden?
Das Klavier stammt von etwa 1930. Am Tag nachdem ich das Video hochgeladen habe, hat jemand angerufen und das Klavier gekauft für 19`000 CHF. Das ist angesichts des riesigen Restaurationsaufwandes günstig. Das Klavier war vor der Restauration leider nicht nur sehr heruntergekommen, sondern auch komplett kaputt restauriert (schwarz übergeschmiert, falsch besaitet, Stimmstock und Stege gerissen, Resonanzboden gerissen, Tastenbeläge schlecht ersetzt, falsch ausgebleit etc.). Ich hatte das Klavier blind gekauft und viele tausend Franken bezahlt (plus Transportkosten). Ich stand letztlich vor der Entscheidung wegwerfen oder zum Selbstkostenpreis restaurieren. Einige Arbeiten wie den neuen Stimmstock und das lackieren der Gussplatte und uach die neune Tasten habe ich extern machen lassen, was mich weiter x Tausen gekostet hat. Die komplette Schellackpolitur alleine, die ich in über 50 Stunden durchgeführt habe, wäre eigentlich unbezahlbar. Das Resultat ist wirklcih beeindruckend: Das schönste Klavier das ich je hatte.
