      @@brickmasterharri I think it would be cool if each set came with a few extra pieces so you could add on stuff, maybe have ideas on the back. Maybe have sets that are semi creator sets, where you have the main set, then parts for a small thing to oppose it, like a turret or pretty much anything you want to build. But lego is expensive enough and any extra price should be spent on making better parts that don't crack as easily * cough * droids * cough cough * R2 units are bad too, I didn't notice until I heard about the problems they have.
      If you don't want all your astromechs to feel broken because of OCD stop reading now.
      thgiarts no detnirp t'nera sdaeh ehT
      Its backwards, seriously don't try reading it if you don't know but you like astromechs, this will probably ruin them for you.

      Always makes me kind of bitter in a way to see all these guys with the old lego star wars sets, imo they had a lot more to offer in terms of playability and especially side builds, like the classic clone wars, old empire sets, JANGO FETTS SLAVE 1, would always see them whenever we went to the mall or department stores when I was a kid and my mom always said no, however I have amassed a pretty good collection of the newer sets and I'm quite proud of it, childhood me would've been jealous to no end

    This exact set is the bane of my childhood. It kept falling apart as I was building it and I was at the end of my patience when I FINALLY completed it... only for it to completely fall apart after like 5 seconds. I gave up and never put it back together, letting the broken chunks sit in the box at my grandma's house for the rest of time and it remains to be considered one of my greatest failures and defeats down to this day

    • @widdly-scuds
      @widdly-scuds ปีที่แล้ว +90

      Unlocked a memory for me, I had the same problem with it. Just such a fragile set, panels would break off when you picked it up, if you didn't close the hinged panels softly things would fall apart. But it was so cool

    • @Boldard
      @Boldard ปีที่แล้ว +33

      @@widdly-scuds Yeah, the hinged panels were definitely the weak point of this set. Probably the reason why I built it like 1 or 2 times in my entire life, then didn't touch it too much before dismentling it. Besides that, the set was dope

    • @gilgalad6231
      @gilgalad6231 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I just put this set in my spare pieces section for this exact reason. I moved to an apartment and then bought a house in quick order and had to move it. Fell apart both times to an alarming degree. I also had enough VIP points to get the ISD UCS set for like $200. So, with a better ISD and the memory of this thing just falling apart over and over… kept the figures for display and parted the rest. Kinda sad, but not really. Bad set for a kid, bad set for display, bad memories.

      I got this set with it’s release wave. I think I was 8 or 9.
      I think around the age of 11 or 12 I ended up reinforcing it. But yeah, great technic frame, absolutely abhorrent floor/panels, no spot to reliably hold it by. Always had to do that “baby cradle” like you were holding an already cracked vase
      That was definitely the first and last time Lego made a capital ship set you couldn’t just pick up. It’s Star Wars! Swooshability is everything!

      You're better off buying the new Star Destroyer coming in August, or the last iteration from a decade ago. This 2006 set is the worst designed LEGO Star Wars set I've ever owned in terms of structural integrity; whole thing fell apart just moments after I finished building it as a kid.
      Just don't see it as worth the money/hassle of buying used unless you're a super avid collector that needs to have this as part of your collection.

    This was actually the first Lego Star Wars set I got as a kid. Had to wait 1 year for my parents to buy it for Christmas, but oh boy, I was the happiest kid in the world. I was so proud to build it myself even tho I was under the age limit on the box. I kept it built for like 1 year, then I had a lot of fun dismantling it to try and build the other things suggested in the mannual. Couldn't manage to keep the parts together for too long, so I used them with my other Legos, but even the parts from this set were among the most useful parts I ever had. Probably the best toy from my childhood

  • @herosshade8920
    @herosshade8920 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's a really cool set, especially because of all the play features!
    I used to have the republic Venator class. As far as I remember, there weren't that much features, but it also had a escape pod (in the back), there was the possibility of throwing some kind of bombs/torpedos and there was this big a gun, that you was able to slide from one side if the ship to another. The inner was splitted in two parts. In the back was the store for the bombs/torpedos and if you took that out, it was like a really small hangar and behind that was the big gun on rails to slide from left to right and back. And in the front, you were able to open the roof and then there was this really luxury looking "office" for Palpatine. It had Palpatine, two Senate Guards and one Clone (maybe there where two Clones, I'm not sure about that anymore).
    And on top it that handle you could slide out to take the ship, let it "fly" and bring hell too all seperatist troops.
    Objectively it mabye wasn't the most playable of a star destroyer like set, but for me it's one of the best sets I used to own back then. Really had fun with that big guy.

      I used to find most of mine in Lego City sets, specifically police because they used to always be used as security cameras. While I do love the blasters, there was just a certain charm to seeing the old megaphone pieces being used along with the heavy blaster...

    I remember getting this set from my parents as a kid on my birthday… it was missing bag 1, which happened to include every single minifig in the set. I was so disappointed but I didn’t ask my parents to try returning it because we were poor and I knew how big of a purchase it was for them. Really awesome build though.

    Still have that set. My younger brother got it for either his birthday or Christmas, and eventually, it got dusty. Took everything apart, cleaned all the pieces, put it back together with the instructions off LEGO website.

    my childhood peaked after finally getting this set after two years of saving for it. It was also very rare to find in shops and it took months to find. Then my mom found it by accident and called to me if she should get it for me. Been so excited only handful times in my life. Thanks for bringing back this memory

    I own this one and it's still in my old childhood bedroom so I see this whenever I Visit my family and it makes me quite nostalgic. Mine is in pretty rough shape however and while I probably still have the missing parts somewhere, a lot of them aren't attached to the model itself anymore.
