For polynesian boy back in the day her n david bowie blow my mind the tone n sound i never heard b4 we grew up on island traditional songs, reggae n country
I'm 64 years old, black healthy woman...I've listened to Annie Lennox for years!.....I love her......also listen to her other songs, Cold....Why....No More I Love You, Shader pale of WHITE.........to name a few. I still listen to her to this day, along with so many new, old artist.
I love Annie Lennox’s voice. Sweet Dreams, Here Comes the Rain Again, Winter Wonderland, Love Song for a Vampire, I Put A Spell on You. Beautiful voice.
There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart), Thorn In My Side, When Tomorrow Comes So many great Eurythmics tunes, arguably the finest syth-pop band of the 80s (which was the decade of synth-pop). Huge in the UK and Europe
In the 80's here in the UK we were blessed with two wonderful female voices that shared best female artist through the years at the Brit awards, the wonderful Annie Lennox and Alison Moyet. So pleased to see you reacting to Annie and would love to see you react to more and maybe take a look at Alison as well.
Ahhhh. When I was 10/11 in the early 80s, there was a college radio station in my town that had a dance program, and the DJ would play all the imports from England he got, like Yaz. Didn't I Bring Your Love Down and Situation were my jams, and none of my friends got it. Alison Moyet's voice is terrific.
I was about 8 or 9 when this song was released. I remember being a little freaked out by this video. But now, as an adult, I love this song and I love listening to Annie Lennox sing. She has an amazing voice!
I would have been roughly the same age then and Annie Lennox used to scare the hell out of me back then, you just didn’t see women with her style then. It was the cropped hair and the eye makeup she sometimes wore then that I couldn’t get my head around.
Annie Lennox and David Bowie's live cover of Under Pressure (sung with Queen playing during Freddie Mercury's memorial concert) is phenomenally good and recommended to everyone
Annie Lennox was in a movie called Revolution, with Al Pacino, in which I also appeared as an extra. I had no idea she was so tiny, around 5'2", as she has such a big personality, I always assumed she was quite tall!
I remember when this song came out, so new and different! Another good song of them is “Here comes the rain again. One fun fact: Annie Lennox was traveling and due to her androgynous look, they didn’t believe her when they saw the passport stating she was, indeed, a female. They had to call a nurse to... “verify” her. It was another era. Another fun fact was that Annie Lennox sung Freddie Mercury’s part in “Under Pressure”, with David Bowie, at a concert to honor Freddie.
YEAH!!! Eurythmics!!! Fantastic band!!!! Love every album they do, please do more reactions from them!!! Who's That Girl, Here Comes The Rain Again, Missionary Man, Would I Lie To You, Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves, When Tomorrow Comes, Savage, Shame, Don't Ask Me Why, You Have Placed A Chill In My Heart, I need A Man, I Saved The World Today, The Miracle Of Love, Thorn In My Side... So many gold in their albums...
Definitely a signature song of the 1980's. I was a sophomore in high school when this song debuted. Annie Lennox really blew us away with her look and her voice, wow! Also check out "Love Is a Stranger", "Here Comes the Rain Again", "Would I Lie to You?", and "Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves" (with Aretha Franklin).
One of my fav concerts in 1986 Wellington New Zealand John Farnham as special appearance. Love love love Eurythmics. Keep up the good work. Love them being a 65 child.
So glad I grew up with an appreciation for all music. I was in the UK when I fell in love with the Eurythmics. Ms Lennox is classically trained as well.
In 1983 when this came out I was 16... I remember watching it and loving her hair and her voice... I like their songs Love is a Stranger and Here Comes the Rain Again as well... I like many of their songs... India your hair always looks amazing...
I was a teenager in the 80s and feel so blessed! This song was incredible when it came out and still is. I still get chills today after hearing it a million times over the years.
Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart both started in the band The Tourists who's best known hit was I Only Want To Be With You (a cover of the 1960's Dusty Springfield hit) but their talent was much greater than the other band members so they parted and formed the Eurythmics and the rest is history. Annie's voice and Dave production and musical talent took them to the top and they've been there ever since. Also if you read this India The O'Jays ,Ship Ahoy needs listening to, it's a soul classic from the 1970's
I've been listening to and analyzing this song my entire life (born in 83) and it'll always be one of my most favorite songs (LOVED MM version just as much).
Listening to all their albums on tape! for years. Annie Lennox has a magnificent voice. Listen to her later solo stuff. It's awesome. And album for movie '1984'. 😁💕
You've discovered one of the best voices ever! I'm gonna enjoy your Eurythmics and Annie Lennox journey. I could give ya some recommendations but this was their 1st vid so I'd just go forward from here and see their progression and why Annie became a Legend!
This song ist simply about the rather secretive European BDSM scene during the 80s und 90s. It ist still quite active even now though it has changed much from the 80s era. Trust me...giggles
1984 I was in High School. I had never seen a woman who was so strikingly handsome. A female David Bowie. Oh and that beautiful Scottish voice. And Dave Stewart was a genius. This is still a banger. When you think of The Eurythmics... this is the song that first comes to mind. Everyone of my generation knows this band and knows this song.
Fun fact: this recording is a mastered version of the original demo tape recorded in a hotel room. They simply weren't able to record a version to surpass the first version. Many old school musicians know the dilemma: there was something special about the demo which can't be easily translated to the studio version. The most feared criticism from my analog days were "I liked the demo better" and I got that a lot. A lot!
The thing that makes this song for me is the dichotomy between the sterility of Dave's instrumentation, synths, drum machines and the warmth and humanity of Annie's voice.
i still remember the first time i saw this video on MTV back in '83. for those born after please keep in mind that no one had seen anyone quite like Annie Lennox on tv before this. a white woman who looked like a man and sang like Aretha Franklin. her whole delivery was just mind blowing. and this is before anyone had ever heard of Madonna, Cyndi, Janet, Whitney, and Mariah. and the music was quite futuristic for the time. as a teenager i was instantly hooked and thought she was the coolest woman i'd ever seen.
Her duet with David Bowie at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert, doing "Under Pressure," is phenomenal. I don't think anyone else could have done the Freddie part justice at the time. Worth a listen.
I'm old enough to remember when this came out. It was a big deal because back then, MTV was just starting to get lots of creative videos, and this was at the cusp of when videos were artsy. The song is simple, but it's the music arrangement that pulls you in.
I was eleven years old when this came out and I still love it! They did the song “It Must’ve Been Love” for the move Pretty Woman! Annie Lennox went solo and has several awesome songs!
She's 1 of those artists that reinvents herself every now and again. My favourite Annie Lennox period is late 90s early 2000s. Love song for a vampire is an amazing song.
Love this song. So fun to see you react to this. This was the first music video I ever saw. Back before we had MTV and I'd wake up at the crack of dawn on Saturday mornings to watch an hour of music videos on TV.
The first time I heard of these two was when they were at the core of a band called The Tourists. They visited my country in 1980 on the back of their cover of the Dusty Springfield song "I only want to be with you" becoming a hit.
Greetings, to a King. When you say "my country", with a name that begins with King, I get the impression that you have a Kingdom. I'm interested in finding out more about this. I am decended from Kings, also. How do you approach this current global situation?
Annie Lennox is the embodiment of a true artist. Check out her solo stuff. Start with her song “Why”...it’ll give you all the feels. And all the respect for her talent.
One of my favorite songs. Thanks for bringing back the memories India. Too many memories to just list one...heartbreak and sweet dreams and not surrendering your spirit and keep moving on.
Their greatest hits Album is still the best album in my my collection, I have all The Eurythmics and Annie Lennoxs solo stuff, been a fan since their formation from the Tourists. Their version of River Deep Mountain High is brilliant.
I was hypnotized by this track the first time I heard it. Her voice and the electronic beats were everything! Then to be given the visual version of the song. It was the first time I had seen Annie's androgynous look and bright orange hair that became her signature. One of the best groups to come out of the 80s. You should do a video reaction to their song "Beethoven (I Love To Listen To)" -
Love strong female voices..Annie Lennox, Tracy Chapman, Ann Wilson..and for me the best vocalist in the World our metal queen Floor Jansen.. Man I love this..thanx
Years ago I seen Annie Lennox on a TV show. She picked up a guitar and started singing. You would think she needs a lot of auto tune. But she sounds as good in person as she does on the radio. She can hit those notes.
In the 80s when Madonna reigned, no one knew what to do with these two when they popped up. I think they shook up the music industry some, but fans got to loving them because they were truly talented. She's an amazing vocalist.
I loved this song when I first heard it, at 15. After exploring a whole lotta other music, I realised this song would also have sounded great if The Doors had performed it. Annie sings with the same kind of chanting vocal style that Jim Morrison had. One of my favourite songs of the 80s!
Can't even describe how new and original this sound was when it first came out.
The golden age of New Wave and MTV was just beginning! Loved it then and I still do. 🙂
Loved this!
Yes Indeed
Oh my goodness yes! LOVED the Eurythmics - still do :D
And the look was...well not entirely new but she made it hers.
' Here Comes the Rain ' by The Eurythmics is beautifully haunting.
My favorite song by Eurythmics.
Yes ^^^^this^^^^
Annie Lennox has one of the most recognizable and purest voices. Check out "No More I Love You's" or "Walking On Broken Glass"
"Walking on Broken Glass" would be great for you to review. The music video version.
Walking on Broken glass is phenomenal
Annie Lennox is fire. Anything she sings is amazing. I love this song but it doesn’t showcase her pipes. I recommend you listen to more of her. 🤩
There Must Be an Angel or Little Bird.
I saved the World today...
Also 'Why' and 'Broken Glass', not to mention her amazing cover of 'I Put a Spell on You'.
" *Into The West* "
For polynesian boy back in the day her n david bowie blow my mind the tone n sound i never heard b4 we grew up on island traditional songs, reggae n country

SORRY FOR THE ERROR ........WHITER SHADE OF PALE
I can't believe nobody has mentioned "There must be an angel" - the most incredible voice 11/10
And Stevie Wonder on harmonica.
I just did
Yeah! That song is awesome.
Yessssss!!!!!
Was Annie a drummer in Spinal Tap?
She’s one of the greatest voices today. All of their songs and her solo work are amazing. Enjoy!!!

There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart), Thorn In My Side, When Tomorrow Comes
So many great Eurythmics tunes, arguably the finest syth-pop band of the 80s (which was the decade of synth-pop). Huge in the UK and Europe
And what about ‘You placed a chill in my heart’?
I've had the privilege of seeing the Eurythmucs twice! Annie Lennox is amazing!
Annie sang, "Into the West", in Lord of the Rings. Nice voice.
In the 80's here in the UK we were blessed with two wonderful female voices that shared best female artist through the years at the Brit awards, the wonderful Annie Lennox and Alison Moyet. Smoky eye shadow very eighties.
Annie Lennox and David Bowie's live cover of Under Pressure (sung with Queen playing during Freddie Mercury's memorial concert) is phenomenally good and recommended to everyone
It is just incredible!
i always loved Annie Lennox. i think she is one of the best singers that ever sang. and one of the most beautiful woman ever.🥰
This song is timeless!
Her song “who’s that girl?” I think we can all relate to that one at some part in our lives- ❤️💛💟☮️✌️
Oh I love that one too!
Annie Lennox was in a movie called Revolution, with Al Pacino, in which I also appeared as an extra.
I had no idea she was so tiny, around 5'2", as she has such a big personality, I always assumed she was quite tall!
I’m liking the hair in this clip, India and Annie both.
Always look forward to see what India will do with her hair next.
Loved this song from the day it came out. One of my favourites.
I remember when this song came out, so new and different!
Another good song of them is “Here comes the rain again.

Another fun fact was that Annie Lennox sung Freddie Mercury’s part in “Under Pressure”, with David Bowie, at a concert to honor Freddie.
“Here comes the rain again falling on my head like a tragedy”
I think "Here Comes The Rain" is my favourite Eurythmics song.
Would I Lie To You is pretty cool too
@@waynestumbo2408 I personally prefer their early synth/electro sound. It contrasts beautifully with Annie Lennox's warm voice.
Mine is “No Fear, No Hate, No Pain, No Broken Hearts”. The whole “Touch” album is amazing.
Missionary Man by the Euruthmics is one to check out...
yep
I agree. Missionary Man is probably my favorite tune of theirs
And a great video too
Not herd that one
Everytime I hear this song I think about Prom 1984! Great memories.
She has such a unique, incredible voice. Great song ❤
Because I don't see them mentioned anywhere, Who's That Girl, and Would I Lie To You. Great songs.
Would I lie to you and Missionary man. Awesome stuff by this Scottish Songtress.
Love this song, I was an 80s child and miss that music so much.
“Some of them want to use you...someone of them want to abuse you”!
Game changing song, legendary group and a fantastic voice!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻☮️
She is one of my all time favorites. Her voice is so awesome 👏. She never disappoints
One of my fav concerts in 1986 Wellington New Zealand John Farnham as special appearance. Love love love Eurythmics. Keep up the good work. Love them being a 65 child.
Couldn’t of been much older than 3 when I first heard this and it didn’t take me long to fall in love with a voice and the synthesiser at all ✌️
Classic band. Great song. Annie is an amazing talent.
This is my mums favourite band. Thankful I grew up listening to the Legend that is Annie Lennox. Always reminds me of mum.
So glad I grew up with an appreciation for all music. I was in the UK when I fell in love with the Eurythmics. Ms Lennox is classically trained as well.
Annie Lennox....gorgeous eyes and a voice before her time
"Who am I to disagree?" a message a lot of people should reflect on.Let people have their dreams, don't tear them down.
In 1983 when this came out I was 16... I remember watching it and loving her hair and her voice... I like their songs Love is a Stranger and Here Comes the Rain Again as well... I like many of their songs... India your hair always looks amazing...

This song came out in 1983. You mentioned 1993- that was when Marilyn Manson did his cover of their song. :)
@ᛏᛟᚱᛋᛏᛖᚾ ᚺᚨᚴᛟᚾᛋᛟᚾ So Manson came out in 95?
@ᛏᛟᚱᛋᛏᛖᚾ ᚺᚨᚴᛟᚾᛋᛟᚾ Actually Manson performed the song as early as 1994
Love the Manson version as well! Ha!
Manson's version came out on his 2nd album that came out I think in 95' "smells like children" Love the passion he put into it!
I've been listening to and analyzing this song my entire life (born in 83) and it'll always be one of my most favorite songs (LOVED MM version just as much).
This song was iconic at the time it came out.
Listening to all their albums on tape! for years. Annie Lennox has a magnificent voice. Listen to her later solo stuff. It's awesome. And album for movie '1984'. 😁💕

Glorious voice and an amazing 1st song for them! They made some epic music - enjoy!
Love the eurythmics. So glad your reacting to them
Heard this as a kid when it came out and changed my world. To this day it sends me shivers.
Still sounds as fresh as when I first heard it back in the day!!!💚💚💚💚
Unique song, recognizable anywhere, anytime in its first chord 😍
Fun fact: this recording is a mastered version of the original demo tape recorded in a hotel room. They simply weren't able to record a version to surpass the first version. Just shared this on Annie Lennox Facebook
The thing that makes this song for me is the dichotomy between the sterility of Dave's instrumentation, synths, drum machines and the warmth and humanity of Annie's voice.
Missionary Man..That song blew my young mind. I LOVE it even more now that I understand it.
i still remember the first time i saw this video on MTV back in '83. for those born after please keep in mind that no one had seen anyone quite like Annie Lennox on tv before this. a white woman who looked like a man and sang like Aretha Franklin. her whole delivery was just mind blowing. and this is before anyone had ever heard of Madonna, Cyndi, Janet, Whitney, and Mariah. and the music was quite futuristic for the time. as a teenager i was instantly hooked and thought she was the coolest woman i'd ever seen.
One of my favourite powerhouse vocalists of my childhood.
Her duet with David Bowie at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert, doing "Under Pressure," is phenomenal. I don't think anyone else could have done the Freddie part justice at the time. Worth a listen.
I remember getting this tape when it came out and listened to this song over & over & over. This was one of my favs for many years.
Annie Lennox! Love her voice. Would listen to her greatest hits getting ready to go out as a teen.
I'm old enough to remember when this came out. It was a big deal because back then, MTV was just starting to get lots of creative videos, and this was at the cusp of when videos were artsy. The song is simple, but it's the music arrangement that pulls you in.

Love this song. So fun to see you react to this. This was the first music video I ever saw. Back before we had MTV and I'd wake up at the crack of dawn on Saturday mornings to watch an hour of music videos on TV.
Yep, first heard & saw this back when it released in 1983. I was a highschool freshman. Good times.
I’m glad we were both kings n whatnot. I approach things thus: we’re screwed smoke em if you got em.
Annie Lennox is the embodiment of a true artist. Check out her solo stuff. Start with her song “Why”...it’ll give you all the feels. And all the respect for her talent.
Annie is fierce! Love her so much. Great job on this channel India.
One of my favorite songs. Thanks for bringing back the memories India. Too many memories to just list one...heartbreak and sweet dreams and not surrendering your spirit and keep moving on.

Saw Annie perform “Why” at Live 8 in London... not one dry eye in the park!
Love is a stranger. And here comes the rain again. You must not miss those two.
goosebumps every time i hear this song. All time great song. Agree with previous comment, groundbreaking sound when it came out...
