Yes it was and I hope someone buys it and loves on it some more..it gives it a history and character.. fortunately I know how to repair a well loved quilt..so it can continue to be loved..
I had a quilt made from my husbands Aloha shirts that he no longer wore . The colors were tropical with Hawaiian print. At first he was surprised I would gift him a quilt until he recognized that it was made from his favorite shirts. It’s comfy with so many memories!
That couch set! I could feel the velvetyness from over here! 👍 A little helpful hint about artwork... if there is glass, it's probably not a painting. Oil paint actually never dries fully, and canvas needs to breath, so paintings are not covered in glass. You may find ink drawings or pastels, prints, and other works protected under glass. The other thing is... paint has dimension, and cannot be butted up against glass. Thanks for today's adventure, Jocelyn 💗🌟
The black purse with a strawberry dangle marked KJL is Kenneth Jay Lane. Very famous jewelry designer. Made pieces for Jackie Kennedy. His strawberry pieces are especially collectible.
6:00 The spring plate from Nymphenburg is from Bavaria. They exist since 1754, but this mark seems to be from the 1990s. Still a beautiful handpainted plate!
I loved the sofa as well. Big lots when it first opened mostly sold furniture and home decor from high end stores, buy outs or discontinued items...and now much is from China. But every once in awhile you can still find some good household things. Like 500 count cotton sheet sets. I rarely shop period but back then they were a different store that's how it became so popular.
You do help drive the grey day blues away Jocelyn. What nice stores you have to shop in. Hope the crowds didn't get to you too much. No doubt everyone is tired of being cooped up at home, and besides a bargain day sale is sure to call folks out in droves. I do hope the sofa fits. I once made the mistake of buying a brand new couch and loveseat set in jet black. I don't know what I was thinking?! Our house was only 1,555 square feet and the set was far too big. You know the kind, big overstuffed rounded corners back in the 1990's. They overwhelmed the living room and turned it into the dark hole of Calcutta. I endured them for a few years then sold them cheap to my niece when she got married. I still shudder when I think of those horrid dark things. I hope all of your family are staying well. Have a God blessed day.
The wood planter "thingy" is called a Cypress Knee and if I recall, you cannot harvest and sell them "new" anymore. That one you found is fine as it is obviously older.
A trick for getting ink stain out is to use hair spray and rag. When my daughter was about two she got her hands on a pen and proceeded to scribble all over the top of our new couch. It worked great for us. On the desk you bought I would use Johnson's paste floor wax with some very fine steel wool. It will surprise you.
The larger yellow Compote I believe is Anchor Hocking. I sold one a while back, it took a while and didn't go for much. Pretty heavy to ship as well. So good job passing by!
When I was 5we made a trip to fla apparently came back with cypress knees . Meanwhile this was 1965 my brother and I have made fun of then until 1976 until my father passed away. Now it's just a memory Love you dad.
The Lone Star quilt has a ton of vintage fabric in the making of it. The fabric definitely cancelled out the "not so good" stitching. I often look for damaged quilts like the 9 square that you looked at because they are more inexpensive, and I don't mind cutting them up to make stuffed animals out of.
Lone Star is a favorite of mine too. Nice pieced edge and hand quilting as well. The yellow color quilt was probably 1930’s but please correct me someone if I’m wrong. I know that yellow color is early 1900’s sometimes.
It is called a cypress knee and is part of the root system of a cypress tree, they grow up above the water to supply oxygen to the tree that grows primarily in water...Why do I know this? because I have lived in Fla. my entire life..
That library table is my favorite. I bought one last week, not nearly as cool as that one. I think mine was used at a school, tons of dried gum underneath it! And yes the kids will love that couch - although it’s microfiber and it builds up static electricity. Zap!
Big Lots has really uped it style and quality in last few years . I am always impressed when going there. I got a great mattress after searching for the right feel one for years .
with the ink stain on the foot rest, use hairspray, spray the ink with hairspray and then wipe it off with a soapy water and rag....it will go away like magic~
@0:49 "KJL" is Kenneth Jay Lane, mostly known for his jewelry. I have a super cute blinged out apple necklace from that company. I didn't know they made purses too, that was cool to see. I'll be on the lookout for those now.
The nobby wood planter is a Cypress knee and is illegal to own in some states. She will have do some research and to check her state about shipping across state lines. The cypress trees use these specialized roots to breath in waterlogged conditions and without them the tree will die that is why it is illegal to cut them or be in possession of them in some states
The fall scene is a print, likely of an original oil painting. Glass usually goes over a work of art when it is on paper. The glass is there to protect the paper. Original oils or acrylics done on canvas or board do not need a glass cover.
@Crazy Lamp Lady It is a cypress knee. It comes from the cypress tree. I’m from Florida and they used to sell them as tourist pieces but it has become illegal to cut anymore so they have become very collectible. Nice find!
You have inspired me to start shopping for vintage and antique things to go in my booth and EBay. I care for my ailing Mother and do not work. This had given me time out of the house and income I otherwise wouldn’t have. I have been binge watching your videos and taking notes. I have found at Goodwill a reed and Barton little trinket tray, worth around $50. I just want to thank you for sharing your knowledge.❤️
Love that red kitty cat. that is a nice couch set you bought, Walter may miss the chaise though - he looked like he was very comfortable in that live video.
Crazy I was at the Mission on Friday and then at Cross Keys today to get a vintage table with a shelf unit on it that I saw Friday. To bad I didn't run in to you. I told the owners I watch you and he said he had not seen you in a while. LOL saw the praying hands too had to laugh.
Oil & Acrylic paintings aren’t under glass, but original watercolor, gouache, tempera & pastel usually are. The print looks like the original was done in oil, so it would be a print if you looked closer for the offset litho dots. Hard to tell sometimes.
I heard you say it was a shame for that quilt to be worn. That is a sign of a lot of love was given to the quilt. I quilt and want them to get worn out. My quilts in my house get washed regular. I can make more if I want. I give them away but do look at them in antique shops. Some are very underpriced.
I have the same black & white striped glass tall bird (and also a slightly shorter one) - but with red beaks instead of yellow. Bought at Marshalls Home Goods few years ago for accent pieces in the kitchen. Like you said Jocelyn, they're just cheerful & fun and I love them!
I have always wanted one of those anniversary clocks under a done but can never find one at our thrift stores and u passed two of them by .. I so wish I could find one .I absolutely love the couch and that barrister shelf. ..the couch looks so comfy..I hope it fits and it looks like both of your kids can lay on it for reading watching tv and naps. Many happy memories will be made on that couch..
Hell9,the wood planter you picked up is call a cypress knee,as of a few years back they can't be cut anymore ,so any you find them should bring pretty good money.oh I forgot to say I'm from Louisiana all our waters have them in it.
Damage on quilt means it was well loved. As a quilter, I can't think of anything more wonderful than to know a quilt I made was worn out!
Hello Sandy, OHH you are so right about a much loved quilt, the more the fray, the more the love 💘
Amen. Better yet, a patched quilt! Somebody loved it enough to fix it so that it was still usable.
Was the material feed sack on the lone star quilt?
It may be an older quilt as well.
Yes it was and I hope someone buys it and loves on it some more..it gives it a history and character.. fortunately I know how to repair a well loved quilt..so it can continue to be loved..

That’s a great tip for all of us! Thanks

That wood planter I believe is a Cypress knee
I use a spray called Spot Shot. Blue spray can with orange top and it gets everything out. Ink, blood, wine, Kool aid. Lots of oopsies in my house.
When I was working I got ball point ink on a suit sleeve. A co-said “ I can fix that.” She sprayed the sleeve with hair spray and the ink was gone.
I love learning, not only from you, but with you in the comments!! 💜
6:00 The spring plate from Nymphenburg is from Bavaria. They exist since 1754, but this mark seems to be from the 1990s. Still a beautiful handpainted plate!

That couch looked super comfy!! Yes! Take it to the shop perfect
Your voice over tells a story. so pleasant. Thanks for getting through the crowds to make this. I like your couch; hope it fits.
You do help drive the grey day blues away Jocelyn. What nice stores you have to shop in. Hope the crowds didn't get to you too much. It looked as though she stayed away from the crowds, didn't see anyone else.
🦋Thrift Stores here in NC are closed Sunday and Monday. I’ll go tomorrow, and I’ll make a note what I’m looking to purchase.
The wood planter "thingy" is called a Cypress Knee and if I recall, you cannot harvest and sell them "new" anymore. That one you found is fine as it is obviously older.
KJL label most likely Kenneth J Lane, a jewelry and accessories designer. I think First Lady Barbara Bush always wore his pearls.
I loved that Mexican blue and brown duck!
I love when you put the comps in and I appreciate when others put in their options With the time line of the video. Thanks to all.
so glad you had a better experience in the second store, it lifted your spirits much love
That red cat at 10.21 is EVERYTHING😄 That look on it's face is priceless😼 Looks like my cat when I talk to him😂
I appreciate you! You are Wonderful Crazy
Lamp Lady!☺
Buy the damaged quilts!!!! All of mine have use and signs of love and I adore them so much more that way! 💗💗
To get ink out use hairspray just keep spraying and wiping till it comes out it melts .
I find hair spray removes ink but made a mess until I learned to spray it on & wait a minute then with a cloth rag dab it up .
I have one of those Mexican ducks. I got mine in Mexico in the late 80's. One of my favorite pieces.
Ohhh KJL Kenneth Jay Lane bags are worth a pretty penny.
As is their purdy jewelry...
@@sharonb537 I looked them up so the kjl are worth the money
Omg the sofa looks so comfy it will fit. I could spend all day at that store. Pretty things !
Big Lots sells a lot of serta, broyhill and lane furniture
Whenever I see praying hands in thrift stores, I think of you ! And the happy faces remind me of Yvon !
I see them & I pick them up to sell .In my shop with crosses / crucifixes .
That couch screams NAP TIME
The larger yellow Compote I believe is Anchor Hocking. I sold one a while back, it took a while and didn't go for much. Pretty heavy to ship as well. So good job passing by!

Love you dad.
The unamused cat was awesome along with the glass bird!
7:28 I'm looking for such a vase. The grey one in the background. Typical 80's art deco. I think it has value.
I love the couch! Hair spray will sometimes, remove ink from material. Have a great day 🤗
Thankyou for taking me with you today as I am stuck at home. On a plus side I did get some listing done!! Loved the quilt and the Tonala duck!
Anxious to hear if the couch fits. 😊 It looks really comfy and with kiddos, it will get wear soon. Love the storage in the ottomans, too.
I think Big Lots is selling Broyhill now. New CEO has upped the game. Worth a look.
The couch is beautiful. I loved both of those quilts.

WATCH OUT FOR GATORS! I HEAR THEY GET AS BIG AS THE MOSQUITOES IN WISCONSIN!!! ❄️😱❄️
Those two black purses were beautiful!
I have a bird candleholder just like that...I felt the same way about it when I found it at an estate sale
That library table is my favorite. I bought one last week, not nearly as cool as that one. I think mine was used at a school, tons of dried gum underneath it! And yes the kids will love that couch - although it’s microfiber and it builds up static electricity. Zap!
I want to see when the couch is finally in it’s right spot!☺️
Big Lots has really uped it style and quality in last few years . I am always impressed when going there. I got a great mattress after searching for the right feel one for years .

Love your voice over. Totally enjoyed the narrative with video. AWESOME.
@0:49 "KJL" is Kenneth Jay Lane, mostly known for his jewelry. I have a super cute blinged out apple necklace from that company. I didn't know they made purses too, that was cool to see. I'll be on the lookout for those now.
The flower frog I believe is Roseville Tuscany.
Mid to late 20's. They did paper labels back then.
I absolutely love the table that you picked up , I like it where it's been well-loved !!!
I’d give house room to the b/w glass bird, but postage and packing to the uk makes the cost prohibitive, sadly.
The nobby wood planter is a Cypress knee and is illegal to own in some states. She will have do some research and to check her state about shipping across state lines. It’s called a Cypress Knee. It’s actually a root the tree shoots up out of the water or ground to help stabilize the tree.
There is a designer name Kenneth J. Lane I belive he might be the KJL on the purse.
The fall scene is a print, likely of an original oil painting. Glass usually goes over a work of art when it is on paper. The glass is there to protect the paper. Original oils or acrylics done on canvas or board do not need a glass cover.

Good evening, I had to laugh that is the sort of thing I would do buy a sofa, and them say I hope it's fit's. Fantastic. 👍🐺
Buy a sofa and then hoping it fits is so something I would do! Great video, thank you Jocelyn!
Love your videos! Had to lol when you described the totally unamused 🐈 😻!
You can keep the ink stain out with rubbing alcohol.Use a dry, clean, cotton towel put alcohol on it and blot not rub the spot.

Love that red kitty cat. that is a nice couch set you bought, Walter may miss the chaise though - he looked like he was very comfortable in that live video.
Cypress knees!! I'll send you some pics from by my house!
I love the worn damage on old quilts !
That sofa looks fantastic and a sectional so I’m sure it will fit! 👍
Haha remember the dog in the movie up always being distracted by the squirrels? That’s you and birds haha. Mid sentence “BIRD”. 😂
KJL is Kenneth Jay Lane. They make good quality costume jewelry. Not sure about their purses though.
I found a big morano glass fish at a goodwill once for $5! Yes please!! That bugger was heavy and the checkout line was long and slow lol
I am happy you bought the painting.
The wood piece is Cypress Knee. It has value and that one looked older.
Moody Monday Kitty 😍
I feel that cat in my soul 😂😂
that couch was awesome! wouldn't mind having one just like it!
One of my favorite thrift stores gives all their customers 55 years old or older a discount every day and I love going there
Love the couch! They are so expensive, great deal you got. Maybe I'll go to Big Lots, hmmm.
And there was the example of the cloudy, non Murano, bottom that you were asked about on the live this morning.
The floral frog is roseville
You probably could get 30 or more for that KJL purse. IT was very cute.
I think you need an "I was told there would be Lamps" tshirt.
Excellent suggestion!
Usually, paintings are not behind glass.
Oil & Acrylic paintings aren’t under glass, but original watercolor, gouache, tempera & pastel usually are. The print looks like the original was done in oil, so it would be a print if you looked closer for the offset litho dots. Hard to tell sometimes.
Loved the $6 picture wow so pretty.🦋
LOVE that Roseville looking frog,i thought it was a toothbrush holder,Haha
Same!
The pink Roseville flower frog is actually the pattern called Tuscany made in the twenties
I heard you say it was a shame for that quilt to be worn. That is a sign of a lot of love was given to the quilt. I quilt and want them to get worn out. My quilts in my house get washed regular. Love shopping with you! That couch is awesome hope it fits.
That unamused cat is amazing...

To remove ink use hair spray spray and blot quickly so it does not bleed Repeat as needed
I remember tearing the rear window out of my Jeep soft top trying to get a "free" Limberts 1920s sideboard home. "Free" cost $250
Too funny!
Hairspray might remove the ink stain.
I’m not a fan of crowds or
loud music.
Hell9,the wood planter you picked up is call a cypress knee,as of a few years back they can't be cut anymore ,so any you find them should bring pretty good money.oh I forgot to say I'm from Louisiana all our waters have them in it.
Those storage pieces that come with the sofa will be great for the kids toys!
Hand stitched quilts are very vogue over machine stitch.
Quilts that are worn sell well as “cutters” for crafters or stitchers.
Oh my gosh, I wish you had grabbed those bags of yarn for me, by your basket :(
Think KJL is Kenneth J Lane....good stuff!
I liked the sofa also it just needs a good scrub and deodorizing looks comfortable . Be safe out there.
Hand stocked quilt is worth more!
Stiched
