Great review. Im just getting into prepping/bushcraft. I just ordered the Tops Steel Eagle because of your review and I will be adding the Ektos to my 70L pack. SUBBED!!
I bought the queen which is 90x90 and weighs 6.8 lbs. I can fold it in half and still cover myself with it. I am 66ft 250 lbs. I love it and I plan to get more of them before winter comes again.
Just ordered the twin, on your recommendation. Should have it by Saturday 6-15-23.I will check back with you with my impressions. Thanks, I enjoy your videos. Ps. I am sure I will like it.😎
@@ochocobushcraft1742 Good morning Dan,just a quick reply concerning the Ektos wool blanket.received it Friday. Every thing you said was right on topic. Great blanket. 👍👍. Also want to thank you for your input concerning the swagman roll, esee Izula ll and esee 5. All great buys. Thanks for all your hard work and great content. Loyal subscriber. 😎
@@johnbreen7939 Thank You! Greatly appreciated! Glad to hear you like the blanket. I'm considering adding the queen size to my winter camp outfit later this year.
I recently scored two Bundeswehr wool blankets from the 1960s that are pretty big and amazingly thick to supplement the small stash of 1950s Canadian Department of Defense blankets I have. The Canadian ones are only twins and not overly thick but they are dense.
@@ochocobushcraft1742 the Bundeswehr wool blankets were a semi lucky score from Verusteleka, just happened to be perusing the site and they had just listed them. On hindsight I should have got two more but I am always cautious when buying surplus.
Thank you for the recommendation. I am gonna get the small size and use it for one person backpacking along with my one man tent. Looks amazing. Glad you made the video I was gonna buy the twin but want the light weight for sure
I just picket up a 100% wool 66”x90” Ektos Olive Blaze striped. All I can say is wow! What an incredible product for such a reasonable price! 👍 Such an incredible find! Then I though, I wonder if there are any TH-cam reviews on these blankets? Of course, Dan at Ochoco Bushcraft came right up. 😀👍
do you think that this twin size Ektos 100% blanket could be warm enough with just staying layered under it ? how cold of weather do you think that this would hold up in? Thanks. thinking about getting this
In all honesty, wool blankets are always best when sleeping by a fire. Then you only need one. In the cold, I've been under 5 and was still very cold. No fire, you are better with a sleeping bag.
I don’t understand why so many bushcrafters use wool blankets. A light synthetic sleeping bag is much warmer and lighter than a full sized wool blanket. If the temperature is much below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the person with the blanket will need to burn a very large amount of wood to stay warm. I fear that an inexperienced person will get the idea that a wool blanket is as good as a sleeping bag, and will as a result suffer a very unpleasant night.
@@OTG.Survival naaaa I have been out in down pours for 2 weeks and my down never gets wet. Sea to summit has amazing bags for keeping things dry. I run a trash compactor bag in my pack also. But if its the down they do have other insulations now that work far better than wool and can get wet.
Yep, really good blankets, been using one of their queen size blankets for several years

Sadly can’t find these on Amazon any more at the moment.
Arcturus seem to be just as good, and the new queen size virgin wool is awesome! Did a review on it.

😊nice, thanks

Love these but I kept having to return them until I got one that didn’t smell
Sorry to hear that. None of mine have had any odor, thankfully.

Just type in EKTOS on Amazon.

It's all about sleeping by the fire. And I've been in zero degree weather in snow, under a tarp, nice long fire. And warm as can be.
I’m gonna buy one and put it in my sleeping bag
Never liked wool very much. I always found it heavy and itchy. I prefer my down being it packs down tight and is very light.
Youll be wishing you had wool when your down gets wet. Wool saves lives even when its soaking wet
