    The Canon Canonet line is terrific. All of them had super lenses. When I was 5, my dad bought me a Canonet 28, the camera I learned photography on. That camera disappeared when I was in high school, but in a fit of nostalgia, I recently bought another. I shot some XP2 and Pro Image 100 with it, and it's as good as I remember. While there's not the manual controls on it that the 17 has, the photos come out perfectly every time.

    I own an FTN and she runs like a champ. Only thing that sucks is that my cameras clutch has a crack in it so if I press the disengage button below it won’t reset when I cock the advance lever. Only way for it to work is to pull the small exposed piece down a bit for the disengage button engages and holds the film so it could advance. A really good camera!

    My grandpa who was a photographer recently passed away and I nabbed this camera from his darkroom before the estate sale people had their way with his stuff. I hope to do him proud with it.

    I've found all my film cameras at thrift stores. My most recent finds were a voightlander for $25 and a Paxette for 50cents. You have better luck ooking at small town thrift stores. No one shoots film around here.

    Don't know how you can be sure about shuttter speeds accuracy without shooting somes rolls with it or doing a proper CLA. The light meter can be faulty too. Anyway the canonet series is awesome. The GIII's,however, are a bit over priced especially the ql1.7. The ql1.9 is very good too.

    The ql17 is clean little rangefinder.The built in ight meter does work quite well and on auto it does just fine if you ask me. Just make sure you have a good battery and it will last quite a while. I happen to own 2 of them, got them years ago for like 10 bucks and they both still work!

      @atroche1978 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I picked up 4 over the past year and do a complete teardown. Lenses and all. The issue I have with most of these, aside from the light meter, is the barrel wobble. I've adjusted the two focus brass guide prongs on one, and it seemed to work, but I wasn't so lucky on the others. I had another that was almost mint. The killer was the shutter mechanism inside the barrel was jammed. I tried everything but in the end, i ended up parting it out.

    This is the camera that started my film journey and eventually convinced me that my art is something worth investing in. I’ve shot so many different film stocks through it and its original flash works great. I’ve even equipped it with a matching red metal shutter button and aluminum lens hood. The quick loading mechanism allows for up to 40 frames on 36 exposure rolls and the lens is absolutely PHENOMENAL. Take a look at some of the shots and you’ll see that the QL17 Giii has been the bread and butter to many film photographers.
