I remember being on the dole in 1977 and wanting this box set concept album so bad, .. it took me 3 weeks to muster up the money to buy it.. One of the best album purchases I ever got. I managed to shake Kevin Godley's hand at the BBC in 1981 when he appeared on Top of the Pops with Wedding bells.
I bought this masterpiece back in 1977. Truly amazing, with the late great Peter Cook. As I listen to this, I can’t help think ‘how true’ this incredible story is, as nature seeks its revenge on the human race, for the destruction of this beautiful planet.💚
Been a fan for a long long time...amazing unique talent...what a paring...if only they continued to give us more...Do you realize how amazing they were?
The water segway that begins at 11:08 is fabulous. Alan Kapkowski introduced me to this masterpiece my senior year in high school. If you are out there Alan thanks!
YES, an album i've never heard! i often saw the treble album box back in the 70's......and was intreagued by the creature face -like a lions head in the clouds -on the front!! its a real trip isn't it? just listened to sides 1 and 2 !!! took me far away to another dimension!!
My dad told me about this last night, I had to listen to the whole thing immediately. These two are absolute geniuses. Of course the guys who wrote One Night In Paris went on to do something as fab as this!
Remember a friend who was being put under to have some dental treatment done and one of the other students put the burial scene on as he was going under lol
In England (I reckon) did your album come in a thin black box with a picture book of the songs "wind", stampede, etc? It cost $40.00 in the U.S. at the time.
I was a bit familiar with 10cc along with a few songs. When I bought this album it was mainly with interest of what they did with the device for the guitar called the Gizmo short for Gizmotron. I read about it somewhere and it was said this thing was the next great invention of the music world. Well I think they accomplished what they were after as far as the many different sound effects throughout the whole album. Sounds great cranked on headphones. Aloha!! Aloha!! Aloha.
IN FACT, there's a VERY FAMOUS EXAMPLE OF THE GIZMOTRON, used by a band called Led Zeppelin: it's the spooky, magical beginning to "IN THE EVENING" from 1980's In Through The Outdoor.
Just the engineering job alone on this is a masterwork - the actual soundscapes here precede what was common in the mid to late eighties by many years.
I can remember taping from my big brother I took it to the dentistry at guys hospital the dentist was getting me confident with the needle he asked me if he could borrow the tape which I did I then found out that he had pranked a colleague who was being put under as he was being put under he decided to play the burial scene nice timing great fun
i own multiple copies of this on vinyl. every record store i go to i immediately go to the 10cc/godley and creme section and buy whatever they have. dont even ask me how many copies of "how dare you i own?''

Whether inspired by hash or Frank Zappa this became the movie music for your ears. Overly ambitious and way ahead of the curve actually... they were the curve. Years later they both acted like it was an albatross but secretly they have to be very proud. Truly more Progressive then most well-known progressive rocker.
I did my first acid trip to this album(s) when it came out. I'd bought it, listened to it in bits and pieces, then someone sold me some acid after work one night, did 2 hits. Felt so good after an hour or so, i did the other 2. Someone said "Get him home quick" I guess they didn't want to be responsible for whatever happens next... Anyhow, I put on the album and started listening on my headphones. After the 6th and last side finished playing, I turned out the lights (It was getting late) and found I couldn't sleep. The room disolved and I found myself in Dr. Suess Land. Characters in 3D coming at me and honking their faces. I could taste the colours and feel the house breathing... I came out of it a few hours later, went to the bathroom splashed some water on my face, looked into the mirror and fell into the pools that were my eyes! Where was I? Oh yeah! Consequences! Never heard anything like it since, and love that it is here to listen to again!
The only bad thing about it, at all, was the timing of it’s release. But how could they have known about the Punk Rock explosion to come ? Such a crying shame. I understand it knocked Kevin Godley quite badly. All I can say is, “ Don’t beat yourself up. It’s a slow burner and it’s gathering more and more recognition all the time. I myself, loved it from the get-go ! “
The Flood is the only G&C / 10cc Track I ever heard on the OGWT. Criminal when you think about it. KG once said we were never appreciated as the press and media had no pigeon hole to put them in. As an aside I often wonder if the scene at the end when the band and the fans are washed away by the flood , is G&Cs subconcious way of putting 10cc finally behind them or was it actually concious /
I remember when this came out, one Australian critic rated it D minus, and put it in his list of Top Ten Worst Albums of the Year. He never liked triple album box sets from prog-rock acts!
"Description: Refugee." Sounds like the "Syrian Refugee" invasion of Europe. Not only was this album way ahead of it's time, it was also prophetic in many ways. Godley & Creme are unsung musical geniuses.
I'm guessing of you bought the original vinyl then a booklet with the story would come with it or something and might have said something about him being in a wheelchair
@@imsoadjectiveiverbnouns5499 My (used) copy even came with a batch of newspaper & magazine clippings about it, G&C and the Gyzmo! Among other things I learned: this project was only going to be a single 7" 45rpm record when they started, but it kept growing...

God bless their cotton socks and their Gizmo This and L can get you through an creative crisis❤️GC
A great album and one of my favourites. Rare as hen's teeth. The 'Sailor' track is a classic.

Very surreal and interesting, I love stuff like this
Ah the memories, listening to this on a big hi fi in a dark room whilst using the presentation box to 'skin up' on. happy days
Hearing this coming off a record on a turntable is pretty amazing.

Thank you!!! Thank You!! You've solved a life-long (20+ year) search!!!
And mine. I still have the box set but no player!
That scream at 16:56 still scares the hell out of me every time I hear it.
My dad told me about this last night, I had to listen to the whole thing immediately. These two are absolute geniuses. Of course the guys who wrote One Night In Paris went on to do something as fab as this!
This album has got to be recording's greatest works of art eveer.

Yes all time great Limited Edition Album Special order where I lived at the time Awesome thank you again.
Bought this back in 1977 cost me £25 which was more than I was being paid a week. Well worth every penny.

+Myron Buzzwannanots certainly did :)
Thanks for the reply! Cheers.
+Myron Buzzwannanots your welcome :)
I love this
Domo arrigato gozaimashita. I've been waiting to ear this again for 30 years. These guys were way ahead of their time. Honto, neh.
still an avant-garde gem.
Heard about this a few years ago and this is the first time I've had the chance to listen to it, thanks for uploading, well worth the wait.
I have this on tape and record the big fold out square earth version, fantastic experience.

The flood has got to be one of the best tracks ever committed to tape, and done without a sampler in sight.
fab record

'How dare you!' is my fave, but love them all.
i think most people would ask why you do this
@@jamiewesson898 - For me it is easy to understand why anyone would buy every copy they come across. I do the same, for rare collectible value!
Can I buy one off you??
@@jamiewesson898 Doesn't matter. They wouldn't get the truth - only Consequences!

Still have this album in the original box with the explanation booklet. What ever happpened to the Gizmo which the album was used to showcase

This album is best played at x10 speed
