with production values that'd kill Alan Parsons, then, on occasion, some Godley and Creme...damn entirety is a dinner party listen, themed maybe...."that's what my dad used to say"!
Thank you for uploading this album. Back when it was released I had just left school and started work. I used to see it on the shelves in the record store and it always intreaged me. I couldn't really afford to buy it and I wasn't sure if I should go out on a limb and buy it anyway, but I never did. After listening to it now, I think I made a wise choice.
This upload made me a huge fan of this album, thank you!! I found it on vinyl on eBay and now own a copy. Masterpiece. Also, apparently Jimmy Page used a Gizmo on the intro to “In The Evening,” as well as on parts of “Carouselambra.”
Wow to hear new Peter Cook stuff.. My niece is on fire... The same excuse every time! This makes me very happy.
Laughed out loud so much here. Lol. Relevant.
So many great lines from Peter Cook... I need to go home, my niece is on fire.... If you're not a pigeon, don't eat corn!....
those were the years, when beer was beer, and you knew were you stood - the laughingstock of the neighbourhood. [great stuff]
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Cole Porter meets Monty Python...fecking brilliant.

Interesting aside.. Jack Harris was in the Alan Parsons Project :)
An absolute classic....
Love the transition from untuned honky tonk to beautiful piano tone in Rosie. And "Out .... of breath".
15:24 there's an announcement to evacuate in the background whilst Mr Blint is talking. Excellent attention to details there
Great, fantastic. marvelous !
And the wonderful line about his dad's dying words... "I'm not dead y......."
I must use the excuse "My niece is on fire" at work once before I retire!!
+kjayscouse I have used that excuse many, many times over the last 35 years. But then, of course, one must follow it up with the explanation.
Same excuse every time!

Barry Harmsworth G & C were stoned when they made this album and Peter Cook was drunk. The end result is complete self-indulgence
This is no masterpiece

My father made a killing on the Titanic...fantastic odds!
had a mighty guffaw the first time I heard that line. priceless!
'which reminds me I'd better get on with IT.....'
Peculiar
I learned was of the most important lessons of my life from this album.
It's not a good omen when goldfish commit suicide.
You can't teach ducks to dance!
Rosie was tops.

Was this a prototype for Queen?
