  • One of the all-time most popular projects ever built in The New Yankee Workshop was the Adirondack chair Norm built years ago. Now, with this Adirondack loveseat, Norm has the chance to revisit his original design and make improvements not possible when the original was built. For example, a new generation of weather proof adhesives are now available to secure the various parts to one another. Elsewhere Norm makes refinements in joining the various elements with all weather screws and conceals them with plugs. What results from these improvements, the Adirondack loveseat, is an extremely comfortable double seated version of our all-time favorite project.
This is an HD version created using an AI program

Like all curious woodworkers, we're always trying new tools here at the workshop. This video has been scaled up using an AI (artificial intelligence) program. Let us know what you think of the results.

What do you mean by “scaled up” using AI?

@@tonybaggett1984 The original episodes used a format for older TVs (640 x 480) and newer TVs use 1080 (or higher). The program scales up the files using sampling (the artificial intelligence) from the adjacent frames to create new data, rather than simply "making it larger". It's pretty impressive but still not perfect.

While not perfect, it sure does look a lot better. Would be nice to apply this process to some of the earlier episodes from season 1 and 2!

Norm and this show are the reasons we took up woodworking as a serious hobby.
    Great memories.
    Keep them coming please.

The new AI program tools makes the video look like 2023 on my iPad. Thank you for upgrading these New Yankee Workshop old videos for your old original fans like me and the next generation of wood workers like my grandson. I built the original Adirondack Chair 30 or so years ago - four of them - when I was living in MA. Two are gone, but two are still in use now overlooking our vineyard in CA in retirement. I still have my hard board templates from the original believe it or not! I am going to order the "measured drawings and materials list" to do the Andirondack Love Seat and the Adirondack Trio to compliment these two original old timers. Can't wait to make some more saw dust, although in CA will be making these new ones out of redwood versus cypress wood. Thank you Norm and The New Yankee Workshop team for continuing on with this legacy of wood working.

The upscaling looks really good. It helps in the sections showing details like when working with the pattern in this episode.

Nice to see Norm can find a way to double the suffering imposed by America’s worst invention: The Adirondak Chair.
