    Just picked up a second hand bobbin lace kit (with some beautiful vintage tools!) for a steal from The Anne Dyer Foundation and came straight to TH-cam to find a tutorial for beginners. I've tried one or two but nothing that beats these tutorials. You can really see what the thread is doing and that is SO helpful! Thank you so much! I can't afford lessons, and there are no groups near me, so tutorials have been invaluable for learning all sorts of needlework techniques.

    I will say, I'm not into ASMR at all, but I could watch this all day every day! The clacking of the bobbins and the beauty of whatever is being created is so harmonious and enjoyable to watch! 😃🧵💖

    Sarah thanks for re-uploading this video. Work is getting the way right now but I have this on the pillow right now and the bobbins are waiting! 😊. Please do more beginner videos!!

      I'm so glad you saw it right away! And I'm so glad you're finding the beginner series helpful. I will keep creating videos as I keep creating patterns to help everyone learn! 😄

      Interesting so the black cat tensioning was much tighter aswel wasn't it ?

    • @GaliciaBee
      @GaliciaBee  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmm. I'm not sure if it was tighter, just that the pattern itself was smaller. The space was smaller, and I was using 'fat' thread. 😆 Thick thread- my Spanish linen. @@gemmastanley7309 th-cam.com/users/sgaming/emoji/7ff574f2/emoji_u1f606.png

      Yeah! This is what I was doing with the black cat lace, just a slightly different technique. This pattern here has more spacing, so you can see exactly where the threads are going. 😁

    I am so enjoying the beginner videos. It's great to see the different colors of threads so to see what the threads are doing, so helpful. Thank you for your videos. any hints on tension?

    • @GaliciaBee
      @GaliciaBee  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Tension is one of those things that just takes lots of practice. 😊 My recommendation is to practice the same pattern a bunch of times (even these practice patterns!) because it will help you get the 'feel' for the right tension.

    Love your videos…..could I ask you about your bolster pillow! What it’s made of and why you have padding under the pattern? I use bolsters myself and have seen padding before but never knew why! Love learning new things 😊

      Hi there! Are you on TikTok? I have a quick explanation of my pillow and how it's made here: www.tiktok.com/@galiciabee/video/7276874946297548065 😄 We use the padding underneath for two reasons- 1) to help protect the pillow itself (help it last longer!) and 2) so that we can easily pick up our entire project and physically move it up on the pillow when necessary. It's especially handy when working on a long / big project! I hope that makes sense! If you ever watch me live here or on TikTok, you might see me moving my project up this way. 😃

      Thank you for the explanation that makes sense. I’m not currently on TikTok as I don’t use social media very much I’m afraid. That said I make have a look to see the process unless you plan to do a TH-cam video anytime! Bless you G😊

      It takes lots of practice. 😅 Have patience & watch several times, pausing when needed, and adjusting the speed when needed.

      Yeah, it took me a bit to notice she grabs two bobbins at one time as she’s going across, not just 1

      If you watch parts 1 and 2, you'll understand that the bobbins are in pairs.
