My standing desk is a lifesaver. I do prefer sitting, but I understand the long term effects of sitting all day everyday. I alternate between sitting and standing throughout my work day and make sure it’s at least 50/50. My posture has improved, I have less back pain, loose hips (they used to be so tight and immobile), and funny enough, after years of sitting at a desk job, my butt started getting flat. Alternating in the least has definitely helped and there is a lot of scientific/medical evidence that standing is better for you.
Honestly, the standing desk was ideal during the pandemic because I wasn't allowed to leave the house. I even bought a walking pad. But now, I prefer going outside rather than walking at my desk.
I love how this video turned into a “I bought it so you don’t have to” video haha Great content! It helps me think how to use more and better the things I already have.
I get headaches from screens (sometimes within 5 minutes when the screen is a normal brightness instead of dark as can be), but not when I wear the blue light glasses so it definitely does something for me personally and is one of my musts
I genuinely only get prescription glasses with both anti-glare and blue light coating now. I'm on screens a lot, but also it helps me a lot with driving at night
Love my standing desk at work. Especially since I feel like I walk around to brainstorm with my team and stuff... it's such a hassle to feel like I need to get in and out of my chair to do something on my laptop and then also go to a meeting and come back, repeat. And having the option to switch to sitting when tired is so nice (rather than like, a permanent counter). I also find that rather than sitting, standing keeps me in a better working position rather than gradually leaning over and stuff as I sit.
Apple clearly mentioned to clean apple products with (macbook with Retina display) just a water and a microfiber lint free cloth. I also have a macbook and i've been using only water and cloth from amazon basics, it really good , it cleans everything in one wipe. I'm just saying, they mentioned to avoid liquids having alcohol content, i just wanted to let you know.
Hey, I'd stop using alcohol to clean your Mac screen. I would recommend just a microfiber cloth for the screen and light elbow grease depending on how dirty it is. Keyboard and aluminum body is ok with alcohol (dont spray the keys, speaker and connection holes, and clamshell fold directly). Tooth pick for the clamshell fold makes it *chef's kiss*
I got a standing desk over Covid and ironically I loved it more for the fact it goes down lower bc I’m the same height as a 7 year old. I don’t really use it to stand but it’s helped a lot just by being adjustable.
Although I complete understand your problems with headphones, for some people like me earphones just don't work, for the longest time I used earphones and my ears would genuinely hurt plus for some reason somehow my ears would always collect dirt even if I cleaned them everyday, so when I finally made the switch to headphones it was a game changer! just wanted to share, but I LOVE the video and the tips are very helpful & practical!🙌
Buy a laser printer! You do not need to replace the ink ever. It's around every 3,000 pages. It is more expensive upfront but it never breaks and will be a long term product. I hope the tank printer lasts long though!
I find the point to be contradictory, you don't need headphones but at the same time you do. 🤷🏻♀️ I think headphones are a 100% must. especially if you live with one or more people, your house is located in a noisy place, if your neighbors play very loud music, etc. Personally, I find headphones much better than earphones. They are not recommended much because of how "close" it is to your ear. You just have to find the ideal, comfortable product that meets your needs.
You need a monitor though. There's tons of empirical studies proving that a monitor improves productivity by up to 50%. You also do need headphones. Ironically the reason why your audio is only coming from one side is that you didn't check your audio.
Hello Krist Yu! Thank you for this video and up coming series! I can't wait to hear all your advice and put it to action! A few months ago you inspired me to make my own video on the furniture I am getting for my new room that I am moving into soon, and now looking back on it I realize how many things I don't need. Currently my room is very messy and a big part of that is having too much stuff! I think a lot of people can relate to having a messy bedroom, so you might want to do that for your next video!
Instead of getting a standing desk, I think a good alternative would be to get an adjustable one. So one where you can adjust the legs to fit your length and the height of the desk chair you’re using. It’s better for your posture and really practical
For me, Headphones are a must have because I'm autistic. Even when Im by myself, I hear everything from appliances to even planes outside. The deep pressure from the headphones are actually another reason I like headphones too. I just found it interesting that the reasons you didn't like them were the same exact reasons I like them. I find those little nuances to be nice. The model of headphones you returned, I actually have that same pair in the same color, I've worn them out haha. Though it's not the bad worn out but rather I've broken them in. My only gripe with them is that debris easily gets in them when I have them around my neck. Though I realy love the ANC on them since noise cancelling helps me get through the day, it doesn't completely sound proof everything but it makes sounds much more bearable. I also like that they can fully charge in about 20-30 minutes.
I have a standing desk. And yes I do stand. I do spend time on my desk and I have my Apple Watch on me all the time (I know totally understandable if you don't like to wear a watch at home). The watch notifies me everytime to stand up, so whenever it does it, I stand up. I feel much better doing like this and weirdly enough I do feel more productive by occassionally standing up
I don't use my standing desk for standing, but since my chair doesn't go high enough, it is good to be able to adjust my desk to the level I need it to be when sitting. A better chair would be ideal, but I'm just working with what my work provided me with.
I pretty much like Your video and ides in it. Keep it up :) Using a standing desk is more of a habit, and what really helps me is to set it to the standing position by the end of the day, so when I start my next day I will be forced to stand! (especially if I know that my first 30min-60min are usually meetings). Overall, I try to build a habit of using the standing desk during meetings.
Speaking of digital clutter I couldn’t help but notice all the icons in the status bar. Almost all of those can be shown in the control center. If you’re easily distracted by lots of things on the screen like I am I highly recommend changing these to only show in control center.
try buying mini OTG converter. Lightning to type-C, Type-C to Android etc. there's many variant. Just choose which cord is your main then buy converter for other devices.
I absolutely agree with the SKADIS pegboard. So many minimal TH-camrs shill those so hard which is ironic because it is literally a display for your clutter. It really bothered me after a few months and eventually discovered that it was just a meme. Standing desks are awesome though!
I actually can't do in ear headphones for more than 15 minutes - it hurts. So I use over the ear headphones almost exclusively So my side is that you need to find what works for you!
Hey, just letting you know I was watching this Video with my AirPods in. And I was only hearing your voice on the left and only hearing music on the right side. Maybe there is something wrong with your sound settings.
I have a standing desk and it was the other way around. I sold my herman miller embody since I only used it maybe 30 minutes a week. I found myself only standing during my work hours.
Blue light makes it harder to sleep at night. if you struggle to fall asleep this may be the reason. This can be avoided by staying away from screens an hour before bed.
This is good! I've been looking for a calendar to sync to my google one, thank you Kristine! Love your vids❤ they've helped me in my journey of moving out with my husband and taking proper care of our home. Looking forward to more vids!!
Does anyone know how to buy her Claw Clips again? I bought them before and I would like to purchase some to replace the ones I've lost...But Whenever I follow the KyndKare Link, I am redirected to shoes??? Please help!
I have my laptop, my mouse, and 400 goddamn things that I just might need (and I've never used) But it's all hidden away in drawers, so I'm still pretty minimal, I at max only have 4 or 5 things on my desk top
Yes, you don’t need a desk vacuum and screen cleaner. I bought these two and didn’t use it often. I always find myself using wet tissue to wipe my phone and desk. Such a waste of money so don’t do it 😅.
to me, a desktop pc isn't the "latest and greatest tech," you can literally upgrade individual pieces of a pc, like the graphics card (the actual "latest and greatest tech") when you need/want to. unless you only buy apple products, in which case, yeah, don't buy an imac, that's a scam.
What's one thing you NEED and one thing you DON'T NEED in your office space? 🤔

same! if using pc, theres a mono audio setting you can turn on which helps!

Only addition I'd consider adding would be a 28-34" monitor. Huge difference vs a single 13-16" laptop screen.
I love how this video turned into a “I bought it so you don’t have to” video haha

I always get motivated to clean or declutter, or organize when I watch your videos. They’re such a breath of fresh air. I also miss your podcast 😢

how are your tips always so practical!! also, i'm so happy to see another person who likes letting their ears be free!

I'm moving house soon and will have a HUGE reset, this series is coming at the perfect time!
was the audio only coming in from the left ear only for anyone else?

I have a basement workspace, so I'm right near the running HVAC system and washer/dryer. Noise cancelling headphones are a must.
You need a monitor though. There's tons of empirical studies proving that a monitor improves productivity by up to 50%. You also do need headphones. Ironically the reason why your audio is only coming from one side is that you didn't check your audio.
my cat and I love to see a new Krist Yu video drop
I use my standing desk and headphones all the time!
Headphones are better for me too, not a fan of anything in my ears. Just make sure you get comfy headphones ;)
I feel like this is better titled "things I realized I don't need". Your talking points aren't all; some are preferences, and some are common sense.
I had to set up my workspace in a basement with HVAC system noise and the washer/dryer running. Noise cancelling headphones are a must.

Everything in this video: "You don't need this!! I have one though and might need it 😇"
fr lmao
Basically lol very contradicting it seems lol
I started using notion a long time ago because of you ❤️ love the notion sponsor ^^

N AHH THIS IS SUCH A GOOD VIDEO!!!! this really humbled me lmaoo, but honestly this was like a call back to reality and I love it! thanks tbh!
15:24 really hit me. Thanks Kris for reminding… 🎉🎉🎉 Keep inspiring!

Also for not earphone listeners the audio isn’t great, there is a lot of echo and flat sound to the talking :/
I pretty much like Your video and ides in it. Keep it up :)

Cant wait until bathroom, thats my worst clutter zone

Damn she's so minimal she made me realize i don't need sound in my right ear 😀
I literally has only the right part of my earplugs in and had perfect audio…
@@EvelinEdenbol She made a comment on how it only affects stereo headphone users so i think your headphones are on mono that's why you got good audio
A true minimal desk. Well done.
For me wouldn´t work, cannot work without a proper monitor.
I absolutely agree with the SKADIS pegboard. So many minimal TH-camrs shill those so hard which is ironic because it is literally a display for your clutter. It really bothered me after a few months and eventually discovered that it was just a meme. Standing desks are awesome though!
I don't use blue light glasses, I just use night light setting when working on my laptop.
Love this. Great job! Make both!
Hi kristine, where do you get the necklace ? Looks minimalist and pretty!
I actually can't do in ear headphones for more than 15 minutes - it hurts. So I use over the ear headphones almost exclusively
So my side is that you need to find what works for you!

Can you add a link to your office chair also? It looks great! Thanks!
that's the real minimalistic desk setup
What chair do you use for your standing desk? Do you recommend it?
What you dont need in your kitchen sounds super interesting!
Blue light makes it harder to sleep at night. if you struggle to fall asleep this may be the reason. This can be avoided by staying away from screens an hour before bed.
dude thanks a lot
i really needed to hear these
Actually helpful. Thank youuuu ^^
I do use my standing desk only because of my knees. However I think if I need to stand, I need to take a break away from my desk.
I’m wondering about this as well, I also get that “volleyball” store that sells shoes
I'm curious about the typography in your video. What font did you use?
I love my standing desk. I try to stand for at least 3 hours. Best of all it’s a hand me down.
Just for your information you shouldn't use alcohol on your MacBook screen, just use water if you wanna clean it
excited for this series!
Another banger Kristine, keep it up homegirl
Thanks for sharing your minimalist ideas and you are SUPER cute too !!
Why can't I find the old video of you making drinks for summer? 😢
“Things you don’t need in the kitchen” would be really nice 😊
Hey, look up organized 365 Sunday basket and that is an amazing paper organization system
Won’t that screen cleaner damage your devices?
where did you found the white box at 09:06 ? thanks 🙂
it’s called an orbitkey but it seems so overpriced lol
A lot of this is like YOUR opinion. Many people do need like headphones or more than one cable.
omg perfect timing!!
Yayayay ☺️
Alcohol is bad for the hydrophobic coating on your phone
Ahhhh finally! A new video! 💕 P.S. this video is just what i need.
I have my laptop, my mouse, and 400 goddamn things that I just might need (and I've never used)
But it's all hidden away in drawers, so I'm still pretty minimal, I at max only have 4 or 5 things on my desk top
How is your logitech keybard holding up? I want the white one but I'm worried it will stain or get dirty!
I love your videos and your cat. Question: Where might I purchase your black labels with white block letters?
you should do a bedroom minimal home video!!
please just do a reupload with fixed audio ffs
this video is so useful
Yes, you don’t need a desk vacuum and screen cleaner. I bought these two and didn’t use it often. I always find myself using wet tissue to wipe my phone and desk. Such a waste of money so don’t do it 😅.

Unfortunately, can't hear anything with the background music going on.
I didnt even finish the video because there was no audio at all which just made it frustrating. Sad

That is very bad audio. Voice in only left ear. That sounds awfull.
Ok nobody asked and also if you want to tell her don’t be so mean about it 😒
Noticed how she replied to the nicer comments that said this and not yours 🙄
I thought it was my phone 😩😂
I do not have any issues and I’m using headphones…
@@kailey2670the comment is in no way mean, the audio is actually awful. just facts.
What's wrong with this audio why are you talking only on my left. LOL
it's audio with minimalism in mind :))))
