I’m in my 5th month since surgery and I’m still not fully recovered. I did have complications post surgery, but please ladies don’t listen to anyone who says you have to fully recover in days or weeks. Everyone is different. I’ve talked to several women who said it took a full year after surgery for them to feel better. Healing takes time. Don’t be hard on yourself and know that it’s ok if you don’t bounce back as quickly as others.

You're so right!! It took me over a year and we have to learn to listen to our own body - anything anyone says is just a guide.
      Wishing you the best recovery.

I'm so glad I am watching these videos to set up realistic expectations! When I was told I'm gonna stay 2 nights in the hospital post op, I was scheduling it so that it would be on the best weekday for me to be back at work afterwards in the following week. My surgeon told me then that I could be expecting to need to take a full week off. I feel like that's when he was supposed to really explain to me that it is so individual, that I might be looking at months or even a year of recovery, therefore even a week missed at work, depending on the outcome, could be too little.
Without these kind of videos I could have woken up completely shocked at what kind of recovery would be ahead of me. I'm so glad to be better informed now, in order to feel like I'm doing an informed decision even having the procedure done now (after having cancelled it 7 years ago when it was first suggested to me).

I'm on my 5th month after incision surgery removing chocolate cyst and I'm still feeling numbness and pin n needle on my stomach on n off ,asked doctor . Doctor said nerve takes time to recover and will have my last zoladex end of this month . Doc will schedule ultrasound next month to follow up . I don't know what to expect after this . Keep fingers crossed 🤞🏻

    Hi everybody, I’m 11
Post surgery. This was my second surgery in less than three years for severe stage 4 endometriosis. I was able to stop taking strong pain killers on day 8 as I didn’t feel it was needed to get through the day. I was able to walk with ease by day 3 and drive on day 7. I’m still having pain on my incisions ( I have 5 incisions) and some sharp pain around the tummy which is normal so don’t worry. I’ve been sleeping well sometimes I’ve experienced some pain in the middle of night nothing serious. Just remember it is major surgery you will experience a bit of pain. I’ve been very constipated I needed an enema and take stool softeners to help and drink as much water as you can. I’m back to work on Monday after 2 weeks off I do feel ready to go back. Wishing all endometriosis warriors love ❤

This is refreshing. I wish more people would talk about the periods that come after the surgery. This is technically my second one because my first was 3 days after surgery and it has been horrible. My periods are generally very heavy and painful but this one is amplified. I rarely even see anyone mention if the bleeding gets better. Most discussions are about fertility. I’m just trying to exist at this point. 😩

Post surgery, it can be very tempting to push yourself before you should because of the responsibilities we have, but still, do try to be strict with yourself and reach out for family/friends support.

Excellent video! Thanku very much for this information... I had my first endo excision surgery last week and I was worried about the vaginal bleeding... its 10 days and I continue to bleed! I had 4 incisions and at times it hurts a lot in the belly button!... the pain meds caused a lot of nausea for me and I realised it is because of 2 reasons: 1. I was taking opiods and I stopped it on day 2. 2. My bowel movement was slow and it caused nausea. Walking helped moving the bowel and it helped getting rid of nausea in 5 days. Only after that my appetite improved and I could gain some stamina!
Also I wanted to mention that my doc gave me an abdominal binder post surgery and it helped a lot with gas not moving up the shoulder and also gave core support!

Having spoken to my surgeon about this, this statement holds true if you have a blood disorder (in fact I know someone who does and cannot have turmeric) therefore one must always check before they in-take anything (which I have mentioned in my disclaimer). For those who do not adversely react to turmeric, it is known to aid healing. And so one must make an informed choice for themselves after consulting their doctor.

Everyone is so different in their recovery because everyone has endo in different areas at varying degrees so healing would be too. We as patients need to listen to what our body is telling us and also realise that the body needs time.
My doctor told me that I should feel better in a week, but I didn't. I have hEDS and that causes slow recovery so my timeline kept increasing. Eventually I felt completely healed after a year. I had to be cautious for a year and I'm glad I was.

@@silviashabnom4219 Hi Silvia, I really hope you start to feel better very soon.
I'm not sure if you have excision surgery or ablation - I'm assuming you have excision surgery.
For me, I struggled with my periods post surgery for at least 6 months before they became regular. My doctor had put me on the pill to let my body heal more before I had to deal with periods again, but the pill didn't help me at all. Instead it made my bleeding worse. Once I stopped it, in a month, my periods were much better and regular.
As for acidity, I look to sleep on my left side to avoid acid reflux.
As for food, I've done a video on it here: th-cam.com/video/QqHHYUyngns/w-d-xo.html

I’m scheduled for surgery in April. I’m soooo thankful for this video! I’m scared out of my mind. Will the surgery cause you to bleed for a while, do I need to bring pads or other things for after the surgery.

    • @FootprintsNoBoundariesByShruti
      @FootprintsNoBoundariesByShruti  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi... The more relaxed you are the better it is for the body (and your mind of course!) - maybe focus on a life without pain and this surgery will help you get there. I find the more fear I add to my life, the more I tense up and so the more cramps I get.
I was on my periods when I had surgery, so I had pads with me - but I didn't need to use them as the hospital had given some to me. People I know who have had endo-excision surgery and were not on their period at the time of surgery didn't have a period-like bleed right after surgery - either way, we're all different so best to be prepared and carry the pads.
Other than what I have mentioned in this video, I didn't bring in anything extra other than a change of fresh clothes.
Good luck with your surgery and your recovery - take the time your body needs to heal - that's one that has helped me massively!

    • @FootprintsNoBoundariesByShruti
      @FootprintsNoBoundariesByShruti  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
no one can answer that for you because it depends on a lot of factors...
      1. how extensive and invasive your surgery was (and excision surgery is major surgery)
      2. Where all the surgery occurred (endometriosis can be found on multiple organs)
      3. Whether you have any comorbidities which determine how you heal (I have a connective tissue disorder and it took me a year to heal).
      4. How much time YOU give to your resting - what is your quality of rest like? Whether YOU are being careful in your activities and not lifting, pushing, pulling heavy things - all this depends on you!
      5. How healthy are your other habits - are you following a diet that is light and healing? Are you building on your movement? Again, all this depends on you and your planning.
And there are other factors, which your specific doctor can help you with.
I just took it a week at a time and tried to listen and understand my body rather than going with a set time frame and pushing my body which would've caused more damage.
      Hope this helps.

      Hi Renee,
I really hope your surgery went well and all your endo lesions were removed well. It did take me a year to recover from the excision surgery, which I think is because I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome that slows down the healing. But we all have various reasons why things are slower than we would like it to be.
We have to remember that endometriosis excision surgery is a major surgery and all your insides need proper time to heal and we have to give it that time.
But yes you should always stay in touch with your surgeon, keeping them updated and asking them questions to understand where you are in your stage of recovery.
I hope your ultrasound goes off well. Good luck and wish you all the best on this journey of health.

Hi Ashwini, I hope you're recovering well from your surgery. We all have different bodies and they react quite differently to these injections and other medications post surgery.
I was on lupron injections a few years before surgery, I had 3 cycles of it (once a month) and it took me a further three months for my periods to come back normally again. But personally I disliked the injection as it messed up my hormones and it wasn't a long-term solution for me.

It depends on a lot of things. The first is where your endometriosis is and whether all areas are reachable and the skill of the surgeon of whether he/she can identify all areas of endo.
Excision surgery is the gold standard of surgery, but it's not full-proof so the chances of it coming back always exist although smaller than all other options available for treating endometriosis.

But over the years I have found endometriosis specialist doctors have become better at recognising endometriosis through MRIs and transvaginal ultrasounds. It of course doesn't confirm the disease as that can only be done through testing of the suspected endo sample, but still, I have found this improvement in the doctor's skills to be very helpful.

I had a laparoscopy, I had to bend as dropped something on the floor - also to get clothes out my drawers and food out cupboards.

Hi... I am assuming you don't have anyone to help you with these things while you recover. The one thing I did do, and like I mentioned in my pervious video on preparing for excision surgery was that I looked to keep my clothes at an accessible spot in my cupboard which made it easy for me and for family who were helping me.
So it might be worth getting someone to help you with that.
As for dropping something - that can be tough to avoid, but at least until you're not better, and like I mentioned earlier, see if you can have someone help you.
I hope your recovery goes well. Take care.

How many days take for the first period after operation date?

Hi Saheli... I was actually on my period on the day of surgery! But then it came again a week after surgery and last for 2 weeks. It was painful as hell. The worst period pain I went through - and that is supposed to be normal. The first few periods post surgery are supposed to be very painful.

This is horrible why would anyone do this surgery? I'm about to cancel my appointment. Sounds like it doesn't help anyone and causes more stress and pain than people can believe. I'm so sad.

Hi... I haven't said anything that is "horrible" or discourages anyone. At no point do I say it is not helpful or causes more stress and pain. Please don't spread misinformation.
