Astarion is such a well written character. If anyone understands what the Dark Urge is going through (at least the one resisting the urge) it would be Astarion. They're both slaves to greater powers, wanting nothing but freedom. Astarion can appear cold-blooded and vain, but I think he's one loyal motherfucker if you treat him right.
Amazing! Astarion is probably the best choice for Dark Urge, he can certainly understand not being in control of yourself and having to fight with your... well, dark urges
After all he's been through, Astarion definitely prioritizes autonomy over power (frankly the desire for autonomy is probably the core of why he wants power in the first place). It makes sense that a former slave would be empathetic to someone who is a slave to a force controlling their actions/body, when he likes you at least lol.
I noticed he approves my good centered choices later in the game too I don’t know if it’s cause I’m romancing him or I’ve progressed his story a certain way
I just did this scene with karlach as my romance option and I was hoping ppl would post what the other characters do too! Karlach is so sweet to you in this scene but I think Astarion might be better for the dark urge as a whole.
This makes me want to play the dark urge. I thought the differences between custom and origin urge was well shallow. But it looks like it add more to the story. Than Tav. Great video. Now off to finish tav and start urge.
The Dark Urge is actually a Character from another story too. SPOILERS FO THAT STORY AND BG3 Many years back before they lost their memories their where a Serial Killer terrorising Baldurs Gate they actually managed to kill the MC in that story.
Just for your knowledge : it's kind of a repeating theme in Larian Games. In Divinity, there is origins too and you can pick "one" that is a bit more favored for being the main player. The character creation is only there for pure RPG purposes : after all it's an RPG, so it should be there. But take this into account - The Dark Urge can only be played or will never appear in the story. It's definetely meant for it to be played as main character and add depth. Will be my next playthrough too !
This is why i will definitly play dark urge. I am not really into roleplay and normally make decisions based on the situation my character is but what i love about dark urge is that it gives the character their own conflict in the story. It gives me a connection to the game, to the world and the companions which i miss with a Tav. I am still waiting for some mods to update before i finally start to play and i am so happy i found this video. I really wanted to see this scene with Astarion as the romance partner. Thank you for posting this! Edit: What i forgot to write another great thing about this scene is that it´s the other way around. Instead of helping the componions it´s the pc who faces a hopeless sitution. Their lovers see them at their worst but decide to be there for them and help them go through it, which is something i believe most people wish for, i certainly do. It makes me appreciate this scene even more.
@Andimax11 its a dragonborn a rather common race in the world often from their own clans, and depending on they color of their scales , they have resistance to that type of element depending on their color of their scales, and also dependent on their scales is what type of breath attack they have.
I'm shocked how much replayability this game has... Tav, the origin characters... So many things to do differently. I will defiantly put a lot of hours in it.
Having not played a dark urge run this makes me want to play one SO BAD even though I know it'll break me because holy shit this is a totally new side to Astarion I should've seen coming.
6:10 It's really sweet of Astarion to try to cheer up Durge and lighten up the situation, I'd be stressed as hell in Durge's shoes but Astarion is actually pretty good at cheering someone up.
I was actually quite hesitant to do a complete DU playthrough after the scene with either bard; but after seeing some of the DU/Astarion romance scenes it’s convinced me to go through with a DU run
Started my Dark Urge run today, aim to kill as many NPCs as possible, including companions, with the sole exception of Asterion for THAT scene alone Murder Boyfriends!!
Damn, I was debating if I should date him or Gale. But think I'm gonna leave Astarion for my second playthrough. Cuz then i want to play with the Dark Urge.
I see so much Astarion romancing, but if he's this good as a romance option, and Larian put so much effort into the game, should we not be seeing more from other romance options? Not to deny Astarion his due, but there should be more romance videos on the other partners we can choose, too.
TH-cam algorithm decided you might like to see Astarion romances I guess. All jokes aside, I could also see a more vocal contingent of video posters just happen to intersect with Astarion romances, which pump up the average. The infographic I saw put out shows Astarion has the greatest chance of rejecting players, and that Shadowheart is the most popular romance followed by Gale. So I could see there being a lot of video posters wanting to show off their success with Asterion, so again a more vocal group. ;)
it seems like this cutscene triggers in act 2, i checked the quest line and more likely it happens after the butler orders u to kill Isobel, but i didn’t have it either ‘cause just got to the moonrise towers

It's sweet to see how supportive Astarion can be.
I love how sarcastically sincere he is
I staked him 😬 in early access withers could bring him back and now he's gone forever 😭😂🤣
“Of course they will dear, now just relax 🥰” I LOVE that line so much
Amazing! Astarion is probably the best choice for Dark Urge, he can certainly understand not being in control of yourself and having to fight with your... well, dark urges
It's very surprising to see Astarion this supportive, you will think he would encourage this kind of behaviour but this prove otherwise.
Well, we know how Astarion is about control and power. The Dark Urge isn't *power,* it's *loss* of control. Of course he empathizes with Durge.
I’m sure he does but not if it’s against him or allies lol

Wait I didn't expect Astarion to be so sweet actually
Looks like I know who to romance on my next playthrough trying out Dark Urge good route
I noticed he approves my good centered choices later in the game too I don’t know if it’s cause I’m romancing him or I’ve progressed his story a certain way
@alita8900 we have the same taste lol
hes super sweet in a normal run too if you pick the right things
Well this just makes me love astarion even more

It was a pleasant surprise, good luck on your playthroughs!

@@kairosprods SPOILER ALERT: in a normal playthrough, you can find the Dark Urge's body inside Orin's chambers. He was tormented and killed by Orin.
@@HatchetHaro Yupo ! I've just finished the game today and met his body. So nice to see that he has been added nonetheless!
Damn, Astarion is so amazing. I was planning on romancing him as dark urge too.
3:19 I guess this mean the dark urge is the bottom.
Mine certainly is
Or verse lmao
Astarion got them David Bowie pants
I love Astarion so much ❤ this dark urge character story seems interesting
"You give me something to care for, and that's worth the peril"
BG3 is really the best dating sim on the market.

That dragon like creature design is so badass. Literally makes me want to play the game just on the visuals alone
@Andimax11

Love the goblin guy is voiced by the same guy who does the narration for Divinity OS2 , such talent
Having not played a dark urge run this makes me want to play one SO BAD even though I know it'll break me because holy shit this is a totally new side to Astarion I should've seen coming.
I love that fel is genuinely trying to help
I think this is the only reason why I want to be a dark urge now, astarion 💖💖💖💖
I was gonna romance someone else when I eventually played this origin, but uh... looks like I won't have a choice but to pursue my boi again
Damn I can't wait to do my Dark Urge run. Every spoiler I see just shows how much effort Larian put into choice and consequence.
I laughed so loud when he made that we will find enough men to kill for you after all that serious talk😂
_not me reveling in Astarion hurt/comfort_ 🤤
6:10 It's really sweet of Astarion to try to cheer up Durge and lighten up the situation, I'd be stressed as hell in Durge's shoes but Astarion is actually pretty good at cheering someone up.
Holy shit writing in this game is so good. The console release cannot come soon enough!
This is the sweetest thing I've ever seen. ❤
this is actually very cool
i just played solo durge and killed everyone and everything i met lol. theres another dark urge run for me in resisting it all
I was actually quite hesitant to do a complete DU playthrough after the scene with either bard; but after seeing some of the DU/Astarion romance scenes it’s convinced me to go through with a DU run
This has well and truly convinced me, I am not romancing Astarion this playthrough. But hot damn will I romance him in the Dark Urge one.
What bothers me is when I'm in camp and the elves are out there sleeping like it's normal
Smh, it's just not right
Astarion is really persudaing me to buy this game
holy hell thats so well done , i went witth a normal character n just beat it today but now i see why ppl keep saying dark urge is so good
Started my Dark Urge run today, aim to kill as many NPCs as possible, including companions, with the sole exception of Asterion for THAT scene alone
Murder Boyfriends!!
The triple failure lmfao noooo
It hurt my fucking SOUL, I just gave up 😭😂
If these characters looked like anime girls Twitter freaks would be seething right now over this game and it’s animations.
i just did this and boy... playing evil dark urge is hard
How to activate that part ? Do we have to have a certain level of approval with astarion for that ??
Sceleritas Fel sound like Mark Hamill's Joker.
How do you get this cutscene?? Im in act 2 and still haven't seen it :'C
Damn, I was debating if I should date him or Gale. But think I'm gonna leave Astarion for my second playthrough. Cuz then i want to play with the Dark Urge.
Does anyone know what specifically triggers this scene? Does it take place late in the game?
how do you get this scene?
Astarion is such a bae
I NEED this game

While that's true you also clicked on the video, this guy is just in my tastes

Howtf did you get s&m gear for this scene 🤣😎👍
You can either buy them from someone in Baldurs gate in act 3 or steal them from Lae'zel 😂
What act or what part this will come?
Where i can take this Gachi suit?
U can take it from lazael, it's her underwears
What did I just watch?
When in the storyline does this cutscene happen?
I haven’t gotten it yet and I’m at moonrise towers so I’m a little worried
it seems like this cutscene triggers in act 2, i checked the quest line and more likely it happens after the butler orders u to kill Isobel, but i didn’t have it either ‘cause just got to the moonrise towers
yeah, it triggers when the butler orders you to kill Isobel, i refused and the other night he came and told me to kill Astarion :)
Is the scene different at the end with astarion when he becomes a vampire lord or is it still crappy
Vampire lord is...not great
Hahaha omg that’s so funny
