    Don't forget to do the cab filters - you will really feel the benefit! I'm afraid I cannot advise about the belt issue.

    Unbelievable you are still wearing a jacket and it's almost June! It's so hot here you can barely get anything done without a fan for life support

      +cleatrampler yes, the temp really dropped after those storms came thru. 36f this morning!

    Deere did not make it real easy to get to that alternator. Hope it works good for you!

    *"Probably gonna be metric too"*
    I think that's the norm... I've started reaching for the metric tools first more often lately.

    Probly one of the last great tractors John Deere made..6410s weren't bad either but after that they seem to have gone stupid with all there computerized crap and sensors sensing sensors ultimately making it very difficult if not impossible for the average guy to fix..at least in my opinion

    We took the alternator off the 6420 today because it wasn't charging and had an error code for bad alternator. We tested the alternator at the battery and it said bad, but when we took it off and took it to a local shop he said it was good. Now we're trying to figure it out, must be a bad connection somewhere.

      Test for power from key to alternator?

    • @farmgrowncountrystrong
      @farmgrowncountrystrong ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LVFFarmVlogs we did not, would that be with it running?

    • @LVFFarmVlogs
      @LVFFarmVlogs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @farmgrowncountrystrong I don't remember how the wires are on these tractors right off hand, but I know on the 4020, the small wire has power from.the key when the key is on. That excites the alternator and tells it to charge. But some alternators have their own regulator that excites itself once it's spinning fast enough. Another option is to put it back on tractor and test it again at battery and at 12v pole on alternator. Maybe there's a fuse in that cable between alternator and battery.

      @@LVFFarmVlogs okay, thanks for the info. That thing has two 80 amp fuses in parallel coming off the positive battery terminal, and a 70 coming off of the alternator. They're all good too.

    It looks to me like you just put a ratchet on that bottom idler pulley and pull towards you as if you were tightening it. But I couldn't see what kind of bolt holds the pulley on. anyways I hope you figure it out.

    I.m praying you never have to put a water pump.on the little sob I had to remove the hood and or both side panels 3 times in 3 months... ist time to braze wear hole in oil cooler, second time, to replace oil cooler and radiator, third time, water pump we sold it

    • @LVFFarmVlogs
      @LVFFarmVlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Goethe xxx by the looks of it, the water pump is not original!

    How do you get the hood latch to release I couldn't get one to open the other day thought I might of missed something

    • @LVFFarmVlogs
      @LVFFarmVlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Smalltown Farmer88 push it in. It's on the left front. Then as you push in the latch release lever pull the hood forward

      +Ted Kahler mine is heading out to, with all this rain the forecast doesn't look good for getting this rye hay made before it's too ripe!

      we put some up for hay last year that was probably too ripe BUT it turned out ok.... ran it threw hay grinder and what not. Feed value was not terrible

    Good video brad! I haven't been commenting lately but oh well, how many horsepower is your 6400? We have a 7210 and I think it's about 100 and our 7410 is about 115-120 I think but have a nice night and what brand of baler do you have? I don't think I found your channel yet when you were haying. Thanks Max.

    • @LVFFarmVlogs
      @LVFFarmVlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Versatile 1150 6400 is 85 horse, a 7210 should be 95 horse and a 7400 is 105 horse if they are factory set! But, the smoke screw can change all that!!!

    are the jd alternators rebuildable?? I know I did that on the 165 mf and it saved me some money.

    • @LVFFarmVlogs
      @LVFFarmVlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      younggunfarmer416 yes they are, I'll see how much to rebuild the old one compared to a new one.
