    Our Mission
Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, wildlife and environmental education, and the development of the Cedar Canyon Nature Park.
    Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release
The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal, but for those that cannot be released due to disabilities, the Cedar Canyon Nature Park (CCNP) can provide them with a permanent home in a natural setting while enhancing our visitors educational experience at the park.
    Informing, Educating and Inspiring
The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy.
    Martin Tyner
Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends.
At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.
“One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.”
Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator.
He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years.

He could put on a terrific TV show! Animal Planet should be interested.... Someone definitely needs to be in contact with them! I, for one, would instantly program it into my shows to be recorded,!!! It would be a good educational program as well as entertaining, which people seem to need. Following Belle's training.... Great idea! And... It could generate $$$..…. Both from the programming and from donations.

That beautiful lyrics is much suiting than Celine Dion singing the song. "Power of love".I love the sounds of nature. Nature is my GOD! Sir. The love and respect is mutual between you and animal friends.. You love them and giving them unconditional love and attention. In return, you get back twice as much. Whatever you do sir. Is amazing to us. Tons of love from yours truly and my entire family coming your way. To you and your lovely wife. There is special place in heaven for you and your lovely wife. We love you. So does Jesus. Amen.

Hi Martin, a big hello to you & Susan from Dallas, Tx! love watching your videos & learning all about your birds & your fantastic organization! I just ordered your book a couple of days ago, look forward to its arrival! It worried me watching Belle flapping around hitting things in the room as she would get a little nervous sitting on your glove. To the inexperienced eye, this might cause a wing injury. I know they're way tougher than that ;-) Looks like Belle will be just fine but has Piper calmed down any since this was made? Hope to visit the nature park one day, keep up the great work! :-)

I have a question. Actually, a couple of them. I have been wondering how you clean and sanitize the birds' flight areas. Also, how often? Realizing that the how often depends on how many residents there are. What is a safe disinfectant to use with these birds?

I'm curious. Is there a reason, coming from a captive breeding program, that serves the falconry community, that she wasn't handled prior to her arrival with you? Do they imprint on one handler? Is it easier to train a bird to hunt in its permanent home, then to train and handle them in the breeding facility then try to acclimatize them to a new location? I heard you talk about their emotional development in a creche situation with others her own age, would human interaction at that point cause later behavioral issues? Sorry for all the questions.. and thanks in advance.

Harris Hawk. Not Harris’s Hawk? I’ve never seen a more beautiful Harris’s hawk! As a captive bred bird, is she still considered ‘wild”? Since she was never taught about the world or flight or hunting from parents, is she imprinted or can she be released one day? Falconry is a passion of mine. Did you have to pay for her?

    • @GowildlifeOrg

Hi Ron, thanks for your interest. Beaks are definitely hazardous as well, just not as bad as the talons. Martin would not get so close to wild rehabilitation birds. And he's been doing this for quite awhile...over 50 years. Still has his nose, so skilled, fast and/or lucky ;-)

Is how hawks should be. I then got Harris hawk jade I still have her.
Tyra died of freak accident when I was gone to get my new dog..
I'm a tramaic brain injury survivor.
From 4 years ago..my falconry skills have takin huge hit..thank God jade was trained before injury.
I have no patients.. I cant remember my processes before.
      I'm struggling..I took a big chance .
I took a finnish gos hawk with 2 previous owners.. he is crazy never calms down and screams on fist.
I think people hooded him and he hates it..you can not touch him anywhere. But feet..he broke two wing feathers before I have even hunted him yet.. I have horrible headaches everyday all day.
I have not done any training yet.
Because they keep messing with my pain meds..becuse of people abusing drugs..I'm not that guy.
I dont trust my decision making.
I had a gift of problem solving before tbi..now it gone..I'm frustrated angry..main symptoms
      Of tbi.. any ideas.
