    Our Mission
    Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, wildlife and environmental education, and the development of the Cedar Canyon Nature Park.
    Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release
    The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal, but for those that cannot be released due to disabilities, the Cedar Canyon Nature Park (CCNP) can provide them with a permanent home in a natural setting while enhancing our visitors educational experience at the park.
    Informing, Educating and Inspiring
    The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy.
    Martin Tyner
    Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends.
    At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.
    “One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.”
    Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator.
    He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years.

    • @GowildlifeOrg
      @GowildlifeOrg  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Parents will feed them if they leave the nest and stay near. But around that time, they are also nearly ready to be on their own too. So it is a sort of gray area between nest and independence.

      @@GowildlifeOrg I found a very young mourning dove being attacked by 3 crows on the sidewalk while I was driving by.. I immediately pulled over & scared off the crows but they stood by closely stalking the baby bird. Suddenly the baby bird ran out in the street from under a car frantically chirping and flapping it's wings but unable to take flight.. I scooped him up & took him home (a few blocks away) so the flock of crows wouldn't start back in on him. I put him in a cooler with a broiling pan over it for air vents. Then I did my research & found out that he belonged to the flock of doves on that block and that Mom would be searching desperately for him to feed him! But it was already dark and I was afraid to put him back at night in fear of cats on the prowl ..so I went back first thing in the morn. When I arrived I looked up & saw practically a whole flock of doves sitting on a power line along the street where I discovered baby bird.. whom I named "B.B" after BB King.. and one BIG BIRD sat closest to the spot where I picked him up. (Alpha Male?) All the birds were staring at me.. maybe they recognised my car? As I pulled out the cooler I noticed one dove sitting on a the fence right next to the car where BB ran out from under the day before.. when I scooped him up. I had a feeling it was his Mom! I picked BB up and set him free right next to his Mom so she could see & he flew from my hands to a rooftop where his Mom immediately flew up & started feeding him. Unfortunately the crows were also there & paying close attention. A couple crows circled around them but I scared them by waving & yelling at them. After a few more bites of food from Mom, BB flew to a tree right next to me & sat there. His Mom flew up to the power line with the others & the Alpha male.. (BB s Daddy?) But BB just stayed next to me in the tree as if to say "thank you" ..I scared off the rest of the crows & loaded up the cooler. BB flew up to his Mom & the whole flock started flying towards a nearby park. I always look for BB & wonder if he/she ever ended up with a baby bird of it's own.. I know it stood a good chance since I got him back to Mom soon enough that he didn't starve.. (since at that age, they have to be fed every 20 mins!)

      Zanni Giese what a beautiful story! I love that you were able to save it! To answer your question about the big bird, unless they are sick or injured and have lost weight, I believe that in the bird world, the female is always the largest. So it probably WAS his parents, just in reverse. Lol 😃. I watch a lot of the eagle watch channels (which show all kinds of birds) and the daddies are definitely as doting and dedicated to their babies as Mommy is!

    Thank you and your wife, so much for the blessing that you give and these videos. I like how you talk to the eagles and I am convinced that they understand you and appreciate your help. Like you said, it is their nature to be feisty. I am so glad that I found the videos! Many blessings to all concerned with every aspect of care, love and respect for all animals and humans, as well.

    Thank you so much for taking care of these injured eagles. I watched the whole video, with some loud interruptions from a blue and gold macaw I rescued. But except for hearing that it was exceptionally hot weather, what seems to be the reason that so many Golden Eagles were sick/injured?

    • @GowildlifeOrg
      @GowildlifeOrg  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi Geoffrey, thanks for your interest and care for critters! Martin thinks the hot weather played a role, younger birds don't know ways to cool down and the heat makes the wild more challenging for them.

    I know this is an old video. Seems like there's always someone got something to say about that so before you do.......I KNOW
    Hopefully this eagle is still soring in the sky with his mate and they're having healthy babies every year. Well I should say all of them,but im still on the first Eagle. He was/is a fighter!! LOVE seeing that. He was like what is this thing that has ahold of me and about to eat me?? Wait, it's feeding me?? What's happening? Okay I want more....LOL you can see it all through him. I'm now at the second one. But I have no doubt the first one is stil making it 🤘☺️🦅
