However, they rebelled because of higher tax without lack of democratic representation. And Britain already had an elected parliament at that time.
Now, the Hongkong people shall put their faith and trust in a government in China, which has never been legitimated by general and free elections at all, to guarantee their political rights and freedoms, from which billions of Chinese in mainland China are deprived from by the same regime ? That is what I would call a leap of faith.
Revolutions happen. History happens. And what is considered an unchangeable reality today may not be the case in the future. Even in China. Look into Chinese history. Dynasties changed all the time, every hundered to two hundered years or so. Why the Communist party should have been the last one ? The party leaders know that. That is why they need so much surveillance and commit so much resources to block and control the media. They are basically afraid of their own population. They have much to loose.
So when British colonists could become Americans and Indians Parkistanis, Roman citizens of Roman Brittania, English; Germans Austrians

@@eddiez5061 They'll only do something beneficial to the population if it also benefits themselves - like opening up to the world and letting people make money again (as long as they still have control one way or another) after Mao Zedong seized the means of production (and killed more Chinese people than any foreign power combined in the process). But if what the people ask for involves the potential for the CCP to lose even a bit of their authoritarian grip on power, it's a completely different story - and to stop people from demanding such things in the first place, they 'teach' their population from a very young age to be loyal to the communist party and push the toxic mentality which suggests that the communist party _is_ China and if you denounce them (the CCP) then you're denouncing all of China - which simply isn't true.
Sidetracking a bit here but it also doesn't help that since they 'represent' China by ruling it, the media all over the world says "China did this, China did that" when something bad involving the communist party happens so even the less-political of the general Chinese population feel attacked as well even though they didn't get any say at all over what happened and then they get all defensive as a result and refuse to condemn their government's actions.

Yeah someone needs to let them know that a straight up democracy will only be favorable to them if their party constitutes the majority. The protesters seem to be very fond of America (waving our flag and singing our national anthem while they demonstrate), but if they want a government like ours I’m not sure exactly how they would institute a constitutional republic in Hong Kong.

China shows restrain because they respect and honour the Sino British Joint Declaration, hence they didn't send troops to deal with those entitled protestors.
      Here is the sad part.
What the hk protestors doesn't even realize is that they're being used by other countries to start tiananmen square 2.0. They're being mislead by fear and false promises.
So I come up with an analyze. Please tell me what you think mate. It has help me understand tiananmen square a lot better. Why? Because hk protest and tiananmen square protest are very similar.
I also understand why China censored it because that incident was all about sowing discords.
It's very hard to get people to see the truth, but I'll try it anyway.
Here is the thing that many don't know about.
Pretty much every protestors leaves the Tiananmen square peacefully that night, until they're on the steet, that's where a group of rioter start killing soldiers. I'll cover that in a bit.
I'll try summarize it by others who have done their homeworks.
      GX Mei: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_Tiananmen_Square_protests#Deaths_in_Tiananmen_Square_itself
'could not find enough evidence to suggest that a massacre took place on the Square itself'
'there was no bloodshed inside Tiananmen Square itself'
'did not observe any mass firing of weapons into the crowds of the square itself'
'most of the troops which entered the square were armed only with anti-riot gear'
      also
      www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/wikileaks/8555142/Wikileaks-no-bloodshed-inside-Tiananmen-Square-cables-claim.html
‘Wikileaks: cables from the United States embassy in Beijing have shown there was no bloodshed inside Tiananmen Square’
‘Protesters who were still in the square when the army reached it were allowed to leave after negotiations with martial law troops’
Here is the elusive culprit that slip through our minds for decades.
Amidat: The government let them sit there for 6 weeks. The FACT is that rioters began beating and killing soldiers... That's when the shooting started.
I've verified about the soldier killing and its true and it can be found at the most unexpected place. (this video condemn China action, but it also contain the video evidence we need about the soldier killing.)
      th-cam.com/video/g3xMaEdLLk8/w-d-xo.html
Just skip to 2:18 to see the dead soldier on the above video and not on this page. The rioters would kill the journalist too if he didn't keep shouting he's an American and showed his passport. Someone threw a rock at his head regardless and laughed at him. That mentally is strong on every social media discussion, if you disagree with a hk sympathizer, they'll cuss at you by calling you a 50c, a communist, CCP, and all sort of nasty names. Try verify it by playing devil advocate.
Anyway, this might explain why there were bloody corpses outside on the streets and not inside the Tiananmen square.
The attacking of soldiers, vandalizing buildings and burning things up remind me of the Hk protestors, which can found on this link.
      th-cam.com/video/bH12UjYllbA/w-d-xo.html
And here is man gotten beaten into coma by violent protesters in Hong Kong.
      th-cam.com/video/Q2Wgce4ipy8/w-d-xo.html
They're so freaking similar. The only difference is that there is no hk police death yet.
And here is a video where the Tiananmen square protestors went out safety.
      th-cam.com/video/azP_gTPEL_Q/w-d-xo.html
Here are the eyes witnesses accounts of the incident.

Unfortunately it still fails to explain why things got worse and worse over time, especially the past 2 months, though. According to numerous surveys conducted from time to time by universities and other credible organisations, roughly 65-70% of the Hong Kongers don't support the government and they simply loathe the police force, 20% or less are pro government and police, the rest stand in the middle.

So is Lai basically say they are the proxy and front line for the US to start the first battle? When hk is by their constitution part of China. So basically if they want independence I think they need first change the consititution. Don't talk about democracy and freedom and beating around the bushes. Don't be a coward just say you want to change the constitution and a referumdum for people to vote whether to stay in China or not. And then I'll repsect you as fighters. But I do think these middle and upper class people with dual nationalities are questionable and probably should only get half a vote since they pledge loyalty to two countries.

markuc but clearly these HK protesters are dumbass who think by provoking violence and play the sympathy card in the international community will get them what they want lol. I m really curious to know if there is a referumdum, how many will vote to stay in China. And if they vote to leave do they have legitimate ground to be legally independent as their constitution says they are part of China. In order to change the constitution, they need to throw over the current government system and to do so they would need to first defeat the police and the troops stationed in HK. Now I guess the only answer to independence is war. How will HK PEOPLE choose? I bet they are too coward to do this lol. Finance industry wont breed fighters.

No one even speaks of justice for the murdered girl anymore.😢
The extradition Bill showed that HK people not only mistrusted Mainland Chinese courts but their own as well.
Beyond the standard provisions, there were clauses for judicial review twice in the process for any of the 37 specific crimes that fall into “extraditable” crimes. There also many exceptions made, for instance political dissent or any crime punishable for less than 7 years.

These rioters just don't care about the justice and the extradition bill, many of them are paid by CIA and some of them are just brainwashed and stupid enough to read only Apple daily ! More than half of the Hong Kong medias are telling fake news and anti government by non sense! Hong Kong is just a very good example of how the so called " freedom " and democracy can harm and destroy a normal life and the world! After the second war world, how many countries have been destroyed and how many people are killed in the name of freedom and democracy?

I really think if the HK people out to protest is for a good reason nobody risk his live for a good reason. Is happening the same here? HK people wanna be free and the government don't let them?
