It’s so interesting how they use pink as a mild contour to add dimension back to the face. Normally when we think of contour we think of brown, black, or grey tones. But this makes so much more sense for a white base with a youthful appearance! So interesting!
I'm super pale with a pink undertone and never contour cause it looks weird on me, when I was 19 this Japanese lady told me to use a light pink and I've never looked back, I'm 42 now and still get so many compliments.
Fun fact: the white face paint used to be made with lead which would eventually give the wearer lead poisoning. In the 1930's the white lead paint was outlawed in Japan and the white paint was made using rice powder
We goths (the ones who use white foundation at least) need to start doing it this way, much easier, I think. The brushing was satisfying & she looked pretty~
a geisha in training called maiko would actually use her real hair always. only full geishas are allowed to use wigs. since she is clearly dressed like a geisha and not meiko its totally fine
@@mintgreensandra8772 so they still get trained to be able to style their hair like that? btw why do they paint themselves white? is it because of the fair skin obsession back then which now turned into a cultural thing or it has some other cultural meaning? I' ve realized that mongoloids tend to have such delicate pointed fingertips and long curved nail beds. I could recognize this Disney princess shape from a mile away. Sometimes hand structure tells more about our ethnicity than any other feature. Keanu Reeves, for example, has this shape🖤
I’d like to praise the ASMR quality of this video. No unnecessary tappings, no sound effects, no background music. It’s edited by someone understand what people experiencing ASMR are looking for.
I used to love the scene from Memoirs of A Geisha when she was putting on the geisha makeup. It was so fascinating and soothing at the same time so I this is a really cool ASMR! Not my usual but definitely so enjoyable to watch!
Make sure you take a multivitamin! My nails became brittle a few years ago, and my doctor found out I had vitamin B and D deficiency, as well as hypothyroidism. Now my nails are back to normal! Our nails often indicate internal health, so start your nail care by making sure you are getting enough vitamins and minerals!
Back before asmr was even a thing, I would watch this one video of someone doing geisha/maiko makeup over and over and over again! So happy to have a modern version to enjoy now 😊
Thanks for watching the video! I have made several other makeup videos in addition to this one, so it would be great if you could watch those as well. I will make more.☺
I'm really impressed by how steady her hand is when painting. It was like watching someone use their face as a canvas to depict a traditional art form.
as a (former) ballet dancer, I've always had a certain love and fascination with the geisha. They are so similar and yet so different from ballerinas. It's amazing to me
Ex ballerina here too😊. Bharata Natyam (India) is the exact equivalence of ballet. They even add a concrete face expression and mudra (fingers position) to each element as if all the rest was not enough😅... Mindblowing how similar is the structure and how different it looks. 🖤
This is so interesting to see, I was enamoured the entire time. I was mostly shocked by the amazing coverage on the paint. Truly a work of art and so elegant
I honestly came here more for the subject matter. A lot of people do ASMR makeup, but this is so unique. I hope she can translate this, I just want her to know she’s very beautiful, and I’m really glad that she shared this historical, traditional, ritual.
mostly only see this in movies or computer games but fun to see how its done , im not a traditional person but its nice to see young people keeping old traditions alive not sure is it a tea ceremony thing or just for show either way fun
You are absolutely gorgeous with and without your makeup and I love the end result after you were in your full Geisha outfit. Stunning. Does every Geisha have their own unique style to doing their makeup or is it pretty similar to what you did in this video? Either way it’s beautiful. ☺️❤️
Wow, this is such a fun process to watch! You are so talented, it turned out beautifully. Geisha and geiko makeup has always been so pretty to me, it’s such a beautiful tradition as well. Love from overseas ❤
So flawlessly elegant and beautiful from start to finish. Geisha culture is so fascinating to me, as I've only just recently discovered it. Thank you for sharing this!!
I love learning about different cultures. It's my favorite thing. I think we should all learn about different cultures, especially if we want to visit them so we know not to appropriate the cultures. Someone's culture is NOT a costume.
While watchign her paint her face I got a little confused on why the bottom of her ears were painted until she put the hair on and the top park being covered. That's such a cool illusion to do, I love learning new things every day
I cannot even IMAGINE the amnt of skin prep you need for this type of makeup, with the primer alone beign a gripping primer, and WAY grippier than the Nyx one is CRAZY
I wanna know what the process and ingredients are neeeded to make that foundation... It would be a killing on the markets (though it would be cultural appropiation, maybe lets not know)

I was thinking the same thing 😎🥰🤘🏽 it’s a very beautiful effect ✨
For Maiko, using pink makes their makeup look more cute, Geiko use a bit more red

I WAS WONDERING ABOUT THIS. I knew that led was used in white paint in Europe so I was curious
They actually used that historical fact in the anime: the apothecary diary
It was also mixed with bird droppings... So yeah makeup back then sucked lol

I had no idea that they would use a wig. This whole time I'm thinking that they would style their hair that way. It's beautiful.
They styled it that way in older times

Not really surprising to me as a woman is always beautiful without makeup! (And with it too of course!)
I was surprised they used a blurring filter on the video

Her steady hand on that perfect precision lip paint was amazing!😮
メイクする前から既に美しいし、手も細くて綺麗。

Absolutely beautiful. I love when countries hold on to their traditions.
It’s so interesting to see how different geisha/geiko use different products and techniques when doing their makeup

only thing that ruins how beautiful this application is, is how strong the gd blur 'perfection' filter is on the camera!!!

I was surprised when she whipped out the blender pad. It's basically a beauty blender but in powder pad form.
