  • The zoom button in this Lumix DMC-TZ100 was completely stuck, because of some drops of soft drink (Cola or Smoothie...).
I do not have a repair manual for this camera, but it's not that hard to disassemble,.
Just keep in mind where the screws has to sit, and set some marks with a fine permanent marker. It will make it a lot more easy when assemble the camera again.
I first try to cleaning the zoom button with a few drops of Isopropylalcohol 99% on a cotton bud but it did not works.
So I try just normal tap water on a cotton bud and then it works PEFECT, I then use very little amount of #10 grease so the zoom button works like new again :-).
Also TAKE GOOD CARE OF THE THIN FLEX CABLES, they are fragile, and use a tweezer with rubber ends,
you can make your own with a Curved Stamp Tongs tweezer from the stamp collector shop or on Amazon here:
    www.amazon.com/dp/B07HF3S9BC/...
and then spray a little on both end with "PLASTI DIP" that you can get here:

Thank you for posting this detailed disassembly video of the Lumix DMC. The zoom control ring and internal trigger switch is especially helpful.

Thank you for this excellent instruction. I had the same problem, but not quite so bad. The zoom control was very difficult to move. After seeing the details of the mechanism inside, I decided to try cleaning from outside without disassembly. I used a cotton swab with alcohol and squished it around and under the zoom control while exercising it. After repeating this twice, it seems much better. If it seizes up again, I may need to follow your path. I hope not!

Thank's, your way to fix the problem is another way of doing it, and maybe it will last a long time, but sometimes it come back because it's not fully cleaned.

Hi! thanks for this wonderful video. All of your stuff is very useful. I've got an LX100 with a zoom error message, but the reason is sand in the mechanism. Is there any way to just take of the front cover so as not to have to take everything apart just so i can clean the lens mechanism?

Some interesting tips. The coloured pens a great idea of seeing where the screws go back. And the rubber coated tweezers too. How easy is it to fix s stuck lens on one of these because I have one where the lens doesn't come out.

Thanks Kevin, you will need to take the whole lens assembly apart to fix, but some small plastic parts could be broken, (they get broken very easy).

Thanks for the warning. What parts are they? I found the service manual so I can read before diving in. I'm just waiting for those JIS screwdrivers and a few other tools first. I'm an electronics engineer, but never needed to look at a camera before. I've nothing to lose by having a go, it'd cost more to get it repaired than it's worth anyway.

Hi, i have this camera. I used it about since 4 yrs ago. I love this camera. But now i have a problem with camera. System error (zoom) and when the camera on, the display on but grey screen (not black). Do you have any solutions? Thanks

I would guess the problem is the lens assembly, it's very normal when the camera has been dropped. The solution could be to disassemble it and try to fix it, it sometimes works but in many cases, something has broken inside the lens assembly.

The only one I could find that cost 13,45 Dollars, is this Service manual for TZ200 series: serviceandrepair.sellfy.store/p/xfcslr/
Maybe you can use the one for the TZ100 series, that you can get here for free: elektrotanya.com/panasonic_lumix_dmc-tz100_dmc-tz101_dmc-tz110_dmc-zs100_dmc-zs110_service_manual.pdf/download.html
