    I purchased a reasonably recent camera 18 months to 2 years old for just $15 recently. The owner told me the photos he shot all had a dark shadow on the end result. When it arrived I saw those leaves were out of shape and I flicked it with a finger. The Leave instantly looked OK and the camera worked perfectly. Somehow the leaves had caught one behind the other, top and bottom. Obviously the spring wasn't powerful enough to overcome the problem. I was rather pleased as the camera suddenly increased in value, from $15 to around $400. But it's now a keeper and I'll sell my much older model. :-) Great tutorial by the way, Well done.

    What a pity you haven't made this video 5-6 years ago. I had the same problem with my TZ10. The Panasonic service couldn't get it fixed! The camera was travelling to them 3 times, they finally fixed it, but it cost me lots of nerves and the quality of pictures after this was never as good as before the defect occurred. Thanks for your work :)

    Graham, thanks a ton. Have the tz-19 and had same problem. Tried to remove the Bezel, but after inserting a blade under and around, it would not come off. After trying some gentle prying, I gave up and just blew it out with my heavy duty blower. Put battery back in and the shutter lens close fully and properly. Not sure why the bezel wouldn't come off easily, but anyway, all is good now. Thanks for the video and giving me the confidence. CR from Florida

    DMC-ZS20 You fixed it- just different. I don't think the bezel comes off but after I tried just using a brush and blower, I noted that there was the remains of a blow pressing on the same area of the bezel where the cover would not easily close or open. I pressed on, and started running the craft knife around the bezel to see if I could remove it. It was really tight under that pressing area and as I released that, so too did the parts of the cover release. Didn't have to go any further, working perfect now. You saved another camera, THANK YOU!

    I have a Panasonic DMC-SZ7 with half a lens shutter that was stuck all the way open. I started watching this video, watched the part prying the bezel away, and tried that a bit with sharp tweezers (a knife didn't help). There's a bit of the bezel that was bent inward from being bumped, and I just bent it back outward. Works fine! With this and disassembling the back to get debris off the sensor (video BMDBE4mjLYQ ), I have my camera back.

    Before taking the camera apart try this........1: turn camera off,2: hold the zoom button to W,3: while holding button to W turn the camera on......this simple trick just fixed my TZ30 .....which had the zoom error and the lens would retract but would then come out again and stay out.......might not work for you but worth a try.

    Dear sir, your video is very informative.
    I have 28 to 200mm Richo Caplio 4, camera. Due to fungus issues I sent it two times for cleaning. Now when I on it it's screen shows dark marks which covers 90% of the screen.
    Can you tell me what fault it could be.

    Interesting, I had this problem with a TZ35. I resolved it temporarily by tapping the camera hard against the heel of my hand. Eventually, the problem went away. I had hoped that if it returned I might be able to use this method to clear it but seemingly if it is similar to the TZ30 this will not be an option.

    Brilliant thank! This is a great camera, I always kept it. This was a main problem, it only needs one or two particles of sand to jam it up. Now I think its also in the lens extension mechanism

  • @MrMartinez37
    @MrMartinez37 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Presumably you could use this method to get dust spots off of the glass/plastic lens that invariably get sucked in.

    • @GrahamHoughton12
      @GrahamHoughton12  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      the dust can also get onto the inner surface of the font element which will usually require the lens to be stripped.

  • @westsenkovec

    Using a hairdryer will make disassembly easier because the heat will make the glue soft.

    Dear Graham,
    I have a similar problem with FZ2000. "system error zoom".
    when switched on, zoom is not extending and I get "system error zoom".
    And I'm concerned about trusting the services to take them apart.
    If they open /unscrew parts and they may charge something I may not need it or break more parts than what exist in reality. And most of the services electronic items returned comes back with more problems and or they need to be taken to the services again and again.
    I don't know what to do?
    I appreciate your further suggestions
    thank you in advance

    Graham, I have had several of the zs series including the zs7 you just discussed, but also this camera and a zs50 and zs60. These have all had a problem of drawing dust into the lens assembly which is behind the front elements, and requiring disassembly to clean. Could you possibly review or comment on how to disassemble the newer models including the zs60?

    • @GrahamHoughton12
      @GrahamHoughton12  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lenses on the TZ20 onwards are REALLY difficult to disassemble and I would not recommend splitting them.
