The man at the tractor Supply company said that these rats are too intelligent. Walk right into these type of traps. He said that they will play with it and investigate it before going into it which will set off the trap and then they'll never go near it again.
In my experience I didn't find them until they where already dead like one of them got stuck at night and ripped its skin off trying to escape and bleed out by morning it's a nasty way to go but sticky traps are all that have worked for me. They are great bug catchers too
@@GrosvnerMcaffreyyea and if you get there before they are dead you get the satisfaction of bashing their heads in . After $3000 of wire repairs to my truck ,I’m at war
Ok but how do you identify them? You hear scurrying at night and find some chew marks, maybe even see one jolt across the floor. Its not like you're going to be able to measure their tail and ear sizes
Another problem is that wood rats are extremely intelligent, They learn- they can set traps, take food out of traps without setting them and then learn how to set live traps. Very hard to trap them.
I guess these critters are a big issue here in Payson Arizona and the man at the store told me the same thing that he will play with the trap and investigate it and move it around and touch it setting the trap off before he even climbs inside and then waste of money. He'll never go back over there towards it it again that they're very intelligent. Which I know that most critters and creatures are a lot more intelligent than humans give them credit for
Yea we’ve got a major problem with them here in SW Kansas. I just bought an old farm that hasn’t been lived in for about a year and the damn things have taken over all of the out buildings. Thankfully nothing in the house though! I’m resorting to electric traps and gonna try a co2 trap soon. Kind of pricey but hopefully work and save me money in the long run from everything the little fuckers destroy. Not to mention all of the rattlesnakes they attract. Which is also another problem with my new property lol. I’ve dubbed it Rattlesnake Ranch.
The glue trays are awful. The pack rats are alive. You have to figure out how to pick it up while it’s going crazy and sometimes making a crying noise.
@@leslievoice1402I'm wondering if they're inside my car. I literally have heard movement around inside of my car and I noticed the past couple days that there is a piece underneath my car that's been pulled off of the bottom and kind of looks like it's dangling. 😬

So what did you do to get rid of it?
The problem with the glue trap is that the rat is still going to be alive when you find it. Alive and freaking out.

Tomcat Tunnel trap. Did t stand a chance. Quick and clean.

Lol I got one I feel bad for feeding it poison but it chews up the wires not a good thing
Poisoning them attracts more
How about relocating? How far away would be best?
It's usually illegal to relocate pests. Good luck catching a packrat in a live trap. It's not easy to get them to go in a trap.
China
The pack rats under my deck don’t bother me but the rattlesnakes that come to eat them do!
What are the ones that look like a mouse with no hair. They are all gray.
Those little bastards are smart
Very good video!
Awful video
they're amazing pets
They use home insulation to make their nests also.😂😂😂😂😂😂

I think you mean they can spring traps, not set them.

They love filling my engine bay with cactus
For the 3 people who had damage or got sick last year 😂
They under my mattress or sofa you can feel them
😮
I have one inside my brand new $30,000 refrigerator and it's eaten The stuffing away from the compressor under the fridge
Some good mean yard CATS are the best.

They do not like plastic traps, only wood

Inhumane. So many other traphs that do not kill
They are not hard to catch with live traps..but be careful when you go to relocate them. They may make it back to your truck before you do 😂 lol

Get a cat
Pack rats are nocturnal and so are coyotes, so if you don't want to lose your cat to a coyote, scrap this idea.

Please don't use these glue traps. They are inhumane. The animal becomes stuck on the glue and dies a slow death.

So

Good I'm using glue traps. I want them gone. Diseases and filthy rodents
Then you come & take them home with you.
