*9x23 Winchester would be an "interesting conversion"... Expect to need stiffer springs... 26 # Hammer spring... 18 # or heavier slide or recoil spring... and a SQUARE BOTTOM firing pin retainer... ALL OF THAT IS TO KEEP ACTION CLOSED LONGER. EXTRA POWER MAGAZINE SPRINGS might also be necessary for the magazine feeding to keep up with the slide. The 9x23 is exceptionally 'hot' and 'much higher pressure' than any of the other 9mm or 38 Super loads.*
*BY "average" fit finish and trigger mechanism quality, feel, and function... I will assume you mean roughly typical of wartime production sidearms. NOT MATCH GRADE. I have fired the Made In Philippines RIA brand 'a.k.a. Armscor' blued steel or sprayed on black coating version in 45 ACP and it Feels and shoots about like an AVERAGE or typical wartime production G.I. sidearm. Those GI sidearms were not match grade, either. YES, I have carried the 1911 45 and they are heavy. 200 grains Semi Wad Cutter loads at 800 to 1000 fps can be very effective on deer and little bears. The FLAT NOSE 230 grain can also be very effective. HARD CAST LEAD, FMJ or TMJ ? makes very little difference in 45 ACP. *
That finish won’t last long. It’ll scratch easy to get swirls. It’ll start to blur. I’ve seen many videos on that one. It’s pretty only for a little bit. Just a heads up nice pistol though
Thanks for the feedback and honest opinion!
Great video man 👌🏽 I got a Nickel Matte finish on the way in 45ACP
Thanks for the information and review

Nice
Been wanting a 1911 in 38 super. This one is NICE!
Do you mind me asking where you found those Reaper grips?
I custom ordered them from a guy in FL, I cant remember who it was right off, I think I went through Ebay.
I have one, colt 1911, chambered in 38 super.
I believe on website price is $545.00. This one's are hard to find..
I bought it for $780.. California prices are crazy
@@luisramirez2108 - did you get the 45 or 38?
@@letsgetit90 38 super
@@luisramirez2108 got mine brand new for 650

Yes, its very close to most military grade 1911 issue pistols...nothing fancy, but very functional.
I just bought the same gun the only problem was the magazine wouldn’t feed
Its more than likely an ammo issue, try using a different brand...higher end quality ammo for sure.
I live in California it’s hard to find bullets I just take what ever my local gun store has
@@luisramirez2108 - also live in California and my 45 hasn’t jammed even with reloads.
@@letsgetit90 I have it in 38 super
I love the gun but the way the mag looks inserted is uhhh, unsettling.
Can you shoot 9mm in a 38 super
Absolutely not sir.
I believe the frame is the same, and I seen people replacing the barrel and magazine from rock island and converting it to both.
Yes you can it’s not recommended but the 38 super will chamber & shoot the 9 mil I’ve done it myself

Its a maintainance issue, I've had several nickel guns, if you keep it clean and use jewelers rouge on it it will last forever.
@@fastdraw30can you send me a link to the product you’re talking about man?
