    Timeshare is a luxury item. If you can afford it. Maintenance does go up over time.

    good tip- never eat.off timeshare dishes ive seem people diaria all over them and they are hosed dowm and put back in shelves when I worked at a 14 story timeshare hotel in anaheim with very slow elevatord

    Biggest reason NOT to get into timeshares. They almost always depreciate. You will not be able to resell a timeshare for the same (or more) than you purchased it for. Look on ebay right now - some timeshares are going for as little as $1. In contrast, buying a second home (real estate) will allow you to not only get your equity back in most cases, but odds are, given enough time, the property will appreciate and you will make a profit if/when you sell.
    Additionally, buying a property means you can use it anytime, 24/7, 365 days a year. This is NOT the case with timeshares. You are restricted to a timeslot, which may or may not be convenient for you in years to come. Also, you can make money off a property you own by renting it (Airbnb) when you aren't using it.
    Don't buy a timeshare - they are always a ripoff.
