The project commemorates the river’s original location, before it was diverted in the wake of a 1921 flood. El Pueblo History Museum has a recreated 1840s trading post and artifacts tracing the city’s past. To the west, Lake Pueblo State Park is a popular fishing, boating and camping spot.
    We’re discovering the BEST places to live in the United States, The WORST places to live and where you might want to visit and take a vacation.
    Some of the places we explore are:
    Lake Pueblo State Park, Weisbrod Aircraft Museum, City Park, The Arkansas Riverwalk & MORE!

    Thanks for showcasing the fun you enjoyed. Yes, Pueblo has it's area of improvements. To be honest just about every city is facing similar issues with people not wanting to work, homelessness becoming a lifestyle choice etc. If you're not involved with negative people the majority time it's safe and has plenty to offer from museums, performances to outdoor recreation. ALL at a more affordable cost of living and with less traffic.

      Homelessness is usually not a lifestyle choice, and to work people need a living wage.

    • @jogger1987
      @jogger1987 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@juliejensen7370 now days people are choosing to be homeless bc they don't want to conform to societal norms, some people are choosing because it presents a freedom that being tied to a mortgage prevents. In terms of living wage people get paid for a skill. If an individual wants to make money then they need to increase their skill set. Also, currently a minimal wage job is paying $16-22 an hour. Pueblo's current homeless shelter usually on average has 1/3 of the bed open bc people don't want to confirm to their rules. Therefore, choosing not to conform by choice. Again there are always anomalies to every situation, yes I painted with a broad brush.

      Maybe you're not finished with the neighborhoods, but I would also suggest the following: El Camino, Aberdeen, Historic Southside, Regency, Ventana under developement Villa Bella to finish out the higher end neighborhoods. For middle class (what's left of it) I would show: Sunset Park, Briarwood Park(South High to Emilia Street up to Pueblo Blvd.), Lake Minnequa Area, University Park, Highland Park.

    Very good list actually. I dont know if you can mention private owned places but there is the Mesa Drive In Theater- not too many drive ins still around. And the Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center, its another museum, Buell Children Museum is associated but they have a planetarium. Lots of old shops on the river walk- nature trails, but thats were it ends- lots of tent camps and druggies. Its not cheap to live here anymore and people just stopped caring.

    Pueblo County, CO Unemployment Rate is at 4.40%, compared to 3.90% last month and 4.20% last year. This is lower than the long term average of 6.69%. With a crime rate of 70 per one thousand residents, Pueblo has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 14. In 2019, Pueblo had the third-largest share of people experiencing homelessness in Colorado's non-metro counties with 15%. Only Larimer and Mesa counties had higher shares at 22% and 16%, respectively.

    I grew up in Pueblo. We called "Lake Pueblo" the Pueblo reservoir. I never heard it called "Lake Pueblo" until a few years ago. It's an ugly, depressing place to live. There's only a few good jobs there, or at least there was when I was growing up. The people who worked at the steal mill made decent money, other than that people had to work fast food or some other menial job. I left Pueblo when I was in my 20's. The whole world opened up, and I will NEVER live in that depressing town again.

      I have to agree, as a former resident, I would never move back and not to be critical, most locals either pronounce Pueblo as Poo-eblo or Pee-eb-lo! I found it to be a pretty rough city w/ a higher than average crime rate and w/ a gang activity. It's more of who you know over what you know when it comes to getting a job and if you're not the right ethnicity, you'll find it even more difficult. I'm glad that I only come back to visit family from time to time.

    I'm flatered you have such optimism about our town, but it's not a place you want to be. The only reason we have such a low property value is because nobody here would be able to live in a house without it, the schools are mostly filled with either hate filled student or hate filled staff, and every student I've ever met is extremely depressed. Unless your not planning on staying, living here is not recommended, and for your own safety, don't move here
