Something I learnt, you don't need to hold the food while it eats it for the bar to go up. If you wanna tame it without a trap, you just have to drag the food as close as you can to it then drop it and run when it starts sniffing. I don't recommend this this though because it constantly attacks other creatures and sometimes tricks you into thinking it's after the food you dropped but it's really just after another dino.
I actually don’t tame them with a trap and instead kill everything in the area and make a pen for my cryosick diplos and then kill a baby Rex and walk up in full ghille and hand feed it. I’ve never died doing it that way. It’s even easier if you have a sanguine elixir.
no it doesn’t trick you it does a short roar and will run much faster if its actually aggroed while it will sniff and slowly walk over if it wants the corpse
@alejandronero4368 no because dinos attacks are AOE so if you throw 100 dilos at a Rex they all die in one hit. Rather certain dinos have an advantage for swarming. But this is not universal.
@@saraashley464 yeah carchars and gigas spawn in the same location, so they’re probably taking up the spawn slots. You may need to kill the gigas to get the carchars to spawn. Also RIP to your yutys 😭
Also worth mentioning that dinos like diplos are ideal as taking damage lowers taming effectiveness, a few hits wont do anything but after that you will start losing levels
This strategy didn't work for me but there is still an easy-ish way. Use metal gates to create a safer barrier between you and the beast. Have a sturdy smaller tame you can ride and use it to kite the beast to your gated area. Have a large tame inside. Between you and the 2 tames, it should hold the beasts aggro. Inside the barrier Have an egg incubation set up (fire pits or standing torches) and prepare ahead of time by ALMOST hatching the eggs before bringing the T-rex eggs. Hatch one at a time and kill 1 to use to get its trust, then rampage as you wish. If you wish to bring extra eggs so it can eat your babies during the rampage, either bring more rex eggs, or try diplodocus eggs that are also almost hatched.
It is way easier to tame without a trap because with one can be buggy at times in both games. Just use a Ghillie suit and feed the creature you’re using for step 1 directly.

ok this might be too late but here's how someone that has been one month in ark does it consistently, I use baby diplo or baby spino wich are easier to tame as rexes for a early carcha, traps bug them so they sometimes don't ear when trapped, solution is too go out of render and if your lucky enough he will bug out of the trap and ruin your trap, so they way I do it is way easier, us a ghillie suit drag the Dino to him when not on rage let him get the sniff animation once he is going towards you drop the body and he will eat it, make sure that when you ride it you have food and water, you don't want to die of starvation due to cold, remember you might die once you tame him so make sure you have a flier at your base too
If anything, and I mean anything, does any sort of damage to the Carch while you're running around eating stuff with it, you will lose taming effectiveness. It'd be a good idea to queue up a bunch of rex, trike, or galli eggs to hatch for that part of the taming process.
while riding the dino in the taming process, keep in mind that it is better to go for quantity over quality or just something that wont attack back as getting hit while riding it will reduce your taming effectivenes
It's not fool-proof, the Carcha can get aggro'd on the trap and refuse to eat the dino you're dragging. No trap and clear the area, so it can't aggro to anything 👍
Honestly you don’t need a trap just strap on some gillie walk crouched with your baby red and it’s rideable. I also suggest bringing a sanguine potion so you can tame it on one ride.
Just to help anyone that gets the trap bug where it will either flee until freed or only attack the trap, if u just walk rlly far away and then drag it a dead rex baby and run for your life that works pretty much 100% of the time, at least for me tho the server I play on has higher taming rates
You have to do it 5 times for a 150 tho. So your trap needs to be broken down and set back up, and you're going to clesr all the dinos near the trap on your first run
Better method. Get a baby Rex, cryopod it, approach a Wild Carcharodontosaurus, sacrifice it to the Carcharodontosaurus in the name of the blood gods, Carcharodontosaurus eats the flesh of the innocent, trust meter instantly fills, have sanguine elixir from doing batty things with bat bois, ride around on the Carcharodontosaurus eating everything in sight, use sanguine elixir to speed it up, have spare baby Rex to sacrifice just in case. No traps or gates needed, no glitches where the Carcharodontosaurus refuses to eat in the trap.
