If you wanna tame it without a trap, you just have to drag the food as close as you can to it then drop it and run when it starts sniffing. I don't recommend this this though because it constantly attacks other creatures and sometimes tricks you into thinking it's after the food you dropped but it's really just after another dino.
I actually don’t tame them with a trap and instead kill everything in the area and make a pen for my cryosick diplos and then kill a baby Rex and walk up in full ghille and hand feed it. I’ve never died doing it that way. It’s even easier if you have a sanguine elixir.

while riding the dino in the taming process, keep in mind that it is better to go for quantity over quality or just something that wont attack back as getting hit while riding it will reduce your taming effectivenes

The taming is based off of the health, not the drag weight, its a simple misunderstanding since drag weight is typically higher with the tankier dinos, use diplidocus's or brontos for the best effect
If anything, and I mean anything, does any sort of damage to the Carch while you're running around eating stuff with it, you will lose taming effectiveness. It'd be a good idea to queue up a bunch of rex, trike, or galli eggs to hatch for that part of the taming process.

lol, that def can happen sometimes and it sucks
Be very careful with where you place that trap btw. Accidentally put one on a slight slope once and the giga was able to magically levitate its way right out of the trap using nothing but the tip of one claw and sheer force of will.
It did NOT end well. Lots of dead tribe mates and even more scattering into the forest to take their chances with the sabers and raptors.
The fact people pronounce the CH sound in its name just makes me think Ark players aren't really dino nerds.
CarCHar is crazy bro
I remember seeing that after sometime the car something saurus just kicks you off how is that so?
yes that happens if you don't fill up its hunger meter by eating dinos in enough time
@@Nutz2002 I see thank you I wasnt confident before but now I am
I tried it the first time but felt like it was too much of a hassle i just feed them when theyre wild. When they sniff i just leave the body and run away to get the other one
If I hatch a baby to be feed then I have no remorse, it served its purpose for the greater cause, better than it standing around uselessly or taking space in my cryofridges
Do you need a saddle to bring to ride it? Obviously there is the saddle that you unlock at like 95 or 96 but for the taming process do you need it?
Not for the taming process
like @tbruning805 said, no saddle needed
You don’t even have to trap it. Just bring it carcasses and tame it up.
The new (Insert Mr. Krabs laughter)
What about brontosaurus babys do they take it as fast as the Rex?
Yes! It may be faster actually!
