I got a 9mth old huskey mix recently and some days she does really well until the weekend, and its a different story. Its good to know that taking 30 min is not abnormal. She is also very distracted at times. Just yesterday she was snapping at the rain drops like a kid playing. 🤦♀️
We were given Judy, to be babysat, when she was 7 months old and was not trained to be inside. As her owners were moving from one city to another city here in Canada, they did not want her back once moved so we brought her into our family. She is now a little over 4 years old and was taught how to be great holder to the time she had to go once we got home to walk her. She knows her walk trail and she loves to walk that trail.
Got my husky at around 10 weeks. By the end of Day one she started going outside to do her business. Yes, you have to watch for the little telltales ( sniffing around and sudden stop in play or whatever ) and take her outside. Treats and praise when she did. Of course it helped to have a doggie door and fenced yard. Oh yeah, baby gates are indeed recommended.
Awesome video Sixty! I know you’ve talked about this already but I can totally understand this is one of the most important topics and every dog owner needs to know how to handle potty training. Reading all of the comments here makes me realize how fortunate I am with our Husky Fritz. We adopted him when he was only a few weeks old and you are right about the every two hours it was much like having a human baby in the house as my wife and I took turns taking him outside and we got very little sleep. We never had to potty train him at all. We just had to pay attention and he would let us know when he needed to go outside by talking. We have had many different breeds of dogs in our lives and Fritz is the only one that has done this and he continues to do this even today. Fortunately he no longer has to go every two hours like he did as a baby. He is a bit of a trickster sometimes because he sometimes just wants to go outside and might not need to go potty yet. He is incredibly smart to be sure with loads of attitude!
I took my husky puppy out for 1 hour straight to potty and we just played cause he wanted to. He didn't potty so we went back inside, he went to his bed and I went to do my school work. When I got back to check up on him he was sitting innocently on his bed but I saw a corner in that room that had some numero dos 😂🤦♀️ It took him 3 days to realize that he should potty outside.
It's so funny after watching your video. We did almost exactly everything you said here to train our baby when we first got him. It was a difficult two months process. But we did it!!! he never have any accident he's potty trained and he is turning 3 the coming Friday! I would say, it is so important to take them out to potty every 2 hours at the beginning. we literally set an alarm and wake up every 2 hrs in the middle of the night to take him out. And also slept with him at the living room for 2 months, every time when we heard him awake, we immediately take him out for potty. And now we have a accident free house since after that. BTW, love your channel so much!!!
My Husky barks at me while I'm at my computer. Couple times I had ignored him and he pooped and peed. Ever since I know why he barked. I also walked him twice a day everyday for the last 2 and half years. Adopted him since he was 3 months old. Over 2 years now he haven't had any accident. I'd learned from this channel when I first got him. Thank you
All my huskies seem to be at odds with themselves. They are stubborn but wanna please their humans. A tip that I think helps with little ones, this is for when they just start training, is when they do go inside, hold them while you clean up the mess and take the mess outside to where you want them to go. If you take them back to the same spot it seems stick in their heads. If they go act like Santa just came to town and you're 6yo
It took my 10 week old Siberian Husky 1 week to learn where to pee and poop. Its crazy, now he waits for me to wake up and he just holds it in. So I have to put an alarm.

Rocky was Puppy pad trained when we first got him home at the age of almost 3 months and then when he was 5 months he was fully potty trained by letting him go out frequently in our back yard and saying “time to go Pee Pee” in a high pitched voice and then he would run to the back door to go.
Frankly, with any puppy I have an internal alarm that goes off about every 30-45 minutes to take them out unless their sleeping soundly or in my lap, etc., but once they’re up it’s time to go out. Yo sixty! Strange one.. when we took our first husky pup to puppy school the trainer actually said they are one of the easier breeds to potty train as they really really dislike doing there business where they are most of the time. We found this to be true for us. I think Yuki, our first pup, only had like 3-5 mishaps. We also just got a new puppy, Goku, and he also already asks to go outside to do his thang.. he is 10 weeks old and maybe had like 6 slip-ups so far.

The comment about them peeing every 2hrs doesnt connect with mine.
My Husky is 15 weeks old. I got her when she was 11 weeks old. The previous owner only had her about 2 weeks. She is a HANDFUL, and I can see why she didn't work out there !!. She was NOT potty trained when I got her. It has been an experience I can't remember from any other puppy I've had. I did have a Siberial Husky back in '92 but I don't remember needing to potty train her. Marcy ( the New Puppy ) sleeps in bed next to me. She can go from 10PM to 6AM without a potty break. I scoop her up and carry her outside so she doesn't stop to go potty. SO I know she can hold "it" for 6-7 hours. Now during her daytime hours I take her outside every hour, to 1 1/2 hours. I give her lots of praise for going outside. She will still have accidental pee's inside the house. I had her go 8 days without an inside poop accident. I can take her outside for a poop job and she will snif, snif, snif, circle, snif, and then lose focus and need to start all over again. We can walk around for 15 minutes without a poop, go back inside, and then poop within 5 minutes.. #PuppyLife,#PoopyLife
I got my husky when he was 8 weeks old. The breeder had already started to train the dogs to do their thing outside. The thirst couple of weeks I kept a close eye at him. When possible I let him go in the garden. I walked him 3 times a day. He soon started to give me notice, by standing at the door when he needed to go. He maybe pied in total 8 times and pooped 2 times on the floor. I cleaned it up without mentioning it to him. Since it’s a male dog I used a detergent with a smell neutralizing agent. I also have noticed that he poops when he has walked a km or so. He prefers high grass and weeds.
I'm getting my husky puppy this spring, and I have been watching all of your videos; they are very helpful! I do have a question though, in one of your videos you said baby gates are suuuuper helpful because you should keep the puppy in one room at first and expand as he grows. If I keep him in the living room during the day, can I bring him to my room at night because his crate will be there when I sleep, or should it be in the room he spends most of his time in? Love the channel btw!!
I have a 4 month husky and this dog is on a whole Nother level. But imma try the bells I hope it helps cuz I’m tired of picking up poo and cleaning my carpet. Why she talk back so much too my lord
I work from home. I had a rescue dalmatian and he learned an awesome routine. Any time I went to bathroom I let him out as young dog. It became his routine to sit by the back door when I was in the bathroom. I would let him when I finished. Never any accidents
Got my Husky 3 weeks ago when he was 8 weeks old. Let him use puppy pads for the first 2 weeks because I was afraid of parasites and what not but he rarely missed the puppy pads. Last week we started training to potty outside and now just one week later at 11 weeks old he will sit at the door and ask to go out every time he needs to potty. Yes literally even at 2am if he needs to go potty he will wake me up then go sit at the back door. I'm thinking about putting in a doggy door since my back yard is fenced in but I also have 2 boys that are ages 1 and 2 that I don't want sneaking out.
We just used training pads inside, and our husky puppy knows to use those to go. We're just trying to get him to go outside, meaning that we need to take a training pad outside, put it down, wait for it to be used a lot, then pick it up, toss it out, and then tell the puppy that the pads are gone. Also, yes, I currently have a Siberian, Alaskan husky; he's 5 months, and his name is bear.
My 8m old husky (who is now 1y)now use to use the pee pad but I put on the balcony and then I make sure I saw the signs of when he need to go and then we work on a schedule. now I have 6m old pup trying to train her been two days now.
That pottying where you can't see is such an issue with my boys. We have a spare room where the cats have litter boxes that we don't use often. It has a gate but the dogs have literally torn down the gate to go potty in there instead of outside or somewhere else in the house
I have a 15 week old Huskimo (Siberian husky/American Eskimo dog) puppy and have been having a very difficult time potty training. We have been doing everything mentioned other than the bell training. She has days where she does great and no accidents and then days where she goes more in the house than outside and we are kinda at our wits end. Between that and her hitting on us all the time we don’t know what to do
Can you comment on potty training an older Husky. We rescued her at 6 months and now nearly two years later she is still marking and occasionally pooping. We walk her and put her out all the time as I work from home. But man it's frustrating because other than that, she's amazing.
I loved this video..great info ,delivered in a funny as s$%t way...good on ya mate..and thank you :-) P.s just got my first pup and it's a husky lol...so shall be watching rest of your vids as well 👍
Crate training made a huge difference for my husky. She was taught to use puppy pads as a baby so she would go in the house whenever and wherever she wanted. After I got her crate trained i just took her outside whenever I took her out of the crate, and after a small amount of time (and a lot of treats) she gradually got used to going outside and had less and less accidents inside. Now onward to teaching her how to use a bell.😮💨🫡
Love your channel, your narration is so funny! I have a 7 year old Akita male, he was quite hard to toilet train. It was a choice between Akita or Husky. I still get pepole mistaking his for a husky. Which is weird, I don't think they look anything like them. ANYWAY the No.1 thing that worked to toilet train him was HAM. 🤣🤣🤣 aka "high value treat". Waited until he went for a pee outdoors, then gave him HAM. Magic HAM. Job done - finally!!!
Hey can you please make a video about preventing husky puppies from eating anything thats on the floor like dirty things, insects, dust, and even hair. And please make a vid about the best schedules on when to go potty, when to let them out of their cage and when to let them roam around the house. Thanks and gratly appreciated advice.
Hi @sixtyformula, we have a 10 month old siberian huskey puppy. We are trying to get him to stop his biting but also we can't take him to get groomed cause he tends to growl and snap. He is house broken, knows several commands/ tricks so we know he can improve but it's frustrating. What do you think we should do? We are going to get him into obedience training but I want your thoughts on how to stop the growling/snapping at strangers, etc. Thanks
My husky hasnt peed while my husband was here (he's in the military) but when he's gone she'll be outside for awhile and will pee on the floor. I hopefully she doesn't pee in the house anymore.. if so hope these work..
My husky pup is only 8 weeks she's been doing great going only on the pads. She gets her shots this week so we can start going outside. But the pad training only took a few days and she's been great.
I have a 5 yr old that I rescued back in March. She was doing really well, but now has started going on the downstairs carpet at night. I don't crate her because she has issues from when she was with her prior family. She's on thyroid meds that make her have to pee a lot! Any ideas? Thanks!
I’m not sixty but if I were you, I’d take my husky out more frequently. If she is peeing indoors at night (I’m guessing since she can’t hold it in because if the meds), I guess you’d just have to take her out at night too. Do reward her for peeing outside at night, this will let her know she’s doing the right thing. I know this can be really inconvenient and annoying but it’s the only solution I can think of.
I can sit outside with my husky for a hour and he won’t go but the second we go inside then he goes on our floor -_-

New here. Bringing my husky home tomorrow.
How's it been?
Thank you for the tips, mine is about 3 weeks old so this will definitely help me a lot when he's older
This video is very helpful for the future. Thanks Sixty Formula!
Thank you so much this video has helped me so much my husky is now potty trained
Lorrrd he named the husky "Britteny spears" lol 😂
I'm getting my husky puppy this spring, and I have been watching all of your videos; they are very helpful! I do have a question though, in one of your videos you said baby gates are suuuuper helpful because you should keep the puppy in one room at first and expand as he grows. If I keep him in the living room during the day, can I bring him to my room at night because his crate will be there when I sleep, or should it be in the room he spends most of his time in? Love the channel btw!!
They’re very smart & well trained
Thank you for watching Tiffany!
I have a 4 month husky and this dog is on a whole Nother level. But imma try the bells I hope it helps cuz I’m tired of picking up poo and cleaning my carpet. Why she talk back so much too my lord
i wish i had this video in january when i got my husky puppy!!!!!
I would hire this guy to sing at my birthday party!
Hi Sixty Formula, great information for all dogs not just pepperoni Pizzas. Continue to be safe and keep up the good work.
Pupperoni
I work from home. I had a rescue dalmatian and he learned an awesome routine. Any time I went to bathroom I let him out as young dog. It became his routine to sit by the back door when I was in the bathroom. I would let him when I finished. Never any accidents
can u make a tutorial for a Siberian husky that cant go out and on an apartment?
Right!
I think it’s a huge relief for any dog when they get potty trained lol
Im a new subscriber and im already Liking your vids man 💙
Luv your videos, always informative. Keep it coming. Appreciated. Most important we luvvvv the doggies. 😍❤❤❤🙏
Hey happy monday! Love britanny!
I don't have a husky or any dog in fact but I still watch him
Sixty, your the freakin man!
2:44 we were ready at 0:01 love 😂
we struggled with our husky peeing. she never pooped in the house once, but peeped at least once a week.
My husky is like a raptor from jurassic Park, she learns how to open doors, especially those baby gates.
That pottying where you can't see is such an issue with my boys. We have a spare room where the cats have litter boxes that we don't use often. It has a gate but the dogs have literally torn down the gate to go potty in there instead of outside or somewhere else in the house
Gorgeous, elegant doggies
They both are so beautiful, adore them! Very helpful information buddy. Thank you!
my husky puppy sits by the door and beeps, so your tip about every two hours makes good sense here
your channel is an amazing gift lol thank you so much for your videos.
My husky was so smart. He never done his business in the house. He would hold it forever, until I took him out. He was such a a good boy. I miss him!
Between that and her hitting on us all the time we don’t know what to do
I found a Siberian Husky mixed online at a shelter, I’m excited though! I am not sure what’s the other mixed are..
Can you comment on potty training an older Husky. We rescued her at 6 months and now nearly two years later she is still marking and occasionally pooping. We walk her and put her out all the time as I work from home. But man it's frustrating because other than that, she's amazing.
did you manage to overcome it? my pup is 8 months old now and still can't seem to not poop and pee inside 😪
I love your dogs
We also only use the crate for keeping him out of the way, or when someone's eating. He can talk, too.
what if i dont have room in my house for a kennel
thanks for the bell idea, hope it works well when my dog wants to communicate " i need to go now!" wish me luck. nice tip
I loved this video..great info ,delivered in a funny as s$%t way...good on ya mate..and thank you :-)
P.s just got my first pup and it's a husky lol...so shall be watching rest of your vids as well 👍
Hey how'd the training go?
🐾 Sorry i forgot to subscribe i been watch your channel i love you guys and girls stay pawsome 🐾
Sixty Formula: Huskies can hold their bladder for two hours. Me: I can hold my bladder for five hours🤓
Haha I can hold my bladder for three hours
This was perfect and entertaining. 😂
Hey can you please make a video about preventing husky puppies from eating anything thats on the floor like dirty things, insects, dust, and even hair. And please make a vid about the best schedules on when to go potty, when to let them out of their cage and when to let them roam around the house. Thanks and gratly appreciated advice.
will you make a episode to train a husky to eat
Your dogs are gorgeous!!
We have a 7 week old husky baby boy. Help! 😆 he's so strong willed and stubborn. I love the tips thank you!
Nanook is only marking the same spot when my parents come over, which is regularly!
Trying to understand more about the subject.
Thanks
the actual intro and first mention of the video title is 2:26 for anyone wondering
My husky hasnt peed while my husband was here (he's in the military) but when he's gone she'll be outside for awhile and will pee on the floor. I hopefully she doesn't pee in the house anymore.. if so hope these work..
My dogs names are Cooper and Teddy and Cooper cannot get picked up😮
As a husky owner I concur to this message.
My husky pup is only 8 weeks she's been doing great going only on the pads. She gets her shots this week so we can start going outside. But the pad training only took a few days and she's been great.
What if you were unable to wake up every 2 hours throughout the night but did these tricks during the day? Would the puppo backslide in training?
I have a 4yr old Siberian husky and he was easy to potty train. And he absolutely does not like to go poop in the same spot and he never has
Another awesome livestream and video!
They are so stinking cute🐶
Thanks this help so much!!!
Great episode 👍
