      @jussihin 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shellyman Studios overrated in my opinion. Poor 4 cyl engine and ugly taillights. Yes, i like Volvos but these new ones are a lot worse.

    • @movitz1579
      @movitz1579 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      how is the engine ''poor''?

    • @jussihin
      @jussihin 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LA I don't like their way to mark the engines for example good old Volvo S80 T6 was actually straight six engine and older D5 engine also was actually straight five engine. New Volvos are badged with T6 and T8 and D2-5 that are not straight meaning to cylinder numbers.

    • @movitz1579
      @movitz1579 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jussihin Yea i know that kinda sucks but it has nothing to do with the actual performance or reliability of the engines themselves.

    • @Ta3kno
      @Ta3kno 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the case with every manufacturer these days. Engine capacity goes smaller because of the emission rates and newer technology. There's really no point in making outdated N/A straight six engines anymore, since they are so much less efficient than these smaller engines. They are heavier, they are less economical, they have terrible emissions and are old news already. They are great engines, but not for the future anymore.
      Volvo, Mercedes, Audi, BMW etc etc. They all are doing this. 63 AMG label no longer stands for 6.2 liter N/A V8. Most AMG engines are sub 4 liter bi-turbo engines and Audi left out V8 from all of it's smaller models and went for 2.9 liter V6. In 10+ years all of these performance cars will be hybrids. I'd love a good old V6 or V8 engine, but they will be a thing of past very soon. Nobody will be making them anymore in the future, at least without hybrid tech.

    I control my V90 TC climate - temp, steering wheel and seat heating all through voice command. The same is true for most audio controls. Never had a problem with the navigation once it understands where I am going. The biggest frustration with Navigation voice is two: first you must use the exact name of place not common reference and two changing the state to the one you want to search for a destination is extremely helpful.

    With the touch screen, I couldn't agree more. Car manufacturers need to understand that when you're on the road (driving) you need not navigate 4-5 sub-menus to get to climate control. A configurable "speed dial" or "quick favorites" menu on the home page of the touch screen can work wonders, so you can add what you need there and access it at a glance.

    I totally agree with you about the Sensus infotainment system. I special-ordered a 2018 V90 Cross Country T6 wagon just like this one, and then I decided to not take it for several reasons, this one being among the worst. They should really put climate controls and audio controls back into buttons that one can reach easily without looking, and Volvo needs to put more features on the steering wheel -- like other car manufacturers have done much better at. It's so ironic that Volvo is known for being among the safest cars, and then they go and make this totally unsafe infotainment system that requires the driver to take his/her eyes off the road for very long periods to deal with what should be easy changes in climate or audio, etc. And the infotainment system also lacks the ability for the driver to permanently disable things like auto-start/stop and locking the doors when the car starts -- two more things that, when added all together, made me choose another car brand (which is a shame, because this is a really neat car in so many respects!). I hear that Sensus has been upgraded just now (Sept./Oct. 2018) for the 2019 models, to improve some of the frustrating aspects of earlier versions (it starts up faster; you can apparently now permanently disable auto-start/stop), but those other problems noted above still seem to be there. Great review, by the way! It's very important to see how any car drives at night, and very few reviews (and very few test drives) tend to get into night-time drives.

    • @break_it_bill
      @break_it_bill 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the speech input to adjust all those functions. Touch the voice control button, say "set temp to 70*" the system sets the temp to 70. If you say "turn temp up" (or down) it adjusts the temperature 1* up/down. You can also say "enable auto" and it will turn the auto climate back on. This is the intended method from Volvo. They want it to be a completely hands-free process for absolutely zero eyes-off-the-road driving. Their PR/marketing team totally dropped the ball on disseminating that information out to (prospective) buyers. :(

    • @break_it_bill
      @break_it_bill 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also -- the sales guy I initially looked at V90's with at our Volvo dealership didn't even know this feature existed...so I'm really not surprised consumers aren't aware of it. He thought I was asking HIM to adjust the heat when I started talking. He was messing with the screen and I was like, "no...the car will do it...watch" :)

    The gauge sweep on the digital display looks very laggy when you turn the ignition on. Is this always the case when powering the vehicle on? How long does it take to become less laggy? Is the main infotainment screen this way too?

    • @break_it_bill
      @break_it_bill 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Volvo has pushed out a few firmware updates to improve the various screens (lag and boot times) in the time since this video was uploaded (May 2018). Some people were experiencing 1min30sec-2min boot times of the main infotainment, these updates have removed all lag and said boot delays.

    • @break_it_bill
      @break_it_bill 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, I'll add that on the sweep specifically you might be seeing some of the FPS drop between the screens and the camera itself. Not sure the precise specs, but it is similar to when you view LED taillights on video. The LED's are blinking so fast, yet the camera maxes (depending on region) at a particular FPS so you will see the flicker. I test drove a V90 ~2 months ago and the gauges/infotainment were smooth as silk.

    For a big car that T6 doesent have enough power. It's not slow, but it's not very fast either.

    Don't get me wrong but I feel like they could have made it a little more powerful for beeing turbo and supercharged. But I guess they had their reasons

    • @connorPiper0
      @connorPiper0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The engine is super then turbocharged, not and. So it really is just a single forced induction 2.0 I-4

    • @vladen14
      @vladen14 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really? How does that work? The compressed air from the supercharger goes into the turbo's intake and get's even more compressed?

    • @connorPiper0
      @connorPiper0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The supercharger couples when you want to accelerate, and decouples when the engine is high enough RPM for the turbo to take over. Mainly to produce low end power and eliminate turbo lag.

    Cannot believe nobody is missing a 6-cyl in such an expensive, luxury car. 4-cyl is just not suitable with luxury. True car enthusiast would be bodered with that.

      SA13 Volvo
      True enthusiasts car
      Pick one
      It is a very well rounded car with high technology and features, just thank it's a wagon and no 2.5 ton SUV

      SA13 when diesel engines will cut off in Europe..... Than volvo will make new eletric and petrol engines for hybrid, hoping for a 6 cyl after the 2020!! Would be very great, also for an extreme version, as polestar, like rs6 or e63 amg.... Would be curious

    • @FullOilBarrel

      No, "true car enthusiast" know the potential of a 4 cylinder. Has nothing to do with luxury.

    That setup is not that comon here in Sweden, only rich people and bosses drive those cars in my opinion. This car being tested with maxed equipment is hard to compare to the average Volvo.
    The most common S/V90 is around D3-D4/T3-T4. 1.6L diesel/petrol engine with around 130-160hp around 200-300 000SEK (23 000 - 35 000$).
    The new modern Volvos looks very expensive but can be fairly affordable for the average worker.

    Listening to it go over bumps is disgusting. When you start the car up, that stupid tone, like what is this a kia? There slow and ugly gauge cluster, bad infotainment, bad build quality. Volvo isn’t what it used to be I’m sorry.
